Best family vehicle
Bought it used in may 2012 with 30,000 miles for $34,000 otd. Now has 98,000 from tons of road trips, running around town and heavy [8000#] towing. All that is needed is basic maintenance to make it last, which i do all myself with walmart brand synthetics. I did add a 30k transmission cooler and a engine oil cooler to help with the towing loads right after purchasing. Parts replaced: ac blower motor @95k rotor & pads @90k, they had tons of pad remaining but pulsation was bad... battery @60k I plan on keeping this suburban for a very long time. Update Dec, 2016: 126,000 miles Now towing 9000# often since adding some dirt bikes to the trailer. Replaced Motor mounts @100k New battery and Front Axle seal@115k Dash is cracking update: June, 2017 136,000 miles Transmission rubber line split, toasted it ....expensive early rebuild that could have been avoided! Installed a 40k trucool cooler afterwards.

Very reliable
Purchased this vehicle brand new in 2011... It is now March 2020... Vehicle currently has just over 235000 miles on it.. This has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.. Very few issues to report.. The driver side power mirror needed Replacing in 2018.. Front right caliber was replaced in 2017 due to a very minor fluid leak. At the moment the vehicle runs a bit rough while in idle... Check engine light is on. Will update with information as to cause of the problem after it's fixed.. Over all I am Very happy with this vehicle..

My first Chevrolet Suburban LT
Great on long distance traveling. During summer we drove about 600 miles comfortably over Donner Pass and the Grapevine (both ways)without stopping for gasoline or needing a break. Outside temperature ranged from 80 (Reno) to 113 degrees (Bakersfield), but inside it was about 72. Still showing 19.2 mpg with mix of city/rural driving, but I am usually light on the gas pedal except when climbing hills. Up to now I am very happy with purchase and ability to fit in lots of people and infant seats. Easy access to the 3rd row and the large cargo area for carrying weekly groceries or bulky items. I think a full sized mattress would fit with rear seat removed and 2nd row folded. XM radio
Why drive a small SUV? The Burb gets very good mpg
My second Suburban, the first being a 2005. This one is a great vehicle especially in the Northeast US Winters. Extremely confidence inspiring in inclement weather. Also the crash test ratings are top of the list. I tow a 7500 lb boat, 20' enclosed car hauler, Snowmobile trailers and more with the truck with ease and comfort. When I am not towing I average 17 mpg in winter and 18 in summer. The 3.3 ltr V8 with 320 hp is fuel efficient and can pull when needed. When I am towing my enclosed car trailer with a car inside I can select tow haul mode and set my cruise control for 60 or 65 and unless I am in very steep mountainous conditions I am good to go. If hills are steep I may choose to select Manual transmission override and downshift to control hill descents but only rarely. Like most of my GM vehicles the reliability is above average and maintenance cost super low. At 30k miles I went to the dealer and asked them to go through the vehicle and do whatever is needed cost no object and they refused to do more than change the oil as nothing is required, this is typical. I have had to replace brakes and do oil changes, still no tires required. My biggest complaint is flipping up and down the rear seats, its a pain. Also ride comfort with the big 20" chrome wheels is slightly harsh. Technology is a year or two behind. Overall a great vehicle. Why drive some puny down sized SUV that gets a whopping 18 or 20 mpg, when you can have it all?

Fantastic all-around vehicle
Expensive- yes. Great gas mileage- no. Worth it- yes! I took out the third row seat which makes for a very large cargo area, especially with the rear captain seats also folded down. I've made many trips home from Home Depot with it loaded up. Also have gone on several cross country trips with it loaded up. It's nice not to have to pick and choose what to take based on limited cargo space. Also, everything stays secure and dry without extra effort. The ride is very comfortable. Love the heated and cooled captain seats. The 4wd comes in handy in Michigan. It wasn't cheap, but I can use this vehicle for basically anything and everything I would ever want.

