On the drive home this evening I noticed what sounded like a loud machine gun being fired from my driver's rear wheel. I seemed to lose my steering for a split second and my brakes as well. It only lasted for a second but then began happening intermittently the whole way home. I pulled over on the side of the highway and got under the car and looked at it but ... Read More

My name is Tony and this is my family's 2nd Isuzu product. The first was a 1994 Rodeo (stock base 5speed model) in 1995. It took us 15 years to purchase our 2nd Isuzu. We recently purchased a 94' Trooper LS. I purchased it for $1,250 with 4 bad tires and a very loud slapping timing belt and a rusted exhaust. I've owned a few trucks, but out of them all ... isuzu rodeo 1995 wont start. Been like this for 10 days till yesterday. Replaced spark plugs, it cranked and ran all day. Today it started then died and wont crank. Fuel pressure is good, fuel pump working. The last few months it sometimes blows black exhaust from the tail pipe and runs a little sluggish when this is happening. I'm having an overheating prob in my 1995 Rodeo Isuzu. I've put in a new thermostat, new radiator to no avail. The fan is "supposedly" working, said a mechanic that wanted $500 for new radiator and labor. So I put in a new radiator and that is not the problem. Can a bad radiator cap have something to do with overheating? Can't imagine what the real problem is now.

I just replaced the clutch and all its associated parts i.e." through bearing, flywheel, pilot bearing, disk, and pressure plate. I also replaced the master and slave cylinder. I don’t think it’s a clutch issue anymore. Any ideas.

Not trying to be facetious but if this were mine I would jack it waay up in the air and drive a new vehicle under it and go about my business....... Sounds like it is going to cost you more than the vehicle is worth, especially given all the trouble you have had with it.

I have a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo. Late last week a funny thing started happening with the transmission. When it is engaged from either park or neutral, it will not go anywhere. The feeling is one of the emergency brake being on or being backed up to a brick wall. You can floor it and still get nothing - motor loads up like its in gear so I don't know. HELP

Yours is a 1st gen Rodeo. I had isuzu pick-up back on 1995 (Philippines) with similar suspension and I immedidately replaced the shocks with monroe gas matic shocks (blue) which improved the ride over bumps and potholes. Lately, ihave a '99 Passport (rodeo twin) and I experimented with Bilstein but later settled with Monroe monomatic plus shocks. To my experience, Monroe gives the most comfortable ride.
