Always ask for dealer diagnostic test copy. In some cases they simply clear codes to sell the vehicle, without fixing anything that caused the code error. I did not even get home with my truck and the engine light came on, took it to my mechanic he tested it and 10 codes had been cleared. So took the truck back and got my money back.

Overall, the 2013 Silverado 1500 is a good truck. It's not necessarily the fastest or most powerful truck out there. I tend to look more for reliability and easy to use (especially when it comes to internal electronics--radio, cruise control, etc). Yes Fords have the newer tech in some areas, and their trucks are faster and but I like the tried-and-true engine that GM tends to keep using (ie. the 4.3 Vortec which has been around for the past 2 decades or more). The 6-speed automatic w/ manual control and the 5.3L V8 is a very nice combo to get for moderate towing and fuel economy. Crew cab provides enough room for adults in rear seat.

Purchased 5 at one time. Chevy has a great program and this truck has done very well for us. Currently all 5 have 100K or more and we will look at Silverados again this year for fleet replacement.

Overall truck is very good. However some small details on substandard parts I am not happy with. Carpet used is very cheap grade. Vehicle is used for personal use only for transportation. Extra mats had to be used because with little usage the carpet wears right down to bare base. Dealers response,"well its a truck." Two hundred miles over 36,000 miles rear outside door handle fell apart. Dealer charged $200.00 to replace, unfortunately I had $200.00 deductible. My bad for not reading extended warranty thoroughly when I signed because hustler in finance advised us it was $100.00. Now handle on other side in rear is becoming loose. When first handle was repaired tech stated inferior.

11/29/24 About 70k now, everything below pretty much applies. Truck still runs great, 1 item of concern will be when the lifters crap out due to AFM. 4/27/24 Truck still runs great. 9/24/23 Truck is at 67k, Had a major service completed a while back. Truck still runs great, on my trip from California to Mississippi i averaged about 20 mpg. Truck is great for road trips. Recen/tly replaced the OEM goodforayear tires with Michelin LTX, the vibration is still there. A lot of the reviews talk about the dash cracking, this has finally happened with mine as well. Bought my truck new in 2013. I'm at 50k miles now. Do my own oil changes when the engine oil life monitor is at 0% I've only used Mobile1 full synthetic. My truck has the slight vibration that other talk about in other forums. Its not that bad, but should not be there IMO. Something is out of balance. At 50k, i'm averaging 15.6 MPG. Mostly Highway. Z71 / Four Wheel Drive I was disappointed with the rear drum brakes.. I've already had to change brake shoes. On the bright side there are no ebrake shoes like on my 2002 Silverado that i had to change about every 30-40k miles. Never had to change brake pads on the 2002 and i traded it in with 180k miles. The black paint does seem kinda cheap and tends to scratch / chip very easy. The cloth interior does seem a little subpar for this kind of money at the time. I keep thinking i want to trade it on, but there are so many bad reviews on most of the newer trucks and the newer front ends are ridiculous. Thanks to city people who talk on their phones instead of paying attention to traffic. Last time i went camping i loaded my motorcycle and all my camping gear and the rear suspension became very spongy, even have thought about installing airbags to help when loaded. I'll update as i roll more miles on.

Bought mine with 98k on it. By 101k the 4 cylinders that shutoff when on the highway, seized. Took to the dealer and truck needed a new long block. At 105k transmission blew. All covered under the extended warranty I bought. But had I not had that. Would have been 11k to repair the truck. Not certain what the previous owner did to the truck, but everything I am reading says the engine and trans issue is common.

I have owned over 60 vehicles in my life. This is my second new GM Truck, first was a 2005. I looked at toyota as i drove a tacoma before and loved it but needed bigger. Not impressed. Then Ford, nice truck, but in order to get a decent looking dash you were looking at 40K. I walked away with a 2013 for 31k. Sticker was 43K. Very happy so far. Best value in the segment.

Please be aware that when buying the Silverado Truck that the spare tire is only 17 inch. So if you buy a truck with 20 inches tires the spare is still only 17. The dealer will tell you that it is a full spare but it is not the same size as what is on the truck. Even the trucks with 18 inch tires come with a 17 inch spare.

What a great overall truck with an exceptionally low cost of ownership, change the oil, put gas in it and drive the wheels off of it every day, if you want. It will last. It looks good and drives smooth, four wheel capability with a small lift and good tires is solid as well.

The truck that I purchased is a basic work truck. It has manual locks, windows and mirrors, but it has Bluetooth and steering wheel controls, go figure. It sucks the gas if you drive it hard, just like any other vehicle. It is a comfortable ride, especially when hauling something. It does ride like a truck when empty, but not too bad. The V8 is powerful, and it makes me feel more like a real man! Haha! So far so good. I've driven the truck a little over 400 miles since I bought it, and I am still on that first tank of gas that the dealership bought, and it's been 4 weeks. Pretty amazing in my opinion! *Update* - It still runs like a champ. The only problem I have with it is minor and my fault. I miss the power windows, locks and mirrors. Other than that, I am thoroughly enjoying the truck. I'm getting ready to take my first long trip and I'm curious to see how well it rides and guzzles the gas. Oh, one more thing. The aux input sounds HORRIBLE compared to the radio, CDs or MP3s disc. Very flat and monotone and quiet. But that is all superficial, the truck runs like a beast! Not had ANY problems so far.

