Typical Toyota Reliability
Fit and finish is typical Toyota, excellent. Everything you read about the V6 and matching transmission is accurate, i.e., it is amazingly noisy and the transmission is constantly shifting, especially in the mountains of NC where I live. It is so bad that I put it in manual mode and attempt to "beat it" by shifting manually. I downsized from a 2013 Ford F150, and the Ford, with an ecoboost six and six speed was so much more superior, getting about the same gas mileage in a much larger, comfortable vehicle without the crazy engine/transmission noises...disappointing to say the least.

Annoying Driver Door Noise / Unresolved
Wind noise 9" from driver's left ear. I dumped the vehicle after 9 months / 7,700 miles. Excessive wind noise in line with driver's ear developed within a month of ownership. My dealer confirmed and replaced window track and on a subequent visit the door weather-stripping. The noise was worse at highway speeds and in cross winds. Gasket replacement with a "newly designed" door gasket resolved the issue for a couple of weeks then redeveloped as before. A Toyota "Customer Experience" warranty case was filed and immediately was denied and action delayed. Upon driving 1200 miles one way on a calm day, I experience little or no wind noise. The return a week later with cross winds required my use of an ear plug in my left ear. An out of town factory rep ultimately reviewed the vehicle on a calm day and defined the issue as "normal road noise" thereby stopping all effort to 'satisfy the customer'. The dealer supported my claim and disclosed they had numerous unresolved complaints for this on similar Tacoma's. The dealer was unaware of a solution and expressed frustration in Toyota's failure to provide guidance. During a follow up with my Toyota case manager she refused to accept my complaint or the dealer's confirmation as valid. Furthermore she would not allow me to submit dealer or recorded data. She steadfastly stated my a complaint was not a justified unless a "Toyota of America Representative" replicated and validated it. My request for a different case manager was also denied. I should have kept my trouble free 2000 Tundra. Having lost 'that loving feeling' with the Tacoma and Toyota, I reluctantly decided to 'cut my losses' and trade the vehicle off rather than spend additional time and effort filing a Lemon Law Action. No more Toyota's are likely in my future.

Bearing Issue.
I bought this truck brand new. I noticed from day one from speeds of 20 up to 55 I can feel and hear a roaring from the front end. I was told by a Toyota Mechanic that it's a spindle bearing and Toyota is aware of the issue. If they know about it then why not fix it. The truck has 8800 miles and I'm thinking about trading for something else. I put a lift on it nice wheels and a few other thing. It stands out and I get constant compliments. It's just not the quality you would expect from a Toyota. The paint even has dirt in it from the factory. Geeezzzz. Really Toyota!!! Also same transmission problems as everybody else.
