I love this car. I actually purchased the 2000 model, but they didn't have anywhere for me to sound off, so I'm doing it here. I recently had to decide whether or not to trade in my A6 for a BMW 530 and I actually started to cry at the thought of giving up my car. Needless to say, my A6 is still safely parked in my driveway.
Audi A6 a bad experience
I have owned the car for 42 days and it has been at the dealership with five problems for 21 days of the 42 days I have owned it. The malfunction light came on twice (catalytic conv. & purge valve), windshield fluid canister, unable to turn key even after forcing wheel, alarm goes off randomly, they have no idea why!!

Very Happy!
To put my rating in perspective, I came out of 3 yrs in a BMW 535, and 3 yrs in a 540. This car is a very pleasant surprise. Very nice response from the twin turbo-kicked engine. Optional sport package suspension w/ 17" wheels and Dunlop 9090's provides excellent road handling in the twisties. Looking forward to the Quattro here in Minnesota. If the BMW's were "10/10ths", this 2.7T is 8.5/10ths, and for the money, I'll take it.
Great car -- for the money
This is a really great car. It's a hoot to drive, it's fast, it looks hot, the quality is top-notch. It's worth another $10k (but Audi's reputation can't support it) -- and it beats everything else in its class. And keep in mind, I've owned BMWs, Porsches, and M-Bs. The Quattro is smooth. The turbos scream. I've got the Sport Package -- and I'm glad I do. Steering is a little vague; not enough road feel. And...watch out for the front bumper. It's very low (for a sedan). You don't want to hook it on a parking stop.
I'm the envy of all my friends
My son who actually works for a Mercedes Benz dealer suggested that I look at the Audi Quattro's. As a woman in her early 70's has driven American cars all her life, I was impressed with the comfort and feeling of control the moment I got behind the steering wheel and went on the test drive. Years later I am happy to say this has been the best car I have ever owned. No extra trips to the shop between services and now with the new synthetic oil I take it in only once a year. I feel bad that I didn't buy a car from my son but he agrees that I purchased the best car for my needs and the harsh winter weather in the Pacific Northwest.
