Love this car
Handling, ride, comfort, and noise level are all fantastic. I average about 30 mpg and I drive pretty aggressively. Build quality is excellent. I have a manual transmission with sport pkg, heated seats, bi-xenon headlights and the upgraded sound system and paid $35K. The stereo is fantastic too. The only problem I've had was the alignment getting out of whack for some reason, but the dealer corrected it and I haven't had any other maintenance issues to report.
Pretty Looking Piece of Junk
My Audi A4 was the subject of TWO lawsuits against Audi. One was for the car burning oil at an alarming rate which resulted in Audi rebuilding my engine and replacing the pistons. The second was for a timing chain defect. In all my Audi has had 6 problems and over $10,000 in repairs. They have been: excessive oil consumption (rebuild done by Audi as part of lawsuit settlement), a new turbocharger, a new AC system, new control arms, a new timing chain and tensioners, and a new high pressure fuel pump. Audi did not cover my timing chain issue because I was over 100,000 miles. I believe the timing chain issue to be related to the oil consumption defect and rebuild, however my dealer nor AoA did nothing to help me. Audi does not make a quality product nor stand behind their product quality unless they are sued as per my experience. I passionately do not recommend an Audi to anyone.

Burns oil, expensive to fix
It’s a very comfortable beautiful fun to drive car. Burns a lot of oil - a quart every month. Gear box gets clogged once in a while; trunk refused to close a few times, then it worked again next day. I bought a 2011 A4 Quattro with 80k on board and already put in a couple grand within one year - sensors breaking, coolant fluid leaking; more is coming on breaks, removing window taint to pass NY inspection. Gas consumption 23mpg, it’s high, but we knew that. I do love driving this car. Just wish it did not need all that expensive fixing.

Cannot duplicate
Purchased Nov 8, 2011. Odometer now shows 4015 miles (as of Feb 10, 2012 when it was towed to dealer). Beginning at about 1000 miles, engine made serious noise when first started in the mornings. To an untrained ear, it sounds like a bad bearing noise emanating from something at the front of the engine. Car has been to dealer service twice for a cumulative 9 days. Techs and Service Advisor have listened to audio recordings of the noise, but report that they cannot duplicate the problem; hence, they cannot fix the problem. I found several YouTube postings by A4 owners with the same problem. Dealer says, "it's normal," yet, it did not make the noise for the first 1000 miles.
Audi Avant Oil Burner
Do not purchase 2012 Audi Avant Wagon unless you want to add a quart of oil every 300 miles - worse vehicle ever!
