Not value for the money

I have driven 10000 miles in my ID4 Pro s. The software which control travel assist is worst. For every 100 mile drive atleast once trying to make accident by suddenly moving away from lane. Car paint quality doesnt seems as good as tesla. This car does not feel like 50K USD car. Cheap plastics outside and inside. Range is pathetic when drive above 60 mph speed. I get less than 200 mile when driving above 60 mile speed. And their charging infrastructure is worst. Most of the time the electrify america charging stations doesnt work. Always need to switch between chargers and wasting lot of time. A usual 15 hour road trip with this car will exceed 22hour because of very bad charging infrastructure. Spend few thousand extra in model y and earn back that amount when selling. Not worth for money at all.

Got this car 6 months ago and already waited 31 days for a new handle as I couldn't open the drivers door. Now had a small accident and the whole plastic front bumper, spoilers headlight got destroyed. Very unsafe car

This is a state of the art car! It will take me over a year to figure out all the technology that is included. Smooth ride and very stable and makes me feel safe. I am very happy about purchasing it but it was quite pricey.

ID.4 1st, Very nice car

I’ve done a couple of road trips so far. Very comfortable. Really like the adaptive cruise control, lumbar support, massaging seats and travel assist which make long rides more comfortable. Still educating myself on all the technology and settings/features. Wireless CarPlay works great. Range is perfect for my needs for daily driving. Once I got Electrify America app working and added to my iPhone wallet charging on road trips is very easy and fast. Haven’t used any other networks or public chargers yet (why pay more?). This is my 5th hybrid, BEV or PHEV (Prius, Volt, i3, Bolt, ID.4) and so far I’m very impressed and happy with it. I miss full one pedal driving but it has “partial” one pedal driving at least (“B/Braking” setting). The i3 and Bolt had more aggressive regenerative braking and I liked it a lot but I’m adjusting to VW’s style of regenerative braking and it’s more than made up for with all the other features. Oh, I drive exclusively in ECO mode figuring that’s the best mode for range. Maybe i don’t know what I’m missing but I’m plenty pleased with the way it operates in ECO. Maybe I’d be even more pleased with Comfort or Sport modes. :-)

My wife and I traded in our 2016 Buick Envision Premium Trim 1 for our Volkswagen ID4 Pro S All Wheel Drive. We wanted an electrical SUV to replace our gas powered SUV. We ordered it online and had it shipped to us from Germany to our dealer. I totally loved the entire experience of selecting the car this way. No hassle at the dealer, the car is exactly what and how you want it. It drives just like our gas powered SUV. Great acceleration for a suv of this size. Faster than our Buick Envision. Charges quicker than our Chevy Bolt does at the Electrify America Stations on DC fast charging. I like the quirkiness of the controls (no buttons or levers all touch screens), I love the sureness and smoothness of the ride, and I also like that the (trickle charge) portable charging level 1 cord can be plugged into a regular outlet. I plan on getting a Level Two charger at home. I would recommend this suv to anyone that is thinking of making the leap from gas to electric but wants an suv that still feels like a car and not a spaceship.

Don’t buy ID.4

We bought a ID.4 20 days ago, at Capitol VW in San Jose, CA. The ID.4 one week later the car has a light on cause for a electrical issue I turn in the car, and now the dealership found there is a problem with water pump. Now they saying they don’t have the parts I have to leave the car for a month, two month or even a year. This is BS. I’m stressed right now, and they just offer me a Jetta ( all dirty with used mask inside) this is terrible avoid buying ID.4 better buy a Tesla.

I’m buying one. All in all with the gas savings and increased trade in value the net out of pocket is zero for me. Then add one the $7500 tax credit and there is no way to turn this down. Great deal. Plus on top of that the car is amazing. I loved driving it.

this car is a joke - the mileage is about 100 miles per charge - if you drive very slowly and not push it at all you might get 150 or so. The back up camera is very distorted. not a find car to drive - after owning several luxury vehicles. you need to shop around before you buy this car

My First and Last Volkswagen!

