I TEST DROVE THEM ALL, MB S500, BMW 745 AND THE AUDI A8. THEY DON'T COMPARE. THIS IS THE BEST OVERALL CONCEPT SINCE LEXUS FIRST CAME OUT WITH THE LS400. IT IS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE EVERYTHING IN ITS CLASS.

I have owned Mercedes, Jaguar and most recently the Audi A8. The lease opportunity on the Phaeton was to good too pass up. After driving this car for the past three months I can honestly say it is the finest car I have ever owned. Quiet and comfortable! I have had client's six and a half feet tall ride in the back seat and say it is the most comfortable rear seat they have ever been in. I am extremely pleased.

I tried all the competition, the Phaeton flat out offers more value for the money than anything else out there.Try it and compare to S500,A8L,745IL and you will be a believer like me.

15 yrs. ago Mercedes had the best built cars. Now VW creates "build quality" equal to Lexus, better than BMW, and way ahead of Mercedes. The ride, handling, fit and finish are phenomenal. Gas mileage is an acceptable 16 MPG in mixed driving. The W12 engine is smooth/responsive and the car so well insulated that it glides super quietly along the highway at 70 MPH with engine RPM @2200. I wanted understated elegance and excellent fit/finish and got what I paid for. I strongly recommend this car if you don't worry about "hood emblems" and just want fine quality, design, and function.

Great Car, all 10's except fuel economy, but the MPG is comparable for this class of car. What a comfortable and luxurious car all in an understated package. Amazing power and capability. Outrageous fit and finish. I saved so much money-I was about to get an S500 4matic.
Move over BMW, Mercedes and Lexus

I have owned Audi's for 15 years, including the A8. Naturally, when I had a chance to test drive the Phaeton, it was love at first sight. The vehicle was an Audi A8 with more extras and wow, what a great lease deal. I have test driven Mercedes 500 series, BMW 745i, and Lexus 430. Sorry, but the competition will have to come back with VW designs to beat this gem. It truly is a hand-crafted vehicle, with room in the back seat for a King.

My new Phaeton is a dream come true. The fit and finish exceeds all new car standards here or abroad. VW has thought of everything, and I mean everything. The car has a real solid feel. Everything is computer controlled and at your finger tips. It is extremely quiet and the rear compartment is like a limo. I have owned several Mercedes and Q45s and they dont even compare. The 4WD is awesome. The brakes are the best I've ever experence. The VW staff provided a two hour tour of the car before I could take it home. I dont think this will be my last Phaeton. I believe this car is making history.

I just ordered one about 6 weeks ago and it should be here in Florida in another 6 weeks. I did have one for a full day to drive and it was WONDERFUL. I've owned most of the other German, English, and Japanese luxury cars and I can tell you that for the money, NONE of them can touch this car. The hardest part is getting past the VW logo. Once that's done (after driving the car for about 10 minutes) then the decision is an easy one. I can't wait to get mine, David Duty Gulf Breeze, FL USA

This car is the best vehicle we have ever had. The interior is functional and beautiful. the sound systen is concert-like. I dont know what else to say except sorry Lexus,watch out for this company.

Great riding car with excellent styling. Has class and elegance. Our vehicle has all the bells and whistles. Tremendous sound system, flawless navigation. Lumbar massager is fabulous on long trips. Really fast in sport drive. Rides better than BMW 745il.

after 20 years of declining Benz quality and unable to stomach the cosmetics counter styling of thier interiors it is a godsend that VW has rescued car buyers from having to drive the class favorite of orthodontists and garmentos. After 8 months and 25000 miles I'm ready to order the wagon and coupe, if VW will just build them.
Phaeton tops all other luxury cars!

I looked at Mercedes (S-Class), BMW (7 Series), Audi (A8), Range Rover and Lexus (LS400 series). As a fluke I was asked to look at the VW Phaeton. I thought, VW-no thanks. (Nothing wrong with VWs but not what I thought I wanted). Sat in it and was amazed at the incredible technology and comforts built in. Better intuitive Info Center (Navigation, Climate, Systems, Stereo, etc.) than any other lux car model. The seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in-better than Volvo. The room is incredible. The car is handbuilt in Germany. The fit and finish blow away everything else. The ride is outstanding. Quiet? Dual paned glass through out. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CAR!!!

I've had my Phaeton 10 days, and I love it! I was shopping for a 530i or an E320, but when I found I could get a Phaeton for the same money (with incentives) I jumped on it. I got a base model, but it still had all the features I wanted, and is the most comfortable car I've ever owned. It's no sports car, but it drives very well, and rides like a dream.

I recently leased a 2004 Phaeton, having previously leased Passat's. The Pheaton is far superior to any Volkswagon product I have ever had. The attention to detail is obvious from the seats to the dash including the a/c vents in wood trim which fold back when the a/c is turned on - Wow, what a cool feature. It is a pleasure to drive (power and quietness of cabin)with a mountain of room in the back. Based upon the price as compared to others whom I know who have leased the BMW 745i and what they have paid - It is a supremely better deal.