2013 Suburban LTZ
Overall a beautiful truck with better than expected fuel consumption. It has an Artistic interior with every comfort, except in cabin air filter.
I love my Suburban!
I read Jen's review and while the sunroof leak is regrettable, it sounds to me like the dealership is the real problem. That is unfortunate. My Z71 4WD Suburban has performed flawlessly, providing reliable service day after day. I drive ranch roads and tow a boat and do a fair amount of highway driving. lots of different surfaces and conditions, and this vehicle carries me everywhere in comfort AND holds everything I can stuff into it. I've had no problems whatsoever and have complete confidence in the Suburban. If you can stand the gas mileage - you don't buy a Suburban to get great mileage - then I highly recommend this great truck. And no, I don't sell them.
Moca Steel 2014 Suburban LT 1500
I've driven a Suburban since 2000 and for me it's a comfortable and safe SUV for towing, hauling and general utility for a family. The 2014 is continues to be a great driving reliable vehicle but I have several complaints. It is 500 lbs. heavier than the 2000 -2006 Suburban model and gas mileage is worse at an overall city/higway of 16 mpg. Compared to the previous body style there are also deleted convenience items, i.e.: glove box light, sun visor extensions, cargo area dome light convenience switch, front door safety lights. There are also several design flaws; the second row seat placement in relation to the B column causes narrow foot clearance for rear entry ... a real problem for kids and elderly, the rear bumper is up high making entry to the cargo area difficult, and there is no open warning chime if you turn off the ignition and leave the sun roof open. Finally, this Suburban is mocha steel color; the paint clear coat is alligating and peeling off the door handle, the hood and the roof ... almost a complete paint failure in less 3 years. And the dash is now cracked. Chevrolet doesn't warranty these defects under their certified bumper to bumper warranty.

$60,000 Suburban with cracked dash
I bought this SUV new in 2013 even though it was a 2012 for $60,000. I got a standard 3 year warranty from the dealership, Bob Steele Chevolet. Within a few months of warranty expiring my dash cracked in 2 places. Over the instrument panel and most seriously beside my airbag. Chevrolet company just said it was not a safety issue and could help cause I was out of warranty. NO WONDER THEY ONLY OFFER A 3 YEAR WARRANTY! The dealership tried to be sympathetic and said they would see what they could do but it wasn't their problem, they had MANY customers with the same problem! I find it hard to believe that THOUSANDS of buyers with the same problem can be wrong. There is even a Facebook page for Chevrolet Boken Dashes! Don't think because you pay a great deal of money for a SUV its going to be better than the cheaper one, or the company will treat you better. My family has always owned chevys, now because of their indifference to customers and REAL problems with their vehicles, my future cars will be imports! Don't buy ANY Chevrolet without checking online about defects they refuse to fix or even recognize. This is a problem with many models over many years! Sad when a company puts money over safety!

Fun to drive & safe!
We are very happy with our new Suburban LTZ. We were able to get one of the last 2010 models. So far, everything is great. Impressed with the NAV, particularly compared to our Acura MDX. OnStar is also impressive, but a bit expensive once the free trial is up. Very smooth ride, quiet, and a great sound system. Sufficient power and the cylinder management really seems to help with gas mileage. It is a big car, so it takes time to get used to the braking. We now have plenty of room for the kids and dog.
Love my Land Yacht
I am pushing 60 years old and am in construction. I have bad knees and refused to buy a pickup truck and climb in and out of the back . I had a 2001 Suburban and it was one of my favorite all time work vehicles. It had 218,000 miles on it and ran like new .Decided to buy something newer so I bought a 2013 Suburban LTZ with 117k on It 5.3 motor. It is a little bit expensive and too nice to probably work out of but they are hard to find without a ton of miles on them . From what I see the people that have them keep them till they are well used . They are a little more money then a quad cab truck but your tools stay dry and safe. With my bad knees I can usually reach my stuff from either the back or sides without having to climb in on my knees. I don’t think I would ever buy a new one as the price is as much as a house . Anyone spending that kinda money on a car is going to take good care of it . Knowing that a used one is going to be better than a pickup truck that has been abused. I’ve had a 2007 Ford Expedition EL and a Ford Excursion V10 . I will stick with My Suburban for the nice ride and gas mileage. I did put a Active Fuel Management Disabler on it because I didn’t like it kicking from 4 to 8 cylinders all the time . Huge difference. Very nice ride and good power Love my land yacht .

Chose wisely grasshopper!
We were in the recently market for a new road trip ride for our growing family, at a minimum we needed to be able to comfortably seat 6 adults and still have room for luggage/necessities for weekend getaways. The Chevrolet Suburban quickly rose to top of the list. We noticed right away that the body style and interiors haven’t really changed all that much in the year models of 2008-2014, thus this offers quite a bit of opportunity for savvy car shoppers. The 5.3L GM engines have a pretty good reputation for reliability with some for, and some against the AFM system, but if the seller can prove that oil has been changed regularly, and you will do the same you shouldn’t have any issues until well past that dreaded 100,000 mile mark. Many owners have suburbans with well over 200,000 on the odometer and Still no afm issues. We are of the opinion, that if you do your part and invest some due diligence, then you should be able to locate that well maintained creampuff, that is not only affordable, but also is a reliable investment. We settled on the 1LT packaged suburban and here is why, it’s a great middle of the road package. You get the leather heated seating and other luxury items are not available on the LS, but it’s not not heavily loaded with those fancy electronic items that are notoriously prone to problems. The LTZ version is really nice, but really nice always comes at a price, 1st off, you pay way more the LTZ equipped models just to learn down the road that all these fancy items are nice, until it comes time to maintain them. The shock absorbers for certain models can easily cost $200 to $300 each, where as on the LT1 model we changed all 4 (ourselves) for less than $400. The suburban was also available ina 2500 version up thru the 2013 model. It’s often said that a car fax is not worth the paper it’s printed on, and that car fax has never ever even inspected a vehicle, so it’s no good. I say hog wash, it will a least let me know if the oil was changed regularly, and if it has had any accidents reported. Car fax is a good start for a savvy shopper. We settled on a used one with 88,072 miles that idles like a sewing machine and we couldn’t be more satisfied for the price.

