A great buy Used 1998 Concorde LXI
Written by: iamallused on May 4, 2007 4:30:55 PM
I recently purchased the LXI for $3,300 with 96,000 on the odometer,it has all the creature comforts plus moonroof. Everything is functional on this car. After reading through many of your posts for the LXI, questions concerning buying a used LXI or LX has come up. Never buy the LX for any REASON. Do your research, a horrible engine. The LXI is a proven winner engine wise. Let me say all ... Read More

Written by: pwilliams5 on Sep 26, 2008 2:32:18 PM
OK I'm rebuilding a 2.7 liter V6 in a 1998 Chrysler Concorde LX for my boss. Here's the only issue I'm concerned about for the moment. is re installation of the Crankshaft Damper or pulley it was removed using a 3 jaw puller. but to reinstall a special tool C-4685-C1 is required it says cant justify spending 50 bucks on a tool i'm only going to use once. is there any ... 1998 Chrysler Concorde Electrical Issue
Written by: winter2 on May 26, 2008 6:58:52 PM
My wife drives a 1998 Concorde with the 2.7L V-6 and it has less than 53K miles on it. We bought it new. Any how, the issue is that when it rains the odometer, the gear indicator in the dashboard, the clock on the radio and the overhead computer flash together from less bright to very bright and back randomly for several minutes and then it stops for a while. I ... Read More

1998 Concorde Limo
Written by: beach15 on Oct 13, 2002 3:15:59 PM
Well, it's rare to see something like this for sale (other than the 01' M this past summer), but a local used car dealer has a 1998 Chrysler Concorde LXI limo for $14,995. This would be quite an interesting buy, especially as a normal, everyday car. It would be kind of cool though...wonder how it drives (i.e. really noisy like most stock 98's?). Need info on 1998 Concorde LXI
Written by: rgarcia5 on Apr 29, 2002 7:38:45 PM
I just recently purchased a used 1998 chrysler concorde LXI. I noticed a button on the dash below the radio that reads "Traction Control" I notice that when I initially start the car it lights up on the dash "Traction On" and "Traction Off" then they both disappear. However, when I press the button I'm referring to, it lights up on the dash as "Traction Off" I guess my question is, ... Read More

Car Stalling ?
Written by: BINU on Oct 3, 2001 10:43:31 AM
My car :1998 Chrysler Concorde Lxi Yesterday, while trying to start the car, the car would start faintly and then die off. This happened a few times. I even felt a very mild vibration for 1-2 seconds before the car died off. Then I stepped on the gas pedal and started the car. This kept the car from dying off. Then I shifted to drive and drove off to the dealer. ... Read More

Cargo Net
Written by: 401k on Nov 11, 2000 4:22:52 PM
Actually, fastdriver, the 1998 Concorde did not come with a cargo net as standard equipment. If randman1 has a 1998 model, he should simply pick one up at his local Chrysler dealer. As much as I am known on this board as an unabashed "Concorde Lover", I DID find that 1998 oversight by Chrysler to be a bit ridiculous, given the "Grand Canyon" that one finds when you open the trunk ... A few comments on various subjects... First of all, on the face of it, it would seem that the price that the dealer offered for the 2000 LXi was pretty decent. It would appear (without doing real number-crunching) that it is a couple thousand below invoice. My humble opinion is that it doesn't hurt to haggle, but be prepared to pay the asking price if the dealer stands firm. Secondly, I ... Read More

New concorde
Written by: pqt2 on Jul 28, 2000 6:14:52 AM
Call me nuts but I just purchased a new 2000 Concorde LXI. Traded in my 1998 Concorde LXI with 36K. Over all I was very happy with the '98. Road noise was not that bad, had the driverside door wind noise problem fixed, the computer replaced at about 20k and the driver's window motor replaced at 30k. Considering I remember when you could fix your family sedan with a pair of ... Read More

sticking windows mmanson2

My 1998 chrysler concorde has had a problem with windows sticking in the up position. The problem occurred in the heat of the day and when it cooled down outside I was able to lower windows. I have found out that damp moisture has got into the window tracks causing them to stick at the top rubber part. The Dealer said it is a problem and the tracks and upper rubber ... Read More

I don't usually respond unless I have negative comments as I think is the case with most on this board. However, I am going to as I have had my Lxi for over two years and LOVE it. Before this I owned three Audi's and purchased the Lxi because it has all the creature comforts of the Audi and more, for $15,000 less price. I have had no problems whatsoever. My ... Read More

I Love It
Written by: jthardy on May 13, 2000 11:32:56 PM
I own a 1998 concord that has almost 35,000 miles on it now and I still love it. I had some problems with an intermittent drivers door window but since that was fixed every thing has been great. I do not see road noise as a problem with this car(especially) compared to several others out there. I will probably buy another chrysler product when the time comes.

Concorde 3.2L v. 3.5L
Written by: thompson9 on Apr 29, 2000 10:40:09 PM
Dear Engineers, Physicists, et al: Since I've owned both a '97 Concorde LX and a '98 Concorde LXi, I can tell you from experience that from a dead stop, the 3.5L 24-valve Concorde LX was far and away a more powerful engine than the 3.2L 24-valve LXi. I am neither an engineer, mathematician nor physicist so I won't speculate about the torque, rpms or foot pounds/pounds feet. My understanding is that ... Read More

I had the thrill of riding in a client's Ferrari 360 Modena the other day. What a ride! However, it MUST be a pretty crummy car, according to what I've read here. The road/wind/engine noise that invaded the passenger cabin was outrageous! Especially for a $140,000 car! When you pay that kind of money, you would expect the car to at least be as quiet as one of those squishy Japanese ... Read More

bad engines
Written by: clayton4 on Mar 23, 2000 2:54:54 PM
I have a 1998 Concorde that I had to replace the engine in at 42000 miles. The engine went bad because of a bad thermostat. Chrysler would not help me with this and I had to pay 4500.00 out of my pocket. This is after I already had to pay 1345.00 for a bad rear seal. I have never dealt with such unprofessional people as I had to at my dealership. ... Read More

"Zone charges" are Chrysler's expression for the "advertising charges" you'll see reference to on the new vehicle pricing and information pages on Edmund's. Go check the 1999 Concorde LX information; it's right below the autobytel.com blurb, in brackets. They also pull some Mickey Mouse stuff with their charges for customer information system ($20), and seven gallons of gas, or whatever it is. Nit-picky, I'm sure you'll agree, but there it was ... 2000 Concorde
Written by: countrylawyer on Aug 8, 1999 3:36:02 PM
Just yesterday saw a 2000 Concorde on the lot at King Cotton Motors in Covington, Tennessee. They hadn't done the usual post-delivery check-outs on it yet, so I couldn't sit in it or drive it, but a brief through-the-window eye-ball revealed that Chrysler seems to have addressed my one aesthetic concern with the 1998-99 models, viz. the tacky-looking gauges. The first two years have dashes that don't look noticeably nicer than ... Read More
