I bought my M5 with only 30k, triple black with all bells and whistles, single owner - it appears to have been lived in a garage all of its life.
I traded in a 2012 BMX X6M so I was used to the power of the engine but where I find the M5 topping the X6M is in the tranny - the 7 speed dual clutch shifts much faster than the 6 speed automatic. The car would spin wheels all the way until … you hit 30-40 MPH if you floor it outright, so it is most impressive from 30 to 70 MPH - the acceleration is out of this world and no spinning tires...
The cabin is well appointed, not too frivolous and finished with very high end materials - I find the seat comfortable but not as comfortable as the same generation X5/X6 multi contour seats - the M5 somehow has slightly wider seats so they do bot wrap my back as a jacket the way the X6/X5 do. The backrest width adjustment controls do not seem to be part of the seat packages for the 2013 model, I see them on the 2014-2016.
All in all, the F10 M5 feels like a true luxury sedan that, when asked, can deliver a super car performance. I also find this M5 to resemble the most the legendary E39 M5 - has similar lines and the classic BMW front.
If you are on the edge, just buy one and you will enjoy it fully. I haul three kids and a wife in mine while enjoying a true performance - very few cars can do that. In my view the M5 is the king of kings among the top sport sedans…
