2008 BMW X5 3.0

This SUV handles the road best, compared to all the SUVs I have ever driven. Remarkable attention to detail, best looking interior immediately caught my attention. When I test drove, its handle on road made me feel like I am driving my convertible. Front and rear heated car seats, USB interface-play music from your flash drive or iPhone/iPod, panoramic moon-roof, just amazing. Comfort Access-never take out your car key from your pocket, I didn’t know I would love it so much. . Real time traffic info and rerouting feature from navigation is just amazing.

I looked at and test drove MB-350, Q-56, Escalade and found the BMW to ride the best. I am a previous BMW owner (335I) but wanted a SUV this time. The ride is smooth and I had mine custom ordered. Only have had it for a month but so far I am very happy.

Recently purchased a new BMW X5 after test driving Lexus GX, Toyota Highlander and other. BMW by far was the best to drive. The handling is smoothest of any car I have driven and really gives you confidence. The front interior cabin was the largest of all I test drove. The iDrive takes some getting used to but now I love it. I got the 3rd row seat as that is the only model they had thinking it was not a big deal as it would be folded down most of the time, but it also means you have no spare tire and have run-flats. I would suggest negotiating the extended tire warranty in the deal with a third row seat. Gas mileage is ok.

Clogged roof drains (I figured it out not the dealer) caused electrical problems under rear floor mats which lead to display and warning lights indicating worn out rear brakes. Not true. Then the I Drive display went to almost zero illumination. Then the parking brake module died..$2500.. now a valve cover oil leak threatens the variable valve timing module. $2000 plus. Only 185,000 km. Regular suspension repairs due to corrosion. Right front door handle has turned to rubber goo from someones sun block.. should never happen. The list goes on and on. But it still looks really good even though the plastic headlight covers are crazing from u.v. Just a bad bad car.. we havent bothered to fix these last issues because the repairs cost more than the car is worth. Run. Don't look back. To quote the Nothern Pikes "She ain't pretty she just looks that way" May 2022. I still have the same feelings about this car. Looks good, handles nice, average gas consumption but high test at $2.30 a liter means $175 a tank or more. Poor reliability though. Automobile assn. would not flatbed it one year on the wifes card, 5 trips to the shop on her card, 2 on mine. Hunk of junk. If you want to waste money go ahead but there are better used cars out there.

Fuel pump went out on interstate 80 in remote Wyoming 18 months after being replaced by a dealer on a recall. Called BMW customer service to start the process of getting reimbursed for the defective part. Was told it is not covered unless repaired by a certified BMW dealer. What are you supposed to do when there is no dealers within 250 miles. All told this breakdown cost over $2k. Thanks BMW for nothing!!!
