It does the job
We have had our van for almost three years now and it has served us well. Getting the three seats in the middle has come in handy sometimes as you can fit eight people comfortably. The automatic leveling system has been a fine feature when we pack it for a vacation. Compared to any other van it gets some of the best gas mileage. Unless you do towing, the horsepower is very adequate. We have the two electric sliding doors and I have been amazed at their durability. I used to actually joke to my friends that the door motors would only last three years, but so far so good. My only issue would be that it could use bigger front brakes as it takes much longer to stop with 7 people in the van.
Great minivan
I have owned this minivan for 3.5 years. The only time it has been in the shop is for oil changes and tire rotations. It is very reliable and I have been pleasantly suprised with the fuel economy. I couldnt ask for a better vehicle, for thousands less than some of its competitors.

very comfortable for long rides
I bought this car after driving an Outback to Chicago and knowing I couldn't drive it for long rides. So I bought this and 3 weeks later drove to Denver, 1700 miles. Since then I've driven it 4 times to Denver and twice to Dallas. It's extremely comfortable, reasonable gas mileage, and a huge cargo space. I'd buy another one if they still made them.
Good Van
I bought this van new and think overpaid for it at 27K. My other choice was a Honda Odyssey, but dealer did not want to reduce price. Overall the van has performed well. Drove from NC to Colorado, and then to San Diego and back without problems. Has a good soft ride, OK gas mileage, and good interior features. Wish it had better cup holders in front and better storage in center console. Front seat rear pockets have come apart at the upper corners from kids pulling on them. Storage space is great. It seats 8, but second row is too low to the floor. Overall I am happy with the van. I dislike the fast depreciation when compared with its Japanese counterparts. You should get a good deal on this van when buying used
Problems from the word go
Our van has had problems from the word go. Within two months our driver side window had problems going up and the interior roof liner began sagging. The window, we were always told was due to sand in the track. This is not the case. The liner we were told was a known problem but the engineers don't know how to fix it. Two years and two seasons of owning our van, our condenser for the air conditioning went. We were told it was due to a bad weld but chevy refused to fix it because we were past the warranty in miles. They did offer to fix a head gasket that we were not aware was problematic. In the end before our two year ownership anniversary the van needed $2300 worth of uncovered work.
Nothing Great
This van is not exceptional. However it does a lot of things well for a good price. 8 passenger seating, ample storage space, roof racks, aftermarket hitch and good gas mileage too. Reliability has not been great, but everything except the AC condenser at 45K was covered under warranty and the servicing dealer (not the one we bought it at) has been great.
OK, but no big trophy
When we drove it off the lot we had problems. The tire was bad to begin with, the OnStar antenna was missing, the lug covers were missing. We had messages coming up on the dash several times for brake sensor problems. The air conditioner went bad in only over 20K miles. Cargo area is nicely converted from 6 passenger to open hull. Didn't like the turn off switch for backing warning. My daughter turned off the warning because it was beeping and my wife backed into a wall. I believe there was a recall for the automatic doors. We seemed to constantly have something wrong with it. Rides nice on interestate. Washy handling around curves (live in WV). Overall OK, but not the best auto.
Not sure what to think
This van is very family friendly. Roomy interior, good gas mileage, lots of storage spaces. However, this is my first Chevy I have owned. In four years the engine continually loses coolant, the fan motor and switch on heat/ac controls has broken. The glovebox hinge has broken. Instead of having the typical plastic hinges, this van has one solid piece of plastic that runs the length of the bottom of the glovebox and after opening the glove box from time to time the plastic hinge has broken. It reminds me of taking a credit card and bending it in half until it breaks.
Dissapointing
Nice van, but a royal piece of garbage, GM made a serious design flaw in its intake manifold gasket, admitting fault but refusing to look after its customers. I now have engine damage on an otherwise good vehicle.GM made a serious mistake here, this is my first and last GM product. Based strictly on GM NOT standing behind their product. I have had a much better experience with Chrysler, and should have stuck with them. Lesson here GM is in huge financial trouble, why because people are purchasing vehicules from manufacturers that stand behind them.
Nice Van - Gaskets stink
Typical thing with GM vehicles I have ever purchased. Always something wrong that is notorious with it. Rear disc brakes seizing in the early 90's cars. Now with this engine the head hasket and/or intake gasket is crap. Seems everyone has this problem. But GM won't fix it. No wonder people are buying foreign. I would love to stay domestic, but I can't afford the $3000 repair bills on something they know is a problem. This problem really takes away a comfortable van with lots of room and good gas economy.
LOTS OF OPTIONS, BUT LACKS DETAIL
LOVE MY VAN, BUT GM COULD IMPROVE THE SECOND ROW BY MAKING THE MIDDLE SEAT EASIER TO FLIP FORWARD WITH A LATCH SIMILAR TO THE SIDE SEATS AND BY MAKING THE WINDOWS OPEN IN THE REAR TO WHERE YOU ACTUALLY GET AIR. THE ENGINE START UP SEEMS WEAK. TURNS OVER A LOT THEN FINALLY STARTS. DVD PLAYER SOULD WORK WITH OUT NEEDING THE REMOTE AND SHOULD BE LOCATED IN THE REAR SO THE KIDS CAN INSERT DISC IN STEAD OF THE DRIVER.
Nice features, mechanical problems
Lots of nice features to enjoy, but would really like to see more rear seating options like a split 3rd row seat. The spare tire is a real hassle to get to. Poor performance going up a hill.
I Love My Warner Bros.Edition!
I have had little to no problems with my van. It makes road trips a blast and is very comfortable not to mention roomy I have driven my family all over and have only had to pay for recurring maintenance and minor repairs. I would definitely buy this van again.
Rust Bucket
We really liked this van until the quarters started to rust through. The area where it all comes together under the doors(looks like 3 layers spot welded) started to rust 2 years into it. Very hard area to touch up and dealer would not attemp to repair it. Only option was to drill a few small holes and spray oil into it. This retards the rust put looks like crap. Hearing horror stories from others about the head gasket. With 80k on it now I kinda cringe every time I drive it. Tried to sell it, nobody wants it so I guess I will beat it into the ground.
Lemon 2x
First had a 2000 bad trans - lemon lawed it Currently my 5 month old 2002 Venture is in the shop for trans problems
Great vehicle for the money
Excellent vehicle for the price. It comes fully loaded and the DVD player/Sound system with the wireless headphones is awesome. It keeps the kids entertained on longer trips.
Excellent Purchase
Great van! Best new vehicle purchase I have ever made. Convenient functions and great view of road.
Purchased in Vermont
We traded in a '97 Ford Expedition and I was expecting a drop in performance with the AWD vs. 4WD. My 2nd day with the Venture I got caught in an ice storm. It handles so much better than our Expedition that I am in shock. It even has more interior room than the Ford. Tri-mode audio is a God-send for our family and the remote sliding door helps at school dropoffs and on shopping trips with arms full of packages--no need to fish for keys. Most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned.
great minivan
This is a great minivan. I have owned 2 other minivans and this is the best one by far. I have 4 children, and they are always comfortable.
It tries but it just won't die
Are you looking for a sleek looking minivan with amazing features, powerful engine, and high resale value?well you need to look elsewhere. This old rust bucket looks like tetnis shot on wheel, headlights fog over so bad you really can't tell much difference between high and low beams. Engine mantinence is a pain in the ass, rear spark plugs require some disassembly, air filter and battery are locked under frame crossmembers. However if you are near broke and need a dirt cheap basic vehicle to get around with then this old turd is just right. It's not pretty but man I can't believe this thing is still running.its got 274k on original engine and transmission, third water pump though. My grandparents bought it used around 15 years ago, had it for about 5 years then sold it to my parents at 125k when the a/c went out. Could not fix a/c after several attempts. Leak would take 12 labor hours to fix. These are not great engine and transmission combo, but it is alright. You are guaranteed to replace lower intake manifold gaskets and head gasket if you buy this car with low miles. They all go around 60-140k due to poor quality original gaskets. Overall pretty bullet proof cam in block engine as long as you take care of them. They have horrible lower block leaks that are very common. Not puking oil leaks but I have never seen a 3.1L or 3.4 with a non oil covered oil pan. Same goes for the trans. If you drive with a lead foot the tranny will go out. As long as you drive like a grandma this car will last forever.

