2001 Tac does the job!

I'm the original owner of an Imperial Jade Prerunner 4 door. While the V6 gets miserable mpg, it's a tough as nails runner and hasn't given a hint of a problem in the 160k/ 20 years it's been with us. Kept my family safe through three moves and a ton of remodeling. Everything still works! The bad? Paint is a mess that's been going for 10 years. It's that old clear coat problem you see with older cars. And the rubber is pretty much gone. Not bad and it's still running great today.

I bought my 2001 SR5 4X4 from the original owner in 2007 w/ 50k miles on it, and have since tacked on another 150k miles. Along the way I added an ARB bumper, wheels/tires, OME suspension lift kit, softtopper canopy, offroad lights, and a K&N cold air intake. Although the 2.7 lacks power going over mountain passes, the manual transmission and air intake seem to help. Due to clear coat delamination I have since added custom paint to the mod list as well. It's definitely a head-turning conversation starter. I can't say enough good things about this vehicle.

THINK, ENERGIZER BUNNY!

This car was a repo that I purchased in 2004, with 50M miles. WOW! His loss ....my gain! Now, at 167K, this thing just keeps on going and going! The only major thing I've had to do was have the front shocks and struts replaced at about 120K. The ORIGINAL brakes lasted till 126K! Drive belts were changed at 131K. I live in the San Bernardino mountains, where it snows in the winter. I was thinking of getting a used 4x4 Taco, so I recently went on Craigslist but I just couldn't bring myself to part with this thing. It's just been SO good to me! If putting tire chains on for traction in the snow is the worst price I have to pay, then I consider myself lucky! I have General Grabber AT2 radial tires and they are amazing! Between these tires and the chains, the control in the snow is awesome! The display lights for the circulation and fan have recently gone out but not worth removing part of the dash for replacement. The biggest complaint I have is with the brakes. When driving down the mountain and I hit the brakes firmly, the whole truck vibrates. New brakes and having the rotors turned, made very little difference.

My 01 tacoma has 70,000 miles on it and i haven't had a single problem with it. It goes everywhere off road and rides nice on the pavement. Its a solid truck.
