Recently I have noticed my average MPG rising very quickly. I rarely look at the instant MPG but when I did, I noticed it was getting stuck at 99mpg for quite some time regardless of me pushing down the gas... Does anyone have any experience with this problem? 1996 Lincoln TownCar Executive
I have a 1996 Lincoln Town Car, Cartier addition with 108,000 mi. I had the a/c on and have noticed no airflow through the vents when the climate control was set at automatic or maximum. However, I could hear the blower working strong. I went online and read many forums, including this one, and most of the answers relating to this problem involved checking or replacing the blend door actuator, or ... Read More
I want to replace the door hinges on a 1996 Lincoln Town Car. In addition to the four bolts that hold the hinges, there is a non headed bolt that has a nut on the inside of the car. Does anyone know how to get to nuts that appear to be inside the car?
I have a 1996 Lincoln Town Car and it is eating a lot of oil. There are no visible links, and no oil coming out of the exhaust. Any suggestion as to what may be causing this. I am putting about 1 qt of oil in every two weeks.
I have a 1996 Lincoln Town car. The climate control system is blowing full hot all the time, regardless of the temp set in the unit. In my research on the internet, I've read about other with the same problem who have replaced the control head and didn't solve the problem. Luckily it's winter here, so I can live with it for awhile. :-) Have you encountered this problem before. Would ... Read More
NO NO NO! That's an aux. cooling fan to assist the A/C, it runs when ever the A/C is going to cycle for instance, if you have the climate control in AUTO - FLR/DEF - DEF - NORM A/C - MAX A/C the fan will run. If you set it to say VENT - FLR - or OFF the fan will stop in a minute of two. Ford had a problem ... Read More
When the radiator fan runs all the time, guess it could be a faulty temperature sensor needing to be replaced. Not expensive and better than a dead battery as a result of continual running.
Hi Shawn, I have a 1997 tc that does the exact same thing. I had no idea what fan was running but it is extremely loud. It runs when the car is in the garage, all times of day and night !!! It started about a yr ago w/mine. Since I am ready to trade it in, I haven't had it seen about. I am scared to go out of town ... Read More

Hi, The car in question is a 96 Lincoln Towncar. When I turn on the ignition, it starts, but dies as soon as I let go of the gas pedal. However, after I called AAA, the guy held the gas pedal down for a couple of minutes, and it then worked - at least long enough for me to drive it to a garage. The garage I took it to says ... Believe it or not, between 1994 and 1996, a certain Cadillac did have a Chevrolet engine. The Fleetwood and Fleetwood Brougham to be exact, and the engine was Chevy's 350 c.i. LT1. The small block moved these cars from 0-60 in 8 seconds, and generated 260 h.p. and 330 ft/lbs of torque. That's pretty respectable for a big 4,500 pound sedan... Anyhow, I just wanted to correct you on that little ... Read More