I’ve had my 2021 PRO S for almost 2 years now. Range was so-so but with the free charging for 3 years at the electrify America charging stations I was not complaining. It started taking a dark turn towards end of 2023. After months of waiting the recall service was scheduled. it took 6 months followup and 1 instance of wrong scheduling by the recall service customer care/ mis-communication with the service center to finally schedule the software update service. A week after the recall service my car wouldn’t start (with around 60% battery juice left) from a normal stop at a rest area/ gas station in Parsippany. Awaited for the tow truck for 2 hours which wasn’t completely covered by VW. I should appreciate the person who towed the car, after 1 hour of work he was finally able to get the car on the truck( please note that if you think you can tow your EV easily, you are probably wrong) . Paul miller VW service like all other VW showrooms were in back order for loaners. I was 90 miles away from home without a loaner and not much help from VW. After 10 days waiting for my car service I got a loaner, they found out that the 12 V battery was gone. 2 months later one main battery cell has failed. They are not allowed to do service at every center so I need to get it 30 miles from home at a service station that can only repair 1 car at a time??! Please keep away from this Car and if possible VW.

ID4 is NOT SAFE FOR WINTER DRIVING!!!

Den, 03/15/2024
2021 Volkswagen ID.4 1st Edition 4dr SUV (electric DD)

1) Don't buy a EV without a heatpump 2) Don't buy ID4 rear wheel driving for Northern states - it is not safe! (read below) 3) Don't buy ID4. Go buy a Tesla. Hello a prospect buyer. I purchased a used car a year ago. It is a 2021 rear wheel drive ID4 1st series. Immediately after purchasing I faced the problem with the cracking sound from the roof. The roof was replaced after multiple scandals with the dealership. Then I realized the lack of a Heat Pump for winter season is a real problem - not sure why Germans decided to get rid of it for cold Northern states and Canada - the most stupid decision. DONT BUY THIS CAR unless VW decides to put the heat pump back. THE MOST IMPORTANT: after installing the winter tires at a dealership, an Anti slip system started to engage hindering acceleration. A couple of times I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A TRUCK when merging to the highway. VW representative was trying to fix this issue - without any luck. For now I swapped the tires back to all seasons and it drives normally - but on the snow this is not an option. VW is now figuring out what to do as I ordered the tires from an official dealership, and it was Michelin that had been approved by VW to use on ID4. After I swapped back the summer tires, the battery shows 210 miles of range instead of the 260 miles... again, to make it clear: DONT BUY THIS JUNK!!! I REGRET THIS PURCHASE AS I NEVER HAD!!!!

I own a 2022 pro S and I really love this car. The exterior design is really classy and few SUV look that good to me. Its size is perfect for a family of 4 without being bulky or too small. My car is a single motor and is more than adequate in power due to the instant torque availability. It is not a hotrod but it’s perfectly powered for what I use it for (commute and haul the kids around). The interior design is fresh and joyful with some innovations that I find useful like the strip of light at the bottom of the windshield that flashes in case of imminent danger. Some misses on this car to me are the ride quality that is not sophisticated enough to my taste but not un comfortable. The lack of ventilated seats, the useless GPS and overall cumbersome onboard computer and the brake pedal feel. Outside these details it’s a perfectly well rounded design and car I really enjoy owning.

We purchase the car on lease trade. It in a honda insight. We always wanted to try full electric vehicle. We previously also owned several VW vehicles in which we had no problems with. We also owned a few Audi vehicles. We really liked the I d four performance and ride and not having to buy gas. This vehicle was our only vehicle for the household And in a year and a half, we had two major issues. The last one left us stranded forty five minutes from home. Vehicle would not accelerate over 25 miles an hour, dealership was no help. So two days later, we traded the vehicle in and bought a VW Tiguan. We're back to ICE but glad we don't have to be concerned about breaking down and not knowing if we're going to make it home when we go out. Maybe in another ten years, we'll try electric again.

Time for VW to wake up and smell the competition

Loved this car initially. It was an awesome electric vehicle to complete with the ugly Tesla. VW came at EV's strong but none of the promises (charger recognition, over-the-air updates) materialized. Further more it seems that VW abandoned the US market. None of the promised models are here: ID.7, ID.Buzz etc, while the chinese market ggets 10 different models. Now that three years are up on my lease I found that all incentives that were offered initially are gone. Free charging at Electrify America, reasonable leases. Essentially VW said to a repeat VW client: GO AWAY. And I did. I am returning the ID.4 and for just a few more dollars I got a GV70 Electrified. I refuse to give in to the ugliness of Tesla that now has the cyber-dumpster as the top model. VW should look at the Electrified GV70 and see the list of features that it has in comparison to ID.4. One of the is free charging.
