2025 Toyota Tacoma Consumer Reviews

*** buyer beware ***
I purchased a new 2024 Toyota Tacoma SR5 double cab 4x4 long bed Jan 2nd 2025. My first trip was 85 miles to Winston-Salem, NC that weekend and I was using my GPS. I had my cruise set to 70 mph and noticed the GPS speed was 66 mph - 4 mph difference. I also noticed the slower I drove, the more my GPS and speedometer were matching up. Looking at the different Tacoma trim levels, the higher trims come with 265/70r 18" tires - my SR5 came with 245/70r 17" tires. I called the dealership to have my speedometer calibrated but they can no longer do this. The speedo has to be sent to California and this is costly to the dealership. I asked for larger tires (not a larger wheel size, just tires) and my new tires could be used on a trade that needed this sized tires, they refused. I got with Toyota who directed me back to this dealership and to the CRM (customer relations manager). She is very nice but not very helpful. I think in order to streamline production Toyota calibrated all Tacoma's to the larger tire size and didn't care how this impacts buyers of lower trim levels. Along with the speedometer being incrementally off, this is adding miles (that I didn't drive) to my odometer. I opened a case with the BBB for this county, this dealership still refuses to make right. I think when you pay this much for a new vehicle, it should be in perfect working order and this includes the speedometer calibrated to the vehicles actual tire size.
Perfect truck
This is a perfect size truck for my needs. I can tow something small if I need to, but also small enough to get into just about any parking spot. I don't need anything fancy, but still need a truck from time to time and it fits into my life style.

The Taco we deserved
I had a Gen 3 Tacoma and quickly became fed up w/ the transmission (tuning) during highway and mountain driving. The Gen 4 has solved every problem the previous truck had. Would have gave 5 stars but for some dumb reason the tail pipe has been placed far behind the rear wheel where im sure it will become damaged during off road driving. Time will tell
