I was looking to replace my 94 Honda Civic after 209K miles. I liked the look of the Matrix and did a bunch of research on the net. After driving the XR model, I was happy but it wasn't until I found an XRS on the lot that I was sold!

AWD Matrix aka "Snowball"

We bought this car for my wife to use, since it was Super White, my daughter called it "Snowball". Its been fun to own and we realy like how functional it is. It parks and has the fuel economoy of a small sedan, (we get about 31 mpg on the highway a little less in the city), the capacity of a wagon and the AWD of a SUV. While the engine could use additional hp, I am willing to accept it for better fuel economy. While I wasn't too happy with the looks of the car, it does grow on you. After all, its kinda hard to go wrong with a Toyota!

2004 Toyota Matrix XR AWD

The car is very reliable and fun to drive. It took a while to get used to the seats since they sit very high. I do have 2 complaints; as trivial as they are, the latch on the compartment at the base of the gear box won't stay closed and the slightest bump in the road pops it open or it falls off completely. Second, when the windows dew up from the outside, you can generally roll your windows down and it would squeegee it off. Not with my Matrix; I have to stop the car and get out and wipe off the side windows so I can see; otherwise, I have to roll the windows down. Aside from that, I have no complaints and would recommend this car to anyone

my fathers lease on his suv was up and my parents had desided to buy a toyota rav4 and went to the dealership. when they got there they were dissapointed that the seats were uncomfterable and were about to leave when my mom saw a black xr matrix that had just been unloaded. soon they test drove it, fell in love and got it. when i saw it i freaked out! I had seen few of these on the read yet i never thought I would own one. Soon my father went over seas and the old car that I owned didnt work for me and my mother gave me the matrix as a birthday present.

I highly recommend the Toyota Matrix. I've had mine almost 18 months and have enjoyed the experience. The Matrix has typical Toyota reliability, but it's roominess and build allow you to use it for hauling many things or just taking lots of luggage on vacation.