Great family hauler
With four kids and doing a lot of winter traveling in New England this Suburban was perfect. Holds all of our gear, feels safe on the road and no vehicle is better driving on the highway with a car full. Mechanically solid. Electronics leave a bit to be desired. Little things like cruise control and rear window wiper stopped working for no known reason. Brakes have to be replaced more often than normal and the front suspension has had to be rebuilt. But it's a heave vehicle so I guess that's normal and to be expected.

Great vehicle with poor GM support
This is a great vehicle and was just the right size for my whole family. I bought this vehicle used and was a good deal so I jumped on it. A few months after we took possession of the vehicle, the dashboard started to crack by the passenger-side airbag and then on top of the instrument cluster. I come to find out that this a common and very documented occurrence on 07-13 full-size GM trucks and SUVs. The bad part of this is that GM will not recall this issue even though the cracks occur in the same places in all of these vehicles. They say it's not a safety issue - wait until the airbag deploys and the plastic shrapnel come flying towards you or the dashboard rips apart during a crash and slices through your arms, head, etc. Even worse is that GM dealerships are being authorized to repair this with GM's consent but there is no uniform pricing. Some customers are paying $100, some pay $300, others pay $750 while others do not have to pay anything. First of all, this is not the consumers' fault that these materials are defective so the customer should not have to pay anything. I have had cars and trucks from other manufacturers that were more than 5 years old and the dash and every other interior material seems to be just fine. Suffice it to say, we're not buying another GM product again. Update: The Suburban has been traded - good riddance.

Smooth luxury tank
I love my suburban. It’s a great secure feeling to be in a strong, durable, reliable vehicle. My two kids learned to drive in this car and allbe it’s massive size the convenient adjustable gas pedal and seat allows even the shortest of people to get in and raise the seat high enough to see over the hood. The only issue I have is that it doesn’t have as much clearance under the vehicle as the older models use to built into the standard vehicle....and I refuse to pay to get a lift kit. Additionally I wish the NAV console was located slightly higher for ease of seeing while driving.

I Love My Suburban (Big Black)
I've had everything from Corvettes to Jeeps (my family owned 3 new car franchises) and for a "Grown Up" the Suburban is the perfect vehicle for me at this stage (50 years old). My black LTZ gets looks everywhere because it evokes the Secret Service / Government impression. The LTZ package offers all of the amenities that I need. My actual mileage is a very respectable 15 MPG and would be substantially better if I didn't use the remote starter so much (to warm/cool the interior). Also, mileage would be better if I didn't have such a heavy foot. For me this is the right vehicle at the right time.
Best Vehicle Ever
This thing hauls, well, pretty much everything. My Family of six and 3 other adult relatives, the shortest being around 5 foot 8, travel with unbeleivable comfort. Bottom line, there is no better SUV on the market than you will find at a GM dealership.
People Mover
Best vehicle on the road for long trips.

The car luddites built
I'd had a Chevy Tahoe that I basically drove into the ground after 16 years and almost 200k miles, it was time to let it go. I liked the car so decided to go with a Suburban because of the extra room. Biggest financial blunder of my adult life. I've only had the car about 9 months, so I can't really comment on the bones. I was shocked that so much of the body is now cheap plastic. As far as technology goes, I'm surprised it even has a radio. It's so far behind the times that it's an embarrassment to drive in Silicon Valley. I kid you not, my motorcycle helmet has a better designed "infotainment" system.
The Granddaddy of SUVs
This is our second Suburban. After watching people use and enjoy these big rigs for years, we finally joined the other Suburban owners and we love them. For a "do everything, go anywhere and do it in absolute comfort", it is really hard to beat a Suburban. A/V controls are not as easy to use or see as the 2005 model and I really don't like the seats as well. But otherwise, everything is improved, especially the structure of the chassis, fit and finish and especially the addition of the 6 speed automatic transmission. We really planned to buy a new Expedition EL and test drove both of them several times, but the ride and quietness of the Suburban won out.

