hey loopsy i have the EXACT problem with mine. what was the fix?
Did you find out what it is and could you share it? Same thing is going on with mine.
did anyone find out what the problem is...same thing is going on with my daughter's car
I was the victim of predatory towing; worse is that the guy messed up my driver's side door, so the power window won't work (buick century 1995 3.1 liter 6 cyl). It needs a new power window motor. How can I find the number to this part to order it? My mechanic said he'd install it for me if I got a replacement motor -- either used or new one. Can ... Read More
I slid on a slick road and hit the car in front of me; airbag deployed on my 1995 buick cent. 3.1 v6, amazingly fast--bag expanded and contracted in a fraction of a second. No injuries for either party. Didn't even realize what happened until bag deflated. I can't tell how fast I was going but there was minimal damage to my front end, so little that when I showed it ... Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your 1995 Buick Century? I have almost the same exact thing happening with mine right now. I did not change the starter but did replace a fender and did some headlight work due to an accident. Now the ABS light is on and most of the items you identify don't work for me either. They did work for a couple of days ... Read More
Sorry to hear about all the bad weather and all the bad luck. I'm not familiar with the 95 but it doesn't sound to me like breakers, fuses, and bulbs are your problem. I'm thinking more like cables, grounds, bonding straps, and cable connections. To effectively trouble-shoot electrical problems these days a person pretty much needs some instruments to work with. Maybe its time to get some outside help. Good luck. ... Read More
Where is the circuit breaker located on this car. I only have an owners manual thats it. We are getting blasted with snow and wind and freezing temps. I started the car a few times yesterday now she won't start got to get a jump. So am stalled at the moment. I am out here checking wires and bulbs and fuses with a tester. I do not have a volt meter ... Read More
Electrical trouble-shooting is time consuming and wears on the patients. What I usually do is use a voltmeter and start back tracking till I find a voltage. Sometimes a bad ground wire connection can cause havoc. My experience on headlights is most of the time they have a bad ground or open circuit. They don't use fuses or fuzable links. They use a circuit breaker that opens and closes when it ... Read More
I have a 1995 Century Wagon 3.1L engine. I have a 1995 Buick Century. The dash lights are out. When I put the headlights on the radio light goes out. Also, the lights showing the door handles and the power locks and windows are out. What fuse do I replace if it is a fuse?
My mom has a 1995 Buick Century which runs quite well. An unknown electrical anomaly causes the battery to discharge to 0volts without obvious cause. The internal or DOME lights seem to be the problem. They stay ON until the battery runs dead, even when the doors are slammed closed...as this should time to turn them off in a few minutes. Any suggestions would help at this point..Thanks
an electrical short in your system, get a meter that measures current and voltage and test your battery and the connections. I had to replace the battery cables and the battery then I had the alternator tested at autozone the person testing it said that it was still good but something was going bad inside it the way it sound it sound like metal grinding so I replace the alternator, since ... Recently had a mechanic replace the starter on my 1995 Buick Century (6-cyl). As I drove the car back home, I noticed the ABS light was on. Further investigation revealed that -- although I had turn-signals, the radio worked, and fuses I could examine in the glove box fuse panel were good -- I had no headlights, no brake lights, no interior lights, no courtesy lights, the power locks didn't work, ... can anyone help me programming my remote--keyless entry--on a 1995 Buick Century. Much appreciated.
HELP! Started my daughter's 95 Century last February only to discover that she had left the wipers on and that they had frozen to the windshield. There was a tiny puff of smoke that came from the turn signal lever (multi-function switch). I have replaced the lever and everything works except the wipers. Checked the fuse in the fuse box and it is good. Then I removed the wiper motor to ... Read More
Hi, I have the same problem...the vibration..please,,,if you have a solution...please send me an e-mail with your opinion...thank you sir...
I just got a pristine 1995 Buick Century with a 3.1, V6 engine. I had recently purchased an Interstate MT 34 (Megatron II) for another car, but I'm now getting rid of the former car and wonder if this battery is good for the Century. I looked up the recommended battery list for the Buick Century on the Interstate Battery site and it did not mention this battery. It's a shame ... Read More
i searched buick centruy solutions and problems and didn't find any related answers to my problem.
You might want to search thru Buick Century: Problems & Solutions for transmission issues.
the transmission wont go into 1st gear or over-drive. other than that i can still drive it. can anyone tell me if this is a switch problem or need new trans?