Good car but hard to fix
The engine is so tight in there that it makes it very hard to fix it when something breaks. Gaskets leak oil every 70,000 must be replaced, every engine gasket. Oil pan is almost impossible to remove and replace the gasket. You have to unplug the egr and get a oil catch can for pcv or the engine will die from oil and garbage going into the intake. Other than that the Car is fun to drive, has good power and I like the single cam overhead valve engine, so simple to fix if only it was not so tightly packed in there.

Night in shiny mini van
Like how I step on the gas & it goes like how it corners like how big it is in side built in baby seat & all cup holders like the heat & air-conditioning like how Radio has CD & cassette tapes beside am FM radio like the fact it has 3 cigarette lighter holes for excesories the only thing I do not like is how hard it is to get the spare tire off from under the back of IT. IF gas was Cheap I would Love 2 keep IT

What a waste of 21,000 bucks
Simply put this van is garbage. Very very cheap. Sliding door repaired 4 times. Fuel gauge repaired a/c repaired and gasket repaired all before 52 000 miles. Very uncomfortable. Resale value is horrible. Chrysler vans much better. Ride is noisy very noisy. And what pick up. 180 horses on this van are like 105 horses on Toyota Echo. You are better off paying 7 or 8k more to buy oddyssy and drive a real van that won't fall apart or buy Chrysler.
Cheap
Just had our 6th child so we needed an eight seater. Currently have a 1999 Toyota Sienna and love it. Just bought this 2002 Chevrolet Venture and we are shocked at the overall lower quality of just about everything in and on this van compared to the Sienna. Rattly, interior paneling that is just... cheap. I don't know how else to say it. Good thing is that we paid less for this van with 80k miles on it than we will be able to sell our Sienna with 155k miles on it. The bad thing is that I have more faith in our Sienna with 155k miles on it than I do in this van with 80k miles on it.
