We looked at a RX350, RDX, X3, SRX. This is the runaway winner. Great timeless design, wonderful interior design and material quality, great step in height and the list goes on. Bought this after owning a 2012 ML350. My wife is 5 foot and ML350 step in height too high. She loves this vehicle, great for a shorter person, perfect size. Have all options on ours except 19 inch wheels. Wish it had power tilt/telescoping wheel, probably only missing options. Very thoughtfully designed, seems overpriced but the devil is in the details. It was worth $8000 more than the RDX after sitting in both back to back. Have had it for a months and we love it, still like my BMW 550 more though!

I was impressed and planned to upgrade to the top model '14 Subaru Forester XT after driving my '02 Forester for the past 12 yrs but after test driving the Audi Q5, the overall quality, detail, and refinement of Audi completely ruined the XT for me! For comparison the XT has more power (250 hp), better fuel economy (avg 25 mpg), greater cargo space (~75 cu ft), and costs ~$5000 less. No matter you can feel the superior quality and craftsmanship in material, workmanship, and engineering in every detail and step of the gas pedal in the Audi. I love the quick acceleration in Sport mode and the refined executive styling and boss 18" wheels! I look fwd to and enjoy driving it each and every day!

Bought used 2014 Q5 from Audi dealer. Owned it for 5 months now.. Car had 120KM with all service records done at Audi. My first German car as I always bought Japanese brands due to reliability. Good: Nice ride for 4 cyl. Very quiet and comfortable. Nice interior finish and quality. Good fuel economy.That's about it. Bad: Crappy transmission. When car is cold very harsh gear shifting into 2-end and 3-rd gear.. Smooths out when car warms up to operating temperature.(please note that dealer told me transmission is NOT servicable as it is sealed and if there is any issues it is a replacement job at the tune around $4-5K ) Oil consumption. I thought Audi fixed the problem after 2012 models , but apparently not. Still consuming about a liter of oil for 2000Km. Audi says it's normal. Never had that on any other car with 3 x the milage. Transmission "chatter". When crowling to a stop car starts to "jerk" like it is loosing tranny. Happens once in a while but makes me nervous. dealer didn't seem surprise , but can't find cause. Head light fogs up. Audi dealer says it's normal.( I guess it is for Audi) Auto folding mirrors sometimes act up and don't fold. I had service engine come on 3 times in 5 months. 1 for camshaft position sensor , twice can't tell as went off on it's own before I was able to diagnose. I had to buy OBD scanner after 30 years of driving cars. Overall nice ride comperable to my previously owned RX350 and MDX, but won't last even close to what others did from the looks of it. Good ride is ruined by poor Engine/Tranny design or workmanship. instead of enjoying the car I wait for what will go next. I won't keep this car for long and would never buy Audi again or recommend it to anybody. One year update.: Axle boot has cracked, ($250) Mirrors still acting up Transmission still crappy Refrigerant started to leak somewhere (not yet determined where) AC doesn't blow as cold as it used to Burning about 1 liter of oil for 3500KM. Conclusion: Unless you buy a new one and plan to get rid of your AUDI before waranty expires I would not recommend buying one. ( Unless you like to keep spending $$$$ for constant issues). I spent some time on AUDI forums looking for solutions and it seems Audis are plaqued with these small problems left and right. Too bad as it could be a nice ride. But for me ......I go back to Japanes brands..... At 130,000 kilometers car started burning 1L of oil for 600-700 KM.Was told by AUDI to keep oil in the car and keep adding as needed , aeventually replacing motor at $10K cost. NO thank you. Traded in for Acura. Not perfect but so far much more reliable than Audi.so far Update: Two years later not a single issue with Acura. It was a good decision to get rid of Audi and go back to Made in Japan brand...... SOLD crappy Audi for years ago , bought Acura RDX not a single issue. Couldn't be happier.

Bought my 1st Q5 in 2010 (3.2, in Canada), and had to sell when we went overseas. Came back to US and leased a Q5 again since 1st time it was so great. But things have just gone downhill for Q5 quality: - Check engine light came at 3000 miles - Multiple trips to dealer to fix it - Rear tire starting showing low pressure - Again, multiple trips to fix it - Other rear tire BURST...yes just BURST on the highway at high speed....lucky to be not hurt - Stayed for 30 mins on hold before Audi roadside assistance could finally help - Got home and dealer basically not even responding to have the tire replaced ! No am not talking free....but a fully paid one from me? wtf !
Brakes at 31,000 Miles

At 31,000 miles, the dash indicator screen told me I needed brake pads. Over a third of those miles were put on during 2 road trips. Yet when I questions Audi both at the dealer level and at the corporate level, I was told that on the Q5 & Q7 models, the brake pads must be replaced around 25,000 to 30,000 miles. I have owned many automobiles including 5 other Audi cars. I have never had to replace brakes at 25 - 35,00 miles
