No problems...
I've had this car for a little over 2 months now and am very pleased with it. It's fun to drive, handles well, and gets great gas mileage (for an SUV). Recommended!
Rock and Roll, but Rattles and Shakes
Great design in and out. Handles like a car with the advantage of sitting high. It puts a smile on my face. Great for around town and gas mileage is surprisingly good. I feel the king of the road (no more threatened by the size of monster SUVs). The inside is so roomy and practical yet so small and cute from the outside. Well this is for the Rock and Roll part lets talk about the Rattles and Shakes. Soon the rattling annoying noises crept up from somewhere in the back. The audio unit also buzz. It drives me crazy.I see that Im not the only one complaining about it, so Ill take an appointment with the dealer and raise hell if they do not fix it !

Reliability at it's BEST
Bought my 2002 Rav4 used with 160,000 km. 5 speed with on-demand AWD. First winter, every car in front of me, spinning off the start and through the intersection at a 4 way stop. My little guy, just accelerated smoothly and up the hill, with no wheel spin discernable. So far have added another 140,000 km to it, now sitting at 300,000 km. Spent a whopping $2800 in repairs over the last 9 years (new rotors and an ignition module). Driver side electric doorlock has failed.....oh well grew up with only keys to lock doors no biggies. Use it mainly on paved roads, but in summers, with my kayaks loaded on top, I hit lakes with gravel road access only. Don't need 4X4 but the roads are full of potholes and washboard. 22 years old and NOW I start using it on rough roads....my poor baby. A few rattles and clunks but that's to be expected at its age. It has never left me down, is still peppy and on the highways drives like a dream. Slight bit of oil burning, (1 L every 2000km) and a small drip at the differential (not worth taking apart to fix) Averaging 11L/100 km with mostly city driving....and 9L/100km when I do mostly highway. My Rav4 has served me faithfully on a shoestring budge, Best purchase I have ever made. Expecting to put on another 100k at least.....should make it to 400,000km, worry free.

Pretty Happy So Far
Overall, we really like our Rav4. My wife is the main driver. She wanted something smaller than a van, but still wanted to sit higher than a car. I'm still trying to get used to the arrangement of the dash. The speedometer is in a large circle to the left. ( I look for it in the middle.) The tach is smaller and in the middle. The fuel gauge and the temp gauge are in a large circle to the right. The front bumper/grill seems mostly plastic/vinyl. The rear bumper is almost nonexistant. There are two narrow "bumps" - one on each side. Nothing in the middle because of the spare tire. So far, the rattles have not been bad.
My First Toyota (always had Honda Accord
I love the new body style... for the money it the best thing on the road. It has more room inside than you would think. The gas mileage is Great! Perhaps a V-6 is in order. New wider tires, make the ride even better.
My 1st Toyota
Typical Toyota quality. Great engine, looks, handling. The mechanical AWD system is amazing for Canadian winters (esp. with M/S tires). Had it for 5 years & expect to keep it for another 10 or more.
I own one
My Rav4 is the loaded one that everone loved but didnt want to pay the price well i did and i love it
As much Sport as Utility
My mom bought a 2002 Rav4 in Nov, 2001, after weeks of research. Since then, it has continued to impress us, not only in it's performace, but also in the utility and comfort. The only thing we have not been able to fit in was a 5'6" cabinet; even then, it was only 2 inches too long! The only reason (take note!) that I am not rating it as a perfect 10 is that my car is a 1982 RX- 7, which is a pure sports car. For some one who drives a minivan, it'll be a blast!
I love my Rav 4!!
I just bought this car and I love it. It is so much fun to drive. I got the all black one and it's so sleek to look at. It looks like a smaller BMW suv. I love all the options I have on mine and I love the reliability of everything.