First off I have owned 5 GM trucks older and newer. I currently own this 2013 Silverado and a 01 Tahoe. This Truck has 92000 miles on the body and 15k on the new engine. This truck eats three quarts of oil between oil changes. I use the dex05 recommender oil and change it every 4k miles. There is a service bulletin about the oil consumption out now but not a recall. Before the new engine was put in the truck was in the shop two of the first four months I had it. Now the engine light comes on between every oil change until I refill the oil. The other big issue I have is the grade breaking assist. You should have the option to turn it off like tow mode. Every day I drive up and over a mountain and on the way down my rpms fly up to 4500 while im going 45 mph. My opinion GM needs to work the bugs out of their fuel management engines.

She has about 185K on er and the only major issue I have ever has was the mass air flow sensor went and wouldn't start. The gas mileage isn't great but most of my driving is highway and in a province that is almost always windy. The oil filter is a pain to get out. It is in a awful spot. I have to agree about the paint.. There have been a few places that have chipped off and have rusted. Not ideal, but she is almost 9yrs old (I have had her for almost 8), so if that is one of the worst things that I have to deal with, I am over it. Over all great truck for what I paid for. My LS is basic and I have no desire to replace it for anything else.

With just passing 100,000 miles, haven't had any issues, thankfully. I've got the WT 4WD version, and although kinda boring, it serves my purpose. Not bad looking, but is a bit stiff. Gas mileage could be better, but it's a 4.8 liter V8. No V8 is bought for economy. A bit sluggish getting up to speed, but holds the road nicely over 60 mph. i like it. Originally wanted an F150, but this was basically the same truck for a bit less money. I think I'll keep it for quite a long time assuming it doesn't start acting up. Overall, a good buy. It's definitely been worth what I paid for it. I'd recommend it if you're not looking for the sportiest pretty truck with all the bells and whistles.

Having the 2013 model, the rear doors can only be opened after the front doors are open. Only thing that went bad so far is the oil pressure gauge stopped working. Dealer worked with Chevrolet and got a great repair price for me.

I have ad 3 Chevy trucks. The last 2 I replaced transmissions in at about 100K.. This 2013 LTZ 1500 was purchased new and I have put 2 transmissions in it so fay. 3 other GM/Chevy products were also owned. I am in the public safety profession and this will be the last Chevy/GM product I will own. I may have to revert to Nissan, Toyota, Ford or Dodge for my next purchase. I have associates with Chevy/GM products and have either went to Ford or Dodge, due to the unreliability of the 6 speed transmissions. They all have had to replace their tranny's I even been looking into pre-purchase a Transmission and have it here at my shop, because I know it's going to fail.

I LOVE LOVE MY TRUCK... It's BIG.. Keep that in mind... Parking becomes a "task".. but that being said... I love my truck. Nice and roomy front and back. Rear seats fold up so you can carry big items in the cab of the truck. I put dual exhaust on my truck so I get about 20 miles per gallon. Everyone comments on it... I had to put running boards to help me get into the cab easier... (I'm 5 ft. 4 inch)... Trucks, where I live have great re-sale... so that being IF I keep it in great shape, I probably can sell it in a couple year for the same price I paid... THAT'S nice... The ONLY negative I can say is I have the LT model, not the LTZ, but for a 2013 model it REALLY lacks technology things that should be standard in today's age... Like blue tooth, back up camera, etc... That being said.. I LOVE MY TRUCK

Even though the interior is a little behind it is still very functional. I bought the 4x4 z71 and absolutely love it. It rides great, sounds great and has plenty of power. Being able to fold up the back seats and have basically a flat floor makes it very useful to put things in the cab or simply have a flat spot for the dog. This is my first Silverado and hopefully it will make me a believer!

First, this vehicle is not a daily driver. We typically purchase a new(er) SUV for my wife and son to use every day. I have a company truck that I drive Monday through Friday. I purchased my 2013 Chevrolet Silverado almost two years ago with 86,000 miles on it. It was a very clean and well kept truck. It is an LT with leather and a 5.3 V8. It is a crew cab. The carfax was clean and showed it came from the south. The interior was in beautiful condition, except for some cracks in the dash. Something GM is known for in these years. The back seat looked like it had never been sat it. The truck now has just over 10,000 miles on it. We live in West Virginia. I've driven down to rural Virginia and West Virginia for hunting and fishing excursions. We also drove it to Florida and back a few months ago. I try to take care of my vehicles. They are washed and maintained regularly. So far I've only changed fluids and tires on this truck. It's had a check engine light come on a couple of times which turned out to be an oxygen sensor and a purge valve. I also replaced the gas cap. It seems to have an issue with the gas tank. Specifically when I'm pumping gas, it sometimes will not let me set the pump to hold. It kicks it off like it thinks the tank is full, although it is not. The body is in good condition. Just recently, I noticed a bubble over the rear driver side fender. The front of the hood also has a lot of chips from road debris. The truck rides nicely. It shifts smoothly. It's a quiet and comfortable truck to drive. I'll be doing more preventive maintenance to it soon. I read a lot of people having issues with the transmissions in these trucks, but so far this one has been good. I credit that to the low mileage and apparent care taken by the previous owner. I'm hoping to get a few more years out of this truck. I purchased it before prices went crazy and don't want to invest in a newer truck. I would drive this truck to Florida again (1100 miles one way to our destination) and probably will a few more times in it's lifetime with me. Who knows. Maybe I'll keep it longer than planned, if it stays reliable. Just another note, previously I've had 4 Ram pickups. A 1997, 2003, 2007, 2009 (not in that order). They were all great trucks. I enjoyed them all and would buy a Ram again. I loved the Hemi. I also had a couple of Fords. A 2010 F150 and years ago a 2003 Ranger. I know there are people who love their Fords, but I'm not one of them. Mine were nothing but problems. Nice looking trucks but that was about it for me. Overall I'd say I like my Silverado. One other note, my father retired from General Motors. Growing up we only had GM vehicles. They've always been good to my family.
