2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS 2dr Coupe (3.8L 6cyl 4A)

Bought used with 14k, now have over 192,000 miles on it and I still get 28 MPG on the highway! Have the 3.8 V-6; wonder what kind of mileage I'd get with a 5 or 6 speed auto? Put down the back seats and I've carried ladders, lumber, 8-10 ft pieces of molding, vinyl flooring, you name it. Wish they hadn't stopped making it. I guess if I need to replace it I'll look for a '07.

I needed a fairly cheap car that got good gas mileage...3.8 litre preferred...with the desire to not own a tin box full of rust. I drove several cars...and either they had 140,000+ miles on it or they were $3000.00 worth of rust and bolts. I waited and shopped a bit and decided to look at a 2003 Monte Carlo SS with 112,000. Being from a G.M family, I love the 3800. And a Monte Carlo is not my favorite car, it seemed to offer exactly what I was looking for. I drove it...and I tell you it is a solid car with some class..luxury..and sporty. Great highway mileage...(30+) comfort...and the 3800. I am very impressed with my car. Being 14 years old...it lacks all of the science fiction gadgets...that you see in cars today. It has plenty for me..good stereo CD/tape...temperature and direction. Anything beyond that imho is extra stuff to go out and crush your bank account. The people who owned it before me took really good care of it...so there is very little rust...and it drives like it stood the test of time. It's not flashy...it's not incredibly fast (220 hp)..but the engine and car work wonders together. I feel like I'm in a dependable...comfortable car. I'm so impressed with this car. The only possible complaint I may have is that the back seats are a bit tight. Super car.

I HAVE A 2003 LIMITED EDITION PACE CAR MONTE # 767 OUT OF 1401. IT IS MIDNIGHT BLUE WITH SILVER FLAGS ON THE SIDE AND RED "TAZ" ON THE SIDE AND BACK. i HAVE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR MECHANCIALLY. I HAVE TINTED THE WINDOWS, PUT AN AWESOME EXHAUST SYSTEM ON IT BUT OTHER THAN THAT NO WORK HAS BEEN DONE. I CONSISTANTLY GET 30 MPG IN THIS CAR. AS MUCH AS I WOULD HATE TO GET RID OF THIS CAR I AM LOOKING AT THE 2004 SUPERCHARGED MONTE CARLO SS. LOOKING -- MIND YOU..

I don't know why GM never promoted this car.The fuel economy 20 city and 32 highway plus the fun to drive aspect make this car a much better value than the so called economy cars. I am 6'2 " 250 lbs,the two door feature of this model make it so easy to get in and out of.I love it.
