good car
an excellent car, especially for the money. Solid, fun, etc
Cabrio
Overall, the car is great, however, I've only had it for about a year and a half and have already had to put it in the shop a few times for minor problems (the radio volume did not go to soft.) If you're looking for a cute convertible that's good in the winter as well as the summer, the cabrio's a good choice

great little car!
I have been very happy with my Cabrio GLX. It has been very reliable and is lots of fun to drive. I would happily buy the car again.
great little car
this is my second convertible i love this car !!!!! it drives great
Love My Cabrio
I love driving my Cabrio. I have only had a few issues with its brakes and a few parts that have broken. VW's are expensive to repair, but it is a fun car and I wouldn't trade it.
Too expensive to keep it looking cute
The VW Cabrio is cute but frequently needs high cost bits and pieces replaced. The latest is over $260 for a plastic front grill which took several weeks to arrive at the dealership. The grill ws broken by the dealership because that was the only way for them to get to the broken hood latch. It is also very expensive to insure, even if it's just state minimum requirements. This high maintenance for its appearance and high insurance costs eat up any savings from the good fuel economy.
Lemon
Have had numerous problems for one year - delivered without enough transmission fluid - not alligned - resulted in requireing new tires - cruise control worked intermittantly - ABS light on - Engine Check Light on - cannot trust safety driving - stopped when engine check light on
It's the Little Things
I started having problems right off the bat. The check engine light came on about two months into my ownership. They had to replace the entire O2 sensor. Next the door locks broke. They've been replaced twice, and are currently broken again. The interior dome light broke in year three. I never touched the thing. The muffler started vibrating in year five. I've had it "fixed" but it's still vibrating when I accelerate. My car has been strictly dealership maintained. They are a pain to deal with. You have to pester and pester to get them to do anything. I figure if a part breaks and keeps breaking VW should change and make better more reliable parts.
Fun, Practical, Unique
Have had this Cabrio since new and only had problems with window regulators - fixed under warranty. Really enjoy the solid top in all kinds of weather. Have had two of these and both have been great.
cute and fun
This car is a great! It is the only sporty convertible I could find that handles well in the snow. The electric top is convenient in that I do not worry about what is inside that someone might take. Another feature I looked for was enough space to pick someone up at the airport and have their luggage and my dog fit at the same time. The trunk is much bigger than the Miata or the BMW which were my other choices. The Cabrio is also much quieter than the others due to the multi-layered top. It is a lot of fun at a fair price
Open air tourning with practicality
The Cabrio combines everday practicality with open air motoring pleasure. Sufficiently powerful to keep up with traffic and entertain on two-lane roads, it shines when driven on the less traveled roads. Weather-tight and well mannered on the freeway, it is the best of all motoring worlds, especially with the 5-speed transmission. If you can have only one car, this should be it. Dealer service and post-sale attention were first-rate.
One of the last ones
I have had very few problems since the initial 6 months when I had a problem with wheel sensors. It has run so well my wife wanted it. It is a real fun car. It will be hard to replace.
mistake
My mistake. There are better cars for less $.
2002 GLX Cabrio
I have wanted one of these since the cabriolet (when I was in college)came out in the 80's. This is a "play car" (3rd vehicle)for our family. After lugging around in a Yukon XL all day with kids this car is treat to drive.
NEVER BUY A VW!
I've had such a bad experience with VW. I went to all the VWs in my area and can't believe the poor service that I have been getting. I LOVE my car, however it is not worth the price of dealing with their service department (s). Even after speaking to the manager I haven't been helped. If you would like more detail, just email me.
I love it
it is awesome