The Phaeton is a comfortable technologically advanced car, which drives similar to a Cadillac but has more technology and and all wheel drive. It is an extremely comfortable car.

I have owned many new cars since 16. I am now 35. Mercedes C, E, and S Class, BMW 7 and 3 series, Audi's, Lexus, Jag, and Acura. I also have a 04' CLK 320 in the garage. This VW is the best car I've ever been in. One month ago I bought a 05' VW Passat 4 motion to use as a winter car. In about 8 hours I will trade the Passat for my new Silver VW "PHAETON". I have never been as excited about any other car I've ever bought. This is truly the best car ever built. Go drive every other car then drive this, you will be impressed!!!!

My 2004 Phaeton W12 is my 8th Volkswagen. I am very happy with this car, it is quiet, powerful and very well designed. Elegant, but understated - 'stealth wealth'.

i have driven my Phaeton over 4500 miles and am convinced it is one of the finest cars made. I have taken it to 128mph and it is composed and quiet. My wife, who is always asking me to slow down, said to keep at 100mph. The suspension and brakes are just wonderful. I have owned 500s and 7501l and this is my favorite. It is the best road car I have ever owned. Gas mileage is great at 80 to 100 mph- but city mpg is poor. They should have their own badge - it would sell better if it had it's own division.

Finest car I have ever driven (LS400,Beemers, A8, Jags better look out). Certainly, no american and very few foreign cars come close to the personality, presence, drive and feel of a Pheaton. Very luxurious but also very rewarding to drive. Wants for nothing! World class confort. Pay the extra $1000 for premium radio system...WOW! All-wheel drive great for Massachusetts winters. A true highway crusier, very mellow at 95mph, very stable, no wind noise. Beautifully performing engine and ultra smooth shifting. This Volkswagen is the real deal. VW really needs to do a better job of promoting a true world class automobile. Drive it and you'll want to buy it!

I was driving an Audi A8 (a 2000) and was looking to get into a 2005 model. One of our board memebers owns a car dealership (not a VW dealership) and suggested that I take one for a test drive. All I can tell you that this is the best car I've ever driven including the 2005 Audi. It gives you a much needed back massage whenever you want one. I have the upgraded sound system and it is heavenly as is the information system. The only drawback is the seats don't fully recline (so I cannot sleep in the car)!!!

I have now had this car for one year, and it is going back to the dealer for the first time, with nothing to do other than usual 10,000 mile service. I get good mileage 18mpg around town and 22 on the highway. If you want a sporty set up, you can adjust the suspension setting. If you want faster response slip it into sport setting. Nary a problem, you and your family will feel safe and secure at all times. Best car I've ever had, and there have been many from all the top brands. Just wish VW would do a better job of promoting this great car, but then again maybe its better this way because you can have a truly exclusive ride for a reasonable price.

I have 5000 miles on the car and it is still a good feeling to get in and drive. The fuel economy is 15 to 16 in short trip city driving. Highway speeds 70 and higher where allowed 22 to 23 mpg. The car is solid and quiet at speed. The fit and finish on this car is perfect. I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a good luxury car for a price way less than some other brands.

My Volkswagen Phaeton V8 is by far the best car I've ever owned or ridden in. This is not a car for status seekers. It's a car for people who want to drive the best large luxury car but don't want anyone else to know. The only down side to owning it is when you have to take it in for normal maintenance you don't get the same level of service you get from the other luxury dealerships. They try but truely don't understand their Phaeton clients.

I love my Phaeton! It is a pleasure to drive and elicits very positive comments from other drivers. My passengers love the cavernous back seat leg room and comfort features. The upgraded stereo is awesome, as is the cooling/heating system. Considering the great deal I made ($54,300), this car is a great value.

Thank goodness the Phaeton bombed in the market, because it allowed me to get a low-mileage W12 for barely more than $50,000. I've been in almost every hoo-hah car on the planet and this one's the best. It's outlandishly fast, solid, beautiful and incredibly comfortable. The stereo is awesome, and they could fight a nuclear war outside and you'd never hear it. By the way, I will never understand why luxury car buyers complain about fuel economy! If you're too cheap to buy a lot of gas, then for goodness sake don't get a 12-cylinder car.

Best car I have ever owned - and that includes 3 Mercedes-Benz S500s, a BMW M5, etc. My Porsche 911 cabriolet was perhaps the most fun (in Miami), but cannot imagine a better sedan. I test drove an Audi A8L and a BMW 7-Series, but this is the car. Its navigation system could be better, but everything else is great.

I got behind the wheel I fell in love. The feel the appointments, ie: the massage, air conditioned, heated seats.. the way the dash is put together.. the indirect airflow on the AC/Heating system and the sound of the telematics, and the all wheel drive, enticed me to buy this car. the superior customer service I have recieved.they pick up the car for service and for any problems,I called them they came with a loaner car and delivered my car back the next day washed and in perfect condition.. I love the idea of not waiting or going for sevice. LOVE the car and was very surprised that VW could do such a great job,
