Terrible rental car
I have one a S90 T8 for a week from hertz.. I should have taken it back while I was still in the garage at the air port. It has 12,700 miles and already has a new set of tires on the front. The seats are showing a lot of wear, with the perforated part looking thin. Several of the plastic buttons feel thin and cheap. I was shocked to read the wood trim is actually wood. Feels like plastic. I dont know what this is, maybe the electric part charging itself, but this car has a constant drone sound that is really annoying. Even when the engine is on, you can hear it. We just came back from dinner and I am ready to take it to the local Hertz agency in the morning. Way to expensive of a car to be annoyed with. I have a BMW at home and there is no comparison.

I NO LONGER HAVE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO MY UNHAPPINES
Make sure that the selling representative covers all technology with you; make sure you understand the difference between a Japanese auto maker vs a European automaker. The differences are very evident.
Classy S90
I have had an 2009 S80 since 2010 and when I saw the new S90 it immediately jumped on my radar. I was forced to purchase a new care last year and I am telling you, this care is great. The look is amazing. I get complimented every other day. The ride is a bit heavy but I am not trying to race anyone. The Bluetooth/Apple Car play sometimes act up when I plug my phone up. There are small things that have happened but nothing worth noting. It is great on gas IF prices were not so high it would be amazing. Navigation is quirky. I am really happy with this car.

Living up to the Volvo rep! Still impressed!
Likes- i leased and then bought. now at 60,000 miles. It is a shame they discontinued this model. Well engineered! [i have driven updated models as loaners]. I do the Volvo maintenance, but changed dealership because orginal dealers were crooks and know-nothings about their cars. Be warned! (I did complaint directly to Volvo USA, but they didn’t give a $h#!). It is expensive, but Volvo parts are very reliable. -More getup and go than the gas/hybid Volvos models. Better power!. -about the car 60,000+ miles and still no major repairs- original brakes, shocks, exhaust, even though I use mostly regular gas.but still getting 27 miles/gallon (combined). Incredible for its size! I changed wipers 2x. - Just changed ‘starter battery” [$600 ouch!], but all orginal batteries have lasted 7 years. That’s why I bought Volvo replacement. -still a luxury ride! -LOVE THE AUTOPILOT! It is the next best thing to driving a Tesla. [which will be my next car when this Volvo wears out, but I’ll miss the lux interior]. Dislikes- Nav system stinks! Setting it is a pain. Voice commands are always 100% wrong! Needs serious update (newer Google system is better). Now I mostly relay on Waze via Apple Car Play. PS Seris Radio -Hate that Volvo charges an arm & leg for app connectivity! ($200 a year). -this model’s tires always are sidewall bulging and need to be replaced, bought over 5-6 tires over life of car. However, when they don’t bubble, they do last a at least 45,000+ miles until replacement is needed.

Unforced errors
I have a top of the line 2020 S90 T8 Inscription Recharge. The car is beautiful, inside and out. Looms great on the road and feels nice inside. In the down side, things that surprised me include: - no electric steering wheel adjustment, so the seat and steering wheel do not reposition during ingress and egress. This is a strange miss for this class of car. - steering wheel and rear seat do not come heated as standard; another strange miss for this class. - interior ambient lighting around the cabin perimeter has no color selection. It is just white light. This is strange for the class. - ride quality is not supple. I had a li column that had three electronic ride selections using electro controlled shocks the stiffened or softened from sport to luxury. It was great. Why can Volvo use such selectsble setting shock absorbers.

Surprisingly great
Leased a new 2021 S90 Momentum T6 and i cant be more happy. I have driven various German cars before, much more expensive, but the space, quality, reliability, and overall costs are surprisingly good for a car in this competitive segment. Yes, it is a 2.0 ltr for cyl, but pretty quick and quiet. Service from Guenther is great as well, i just have been unlucky with some flats, but with plugs (dealer wont do this) I have exceeded 20K with tires from new, without changing tires as yet. I may change them at 25K with next free service.