Mechanically sound vehicle; body rust is terrible!
We've owned our 2012 Suburban LTZ since new. I've kept up with all maintenance and I have to say, it's a mechanically sound vehicle. At 160,000 miles, it runs great although it burns a quart of oil every 4,000 miles and has since 100,000 miles. Despite waxing twice per year and car washes at least weekly, it began rusting after 7 years and 100,000 miles. First it was one corner of the hood and then it was both rear quarter panels where they meet the bumper cover. GM refused to acknowledge this as unacceptable and claimed, "our engineers have never seen this before". It's a shame that a $60,000 vehicle (in 2012) began rusting after 7 years. For this reason and because GM refused to stand behind the problems, I have decided never to buy another GM vehicle.

Great Buy
Drives so well, very smooth. It does take a lot of gas and it was hard to get used to parking, it’s not made for small spaces. Such a fantastic, comfortable ride and plenty of space for everyone.

Lemon!
This was my first American car purchased. It will also be my last. Less than six months and I've already been to the dealership four times for problems to be addressed. First was the seating. It felt like an extra bar was in the seat that was pushing upwards. It was intolerable to drive more than 5 miles without it hurting . The second was the A/C. It blows hot air when the A/C is on. Not good for a 100 degree day. Very disappointed in overall quality. I expected much more from a company that has made such a dramatic financial turnaround.

A great SUV, perfect for a large family or lots of cargo
I should preface my review by first stating that this truck was only a short term rental, however it was certainly long enough to get an idea for this truck. The space in side is gigantic. I'm 6ft. 3 and had plenty of room. Of course it's what you expect from such a large vehicle. It had excellent road manners considering it's huge size, and road manners have been vastly improved over the old Suburbans. The V8 with active fuel management was seamless in shutting off cylinders, however I feel slightly more power would have helped move this behemoth. It was adequate around down, but if I had to tow anything I would opt for the bigger engine.
2010 Chev Suburban
Great vehicle for hauling 8 people and your dog in the back, plus gear. On top, carry lumber, kayaks, canoes, multiple Yakima-Thule cargo box(s), yes, two will fit nicely. Need to sleep in the back, remove third seats and you are ready for travel and sleeping. Hauling plywood, easy as lower the back seats and put the sheets in the back. Comfortable to drive, only problem is it uses gas with a range up to 500 miles on the highway, oh, did I mention 4 wheel drive, enough said. Great vehicle.

Need To Make Some Changes
This is my fourth suburban this is my least favorite the air vents are in the wrong place and the navigation system and the knobs for the heat and air are all so low you cant see them they should have put them up higher like other cars did. this is really dangerous where it is.they should have left the cup holders like they were in the older models there in nowhere to put things in this one.the DVD system is awful in this model if you have kids you will understand. what were they thinking if the tv control gets lost you cant even work it from the back seat.had to be a man to come up with this idea and they must not have had children.wish i had my old one back dont like this one at all.
The Highwayman and Backroads Boogie
It is the perfect Mode of Transportation for me , My Doggy Milo and I do a lot of Driving and it will hold my gear and still have plenty of Space for Comfort.. It might not have the mileage of a compact or a sedan, but it has raw torque and horsepower and is proven to be Reliable.. Which is exactly what I want in a vehicle.. My Ride , My Style..

3RD & FINAL SUBURBAN
This is the 3rd Suburban LT that I've had the pleasure of owning and have had for 10 years. Bought new Jan. 2015. The only issue that I've ever had is that the interior lights don't go on. A minor inconvenience that has been ongoing for years. Not worth bringing in to fix. This truck is perfection and since reading reviews on newer models I'll be holding onto it hoping that GM can get it together. Hoping for parts and materials to be made in America someday. It does have some rust underneath, it's not garaged. In my previously owned models the undercarriage was completely rusted out by ten years. So far, I'm still good. I'm looking for a competitive replacement but after months of investigation I find nothing that motivates me to leave this 100% reliable & beautiful ride behind.

leak and shudder
Have only owned suburban for 1.5 months and have been at the dealership 2 times with them having it for a week one of those times. Sunroof leaks--I get a wash when my truck gets a wash. Dealer put in a new piece of glass, no shower this time, but still leaks. So far drip pan handles water, but what about 2 years down the road--leaks only get worse. Dealer says they are "designed to leak". Funny--salesman didn't tell me that they were suppose to leak. I wouldn't have gotten one with a sunroof if they had told me that! Also runs rough--was told that again "they all do that--it's how a Chevy idles".wow sounds like a miss to me.should have kept my ford diesel
Proudest owner of a Chevy Suburban
Best car ever. My very first Chevy and won't be the last either
Love it!
We were interested in buying a larger car for our growing family. Salesman was very helpful. He brought the Suburban down to my home in Utah County so I could see it and test drive it. Throughout the week we talked often on pricing and the type of car we wanted. He was always very patient and helpful. Krista S.
