The fact that you bought a new $54,000 1998 Q45 for $40,000 should tell you something. Either the Q45 was overpriced, nobody wanted it, or both. Simple economics. Note that doesn't mean it's a bad car (although your generation Q45 was known to have been born out of much cost cutting). Regardless, what Infiniti did by discounting the car so much really hurt their image and resale value. With the new ... Read More

  • why I drive a Q45

Let me weigh in here! I drove a Lexus LS400 for 8 years before buying a Q45 as a replacement. Why? Simple. When I went to the Lexus dealer to buy a new one (1998), they had no LS400 in the showroom but assured me they would put me on the waiting list for a full sticker price ($65,000). I had paid $35,000 for my 1991 Lexus so quite a shock. ... Read More

I'm new to this board, coming from the J30 board--recently replaced my 1994 J30 with a Q45--needed a larger car for the family. My wife has a 1998 I30 and so does her father, so we are an Infiniti family. I recently purchased a 1994 Infiniti Q45 with Bose sound system. It has an AM/FM/cassette deck, buttons for CD, but no CD player. I thought I would just install a trunk ... Read More

I really like my 1998 Q45 and the Customer Service I have received except for one problem Infiniti seems to be unable to repair for me over the past 18 months. When the outside temperature is between 50 to 65 degrees, especially at night it has an occasional tendency to blow air conditioned (cold) air, even from the floor (heater). Its like the car thinks its blowing heated air but its ... Read More

  • Infiniti depreciation definitely an issue

habitat1, I also had the 95 Maxima ES and it was a great car. Great acceleration that left both the Accord and the Camry far in its dust. Not to mention it looks a beck of a lot sexier. Regarding Infiniti depreciation, you have a good point. I am now looking to buy a used Q45 (1998) and I have seen a lot of great deals. These cars originally sold for ... Read More
