    Have a 2005 v70 with the same problem. They changed my fluids, did the software update but I still have the clunking and I'm sure the transmission is about to go. Would never buy a Volvo again.

    Our Volvo's transmission totally died. This was NOT diagnosed by the Volvo dealer -- they "could not duplicate the problem." In fact, the owner of, Union Park Volvo in Wilmington DE, told me it was likely caused by the emissions. He actually blamed government standards being too strict on car emissions!! Nut job!     I installed the Volvo wiring harness and hitch on a 2004 V70 base model. I don't know if the 2005 is the same installation. I bought the hitch and harmess before reading the instructions.     Volvo manuals have NEVER been popular. They just gather dust on dealer lots. The S60 2.4 is available only to fleet companies for 2005. The V70 2.4 continues.

    We should have 2005 model info sometime next month. Right now all there are just rumors floating around. Look for monochrome treatments on the bumpers and moldings(finally), as well as changes to the dash and interior. No info on engine changes although there is a rumor going around that Volvo will not import the V70R for 2005.