Thanks for the ideas. I've done both of those things. The Transmission fluid is good and I've checked the fuel injectors (as well as running two bottles of fuel injector cleaner.) Any other ideas?
have you checked your transmission fluid level ? make sure that the engine is hot and your parked on a level piece of ground. If the fluid is brown/black color you got some issues. for the second problem, you could have a clogged or weak fuel injector (which could be related to the 1st problem) try adding a couple of bottle/cans of fuel injector cleaner on the next couple of tankfulls ... The car accelerates well until approx 55-70 mph without vibration. Once the car levels off speed and drops into overdrive, the car begins to vibrate. If I let off the accelerator, the vibrations stop. I can accelerate again without vibration, but once it drops into overdrive, the vibrations begin again. Does anyone have solutions? Also, the car has a miss that can only be felt if the car is idling and ... Read More
Just recently my dash board and park lights have stopped working brake lights and turn signals work just fine. Does anyone have an idea of whats wrong?
I have a 1995 Buick Century (3.1L) and it turns out that one of the 3 ignition coil packs is on it's way out. I can pull the plug wire off one of the terminals while it's running and there's no spark - the other terminal sparks intermittently. The other 2 coil packs will give me a nice steady ZAP, as expected. The local mechanic is willing to do the work, ... Read More
I recently had a similar problem. Turned out to be a bad alternator. I am guessing that the electrical problems were due to the low battery.
I have a 98 Buick Century. This year the air conditioning compressor konk'd out. It will cost at least $800 to replace. I figured not now, maybe later or maybe not at all as long as the windows work. Then, almost on cue my drivers door window goes on the fritz. Everytime I turn the car on it rolls all the way down. Then after a few seconds the up button ... Read More
Reference message #42. My 1995 Buick Century Electrical Problem is identical to your car problem. First it was the inoperative door locks and anti lock warning light. Two days later I lost the leadlights, brake lights and clock setting. All other systems appear to be operating efficiently. I bought the car new, now has 123,000 miles. No traumatic accidents, no flood damage, no lightning stikes, the vehicle has been reasonably maintained. ... Read More
I am having a problem that it seems no one knows the answer to. Last week while driving my anti lock warning light came on and stayed on. When this happened, I lost the function of my power door locks, my headlights, brake lights and each time the car is started the clock reverts back to 12:00. I have checked all fuses and they are good. Has anyone else had a ... Read More
Ok, First of all, YES I am a woman with limited knowledge on car maintenance and repair. I bought a 1995 Buick Century in March of this year. I love the car and it has plenty of space for my 3 year old son. Two weeks ago while i checked my oil and found it to be at the correct level, I noticed my coolant reservoir was a little dark. When ... Read More
Hello, I was wanting to know if the buick century for a 1994 would work in a 1995 buick century. Same eng size V6. Thanks for your help...
We had a 1995 Lumina LS with the 3.1 and no leak. Also 1999 Venture with 3.4 engine which had the leak at 12k but never put a drop on the floor. They caught it when changing the oil etc. Fixed under factory warranty. Just had the intake manifold gasket start leaking on my 1997 Silverado with 5.7 liter engine at 55k. It would leak 3 drops overnight when it was ... Read More
Where did you hear that the 3.1 liter engine is so bad? I have heard the opposite. I have a 96 Chevy Lumina with the 3.1 and 111k miles and it is still tight and does not use any oil. If you are worried about the car, have a mechanic check it out.
We plan to purchase a Buick Century, 1995, with 47K miles. It is offered by a dealer in central Ohio. The original owner bought it from the dealer and traded in at same dealer for a new Buick. We have a copy of the maintenance records for the car. The car looks immaculate and runs well. Is $8500 a fair price, with 30 day warranty and no other maintenance agreement? I ... Read More
my mother's 1995 Century 2.2 liter finally developed a head gasket leak at 142,000 miles. Those 2.2 engines leak externally so her car doesn't get hot but it does leak coolant down the side of the block. If the car was under 100K the repair would be free but Bob Daniels Buick of Columbus Ohio was kind enough to not charge for the parts. Of course the labor was almost $400 ... Read More
The red strip on the door is merely a reflector. It does not light up on Centurys, some other Buicks have the door courtesy lamps but not the Century. The battery thing, well, regardless of the performance of the battery, the car should continue to run on the alternator. I have driven GM products off a jumpstart without any battery hooked up at all let alone a dead one or one ... Read More
The Buick Century is still one of the worst cars GM produces. GM has made great strides in recent years, but the Buick Century seems to have been left behind. I will admit that my opinion is biased, because I think all GM cars except the Corvette, Seville, Intrigue, and the new pick-ups are all JUNK. GM cars are so cheap and they rattle and squeak from day one. I was ... Read More
