Used 2001 Volvo V70 2.4T Fwd 4dr Wagon (2.4L 5cyl Turbo 5A) Consumer Reviews
I love this car!
Presently at 93,000 miles. Yes I have had the odd quirky issue, but the only major item was a radiator replacement. Transmission has been fine and 'baby' runs quite well. I use my wagon to transport mulch, stone, plants in the summer and she's always been a jewel. I love this wagon and plan on keeping for a very very long time.
Buy extended warantee
This car has been a severe dissapointment. I know most people write bad reviews so take this for what it is worth. We have had numerous problems with this car. Gremlin electrical problems, electrical motors in windows, trunk and door locks, I have replace at least 6 signal lights and head lamps twice. Sway bar bushing replaced, $275. Emission system is showing error codes and is soon to need work. Replaced temp stat and temp control. Engine is looking like it may need some major work.

Great car with some problems
Love my car. It has had a good number of repairs over its lifetime. some attributed to high mileage and a lot of driving time. Some to what I believe to be poor design. The transmission has been our biggest issue. It has had issues with slipping in and out of gear. Overall I would buy another
Volvo dropped the ball on the V70 series
My family and I have driven Volvos for most of our lives, from the old 240's up to today's V70's. I have to say that (arguably) though looks have improved, quality control has not. Sure my V70 looks top notch, but I've had multiple issues with the car from the brakes to the ETM to the suspension. All of these problems are not cheap to fix, ranging from $700-1200 a visit. It seems that Volvo dropped the ball on their 2001 line of V70's, and they're not considering any recalls. You'll find many owners having the same problems: ETM gives out while driving at highway speeds, the clunk felt when starting up from a stopped position, the brake rotors needing replacement every 20K miles, etc.
A good solid, and yes, fun ride.
I have a "downstream" O2 sensor issue. Other than that, the car is solid. It handles as responsively and crisply as the day it came off the assembly line, and with the Turbo, the performance is quite good. This is an interesting mashup of vehicle types. It's a wagon for utility, has a lot of luxury features, and is fun to drive. A sport luxury wagon?
