Re: 2002 s10 power window problem [claudiam1]
Written by: toby_pitt on Dec 26, 2005 12:47:36 PM
I have the same problem with my 2000 Chevy S10 Blazer. The power windows don't work at all. The fuse is fine, but the wiring diagram says there is a 30 amp circuit breaker that I can not find in the I/P fuse panel or in the under the hood fuse box. Anyone know where this circuit breaker is hidden or what else I should look for? Thanks, toby_pitt

Re: 2000 Chevy S-10 -- reliable truck? [pattyjw59]

I own a 98 and about 2 years ago I needed the tranny rebuilt. When I was in getting it fixed, the mechanics told me that that is a fairly common problem with Chevy S-10's and Blazers. Other than that, nothing too major. My wiper motor went out and I was without windshield wipers for awhile, that was interesting!

I have a 1997 chevrolet S10 extended cab with 4x4. Overall it is a good vehicle. I've had to replace an ABS sensor and a wiper board. Also the Transfer Case Control Module seems to have a problem which stops the 4x4 from working. I simply get it working again by turning the ignition switch on, disconnect then reconnect the harness from the TCCM and then it works again. I don't ... Read More

2000 Chevy S-10 -- reliable truck?
Written by: pattyjw59 on Dec 10, 2005 7:00:02 PM
I am considering buying a 2000 S-10, allegedly with less than 40,000 miles (I am going to look at it tomorrow but will not be making a decision yet) for $8000. I would like to know what kind of problems to expect, if any. For example, I bought a used Taurus and found out later they were notorious for bad trannys. Sure enough, my tranny later went out. So I'd like ... Read More

Re: SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT [harley88]

We are having a similar problem with a 2000 Chevy S10. We were told it was probably due to the oversize tires we put on it. When we take it to Auto Zone they say the code can't be read...like no "power" is going to the code.(?). Did you purchase the kit you were talking about? Did it work? Summit Auto Racing suggested we purchase the same type of kit to ... Read More

S10 losing antifreeze at a rapid rate, no leak
Written by: fhvicki on Nov 22, 2005 9:22:58 AM
My 2000 Chevy S10 has been using antifreeze like crazy. I fill up the resevoir one day & the next day it's empty. My service engine soon light keeps going on & off. It hasn't run hot once & there are no detectable leaks when it is parked overnight or after driving for a distance. Nothing is leaking on the inside either. What generally causes this? I know there are probably ... Read More

Chevy S-10 Problems

I have a 2000 Sonoma 5 speed 4 cyl. Not a great truck but generally a good truck. It has been driven mostly around town and has a total of about 15000 miles on it. Normally it starts with the first turn of the key. If the temperature is below 10 degrees it won't even think about firing. Later in the day as the temperature warms up it starts fine again. ... Minor whine in 2000 Ext Cab

Greetings all - a little freaked to read all the problems in the S-10's, but I'll just trust my gut and have my forever loyalty in Chevy's. :) Anyway, just purchased a used 2000 S-10 V6 TODAY and it's in great condition, runs really well and nothing seems to have broken off yet! To the point: When we started it on the lot, it had the little whiney sound coming from ... Read More

I have a 2000 Sonoma with 4 cyl and 5 speed New Venture Transmission. It has made noise since new with the transmission in neutral and your foot off the clutch. I am told that this is normal--what else is new. Any input on this? Anyone had any experience on a fix for this?

Like I said in my previous post, I picked up a Space Blue 2000 S-10 LS, with sliding rear window, chrome bumpers, body side mouldings, CD, Air, 4 cly, 5 speed, mats, etc. for $10,000. It was used, but had only 1300 miles on it. The private party even paid the registration and half the taxes on it also. Looking in the paper the same car closed out in the low ... Read More

Just picked up a 2000 LS with 1300 miles on it for $10,000 (bought it from a guy that won it in a contest) and what a dream. It has everything I would want in a small pickup. Right now 25 mph with the 4 cyl, 5sp. Sliding rear window, cd, bedliner, carpets, etc. It drives like a truck, but is very comfortable. I have owned Chevys in the past and ... Read More

I also have a 2.2 in my 2000 S-10. I just returned from a trip up to Tahoe, fully loaded with gear. Except for the fact that I had to shift down in the hills it performed flawless. No vibration at all at 70+ mph. I will sacrifice a little lack of power for 29 mph. The Vortec engine is totally different from all the other previously built 4 cyl. Do ... Read More

S-10 XTREME 2000

As for me, I had a 96 S-10 rear-ended 3 times, and the only service it required with 86,000 miles, were half a can of 134a freon. New pads front and back and I had the drums and rotors turned. The accidents caused my clutch to go out each time, but that was it. I changed the oil every 3000 miles or sooner if I would go over. It had a ... Read More

There was an interesting PIE CHART in AUTOMOBILE MAGAZINE regarding import ingrediants of DOMESTIC vehicles. The only vehicle with near 100% US components was Saturn with Ford T-BIRD a close 82%, Majority of trucks and components are quite a mixture of foreign made....Jeeps made in canada, many GM engines made in Hermosillo, Mexico, Many joint ventures of GM/Japan mfrs in US, NUUMI plant in Fremont, Calif makes Toyota mini-trucks, most of ... After all of my problems (see posting #77) with my 98 s-10, I decided to get rid of it before it the warranty expired and I was stuck paying repairs on that piece of junk. I now own a 2000 Ranger XLT and love it. And now I don't know why anybody would pick the s-10 over the ranger. The ranger is obviously a more reliable truck, it rides smoother and ... Read More

2000 S10 2WD SB 4.3 Auto

I've had my new S10 for just over 3 months now and have 3300 miles on it. I got rid of my '97 Dodge Ram 2WD SB 5.2 5sp...it just felt too big for driving in heavy traffic in the Bay Area (and it developed too many problems, but that's another story)...guess I'm a little-truck kinda guy, at least for day-to-day driving. Sure is easy to get around in parking lots. ... Read More
