1st Audi A6 review

Beautifully designed inside and out. Great drive. BOSE sound system is incredible. My A6 performed flawlessly the 1st year but then problems started. At 9k miles the # 5 cylinder coil had to be completely replaced. At 10k miles, carbon buildup caused the check engine light to come on again. The on-board computer had to be reprogrammed. In addition to all this, Audi's consume oil like no other car I've ever owned. I literally have to drive around with a quart of oil in my trunk because it needs to be constantly topped up. 5 times this year alone. Finally, the front suspension is starting to creak on rough roads and it's getting progressively louder. Disappointing for a car this new.

Great Looking but Unreliable

Have my 2009 A6 for less than a year and it has been in for a service call at least 5 times up to date. Headlights, engine problems with only 6500 miles. What a shame! Great looking automobile that is extremely unreliable.

Best car I've ever owned out of seven.

I've owned this car for TWO years. Only "major" repairs have been one loose engine mount and the radiator. Totaling less than $900.00. I've had a few "small" repairs totaling less than $600.00 or so. I drive three times more than the average person, by the way, for work. I've owned some decent cars, but the car right before this one was the worst car I've ever owned. A Pontiac G3. So, it was like going from eating expired potato chips (your least favorite flavor by the way), to eating at your favorite steakhouse, with your best friends, meeting the love of your life that night, and having dessert WITH her. Okay, a mild exaggeration, but this car is literally the best car I've ever owned. I love almost everything about it. It runs and drives excellent. Zero to sixty in about 6.5 seconds. 3.2 V6 model. Bose sound system sounds great. Beautifully designed car, very classy and subdued, tons of compliments on it. Smooth ride, love the CVT, part of what makes it so smooth. The leather is great quality, only barely cracking a tiny bit on the seat after 12 years. I have the 2008 model. Spacious, yet nimble. Only downsides to this car is the handling, a little bit less traction than I'd like, but this may be due to subpar tires to be honest. A/C kind of has a mind of its own, unless you readjust it every few minutes -- others have said there's no real "fix" for this. For example, if you want it blowing super cold, it will "turn itself down" after a minute or two for some reason, but if you turn it back up, it will stay up. I only use premium gas, which is a bit expensive, but I believe it keeps the car running forever honestly. Oil changes are $100.00 a pop, unless you do them yourselves. This is a luxury car, so you shouldn't buy it unless you can take care of it regardless, so maybe a non-item. Top ceiling cloth is a bit hard to clean unless you're super careful with it. Other than these things, this car is a dream. Highly, highly recommend.

Better than you expect.

The 2008 A6 replaced my 2001 A6. While the 2001 A6 was a solid car, Audi has upped their game significantly with the 2008. The build quality is outstanding - equal or better than my wife's MB E320. The interior is beautiful, a great blend of class and high tech. The car is very fun to drive, tight in turns, plenty of pep for a V6 and the MPG is far better than the the gov't ratings - 26/27mpg in mixed driving, 30+mpg on the road. The MMI system with the Bose/Sirius is easy to use, and the high tech display is excellent. The cabin is very quiet, so you can really enjoy the great sound system - great improvement from the Audi Symphony system in my 2001 A6. Overall, this is a terrific car.

Driving dynamics are brilliant. The car rides like a train on the rails. There is no slipping nor sliding. Quattro system makes sure of that. Every mechanical component works in total harmony with each other. The interior appointments must be an envy of every other automaker. From the incredible ergonomics to the impeccable attention to the slightest details, this car clearly is a winner.
