Used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Consumer Reviews
Fantastic Auto
In May 2006 I bought a new '06 TDI Jetta with Pkg 1. We wanted Pkg 2, but it was not avaliable. We drove to Maine from Florida with just one fill up. I average 47 mpg. Our last two autos were a Cadillac DHS and a Toyota Avalon XLS. My wife and I enjoy this TDI better than the last two autos. We also own a 2002 Jetta GLS TDI. It is slightly smaller than the 2006 model. I love them both. I am looking forward to purchasing another TDI in 2007.
Purely Awesome
I have had this car now for about a week and already have 1,600 miles on it! I could not be happier with the car, the gas mileage could be a little better, but that might have something to do with the way I drive the car.

Forget about HYBRID, 41 miles per gallon avg.
The Jetta TDI is sooo much fun to drive. I am enjoing every minute on the road. Plus, I get 500 miles per tank, you can't beat that!
Best car I've ever had
I consider this to be the best overall car I've ever owned. In town I am getting 42 MPG and on the highway I am coaxing 55 MPG. The performance on the road is more than adequate for my driving style. The interior suits my needs very well. For the money, this is a fabulous automobile.
Worst Vehicle Owned
I drive about 40,000 miles per year, I thought I would get a lot of miles out of the TDI, I currently have 115,000 miles on it and I would never buy another VW Diesel. The maintenance costs are outrageous; timing belt, filters and special oil. I had to replace a head at 103,000 miles, cost $7,000, why, VW could not answer that. I suspect that they used the wrong oil on one of the changes. Make sure you read the maintenance manual about the oil, VW was the only one who serviced my engine, but who is to say they used the correct oil. I'm sure the 2009's are similar. Replaced Belt and routine filters and maintenance @ 80,000 and that cost around $1500.
