Used 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Consumer Reviews
I love this SUV!
This SUV has met all of my expectations. It is very comfortable, and spacious. I truly don’t miss the V-6 at all. My overall gas mileage is averaging 33.5 mpg, not quite the 35, but, I do live in a hilly area and this will effect the overall mpg if you don’t do a lot of highway driving. I highly recommend that buyers utilize the adaptive cruise control whenever possible, even for short trips. This helps maximize fuel efficiency. The interior is very comfortable. And, for those who think “a powerful 4 cylinder can’t possibly be enough power”, well, I am pleased to tell you that it is and that except for a little noise going up a hill, you will never miss the 6 cylinder engine. I highly, highly recommend this SU for all. Happy travels!!

2021 Highlander Hybrid surprises in good ways!
First, all the people complaining about gas mileage, cars get worst gas mileage in the winter. Also, your terrain make a huge difference in avg gas mileage with a hybrid. I live in AL and have been averaging 33+ mpg across the board. Second, it’s a hybrid…it’s going to act different from a normal ICE vehicle. Finally, yes there are some minor flaws. But I’ll take them with the Toyota reliability and retention of value. For the money, you aren’t going to find a better combination for comfort, drivability, value, and style. I looked at every car from a Pilot to Volvo XC90. And we ended up with the highlander hybrid. Couldn’t be happier.

A great car…with just one issue.
I’ve had my Highlander Hybrid XLE for two weeks. I love the car! It has all of the features that I wanted , rides smooth and I’m getting over 40 mpg in mostly suburban driving. The first thing I noticed when I left the dealership was the car had only 6 miles on the odometer and the gas gauge was slightly over the Full mark. But the dashboard read 392 miles to empty instead of the almost 600 miles per tank that the car is rated for. After driving 100 miles the distance to Empty is 342 but the gas gauge still is at the Full mark. I looked on-line and saw that many Highlander Hybrid owners are complaining that although their tanks are rated for 17.1 gallon capacity, they can only put about 12 gallons in their tanks which limits their driving distance….and is far less than Toyota advertises. In fact, a lawsuit has been filed in California. Apparently there was the same issue in the RAV4 Hybrid and Toyota is correcting the affected units. If there wasn’t this issue I’d give a strong 5 Star rating because it’s a outstanding vehicle.

Great AWD Hybrid Vehicle
We like this vehicle. It is more solid and heavier than the Camry Hybrid we traded and has AWD. However, the wind does impact your fuel mileage more than the Camry. Our first three trips were during the winter with temps well below freezing which impacted the fuel mileage - we averaged 29 miles/gallon. Not a good number for a vehicle which advertises 35. We have not taken a trip in warm weather, but the current local mileage (city & highway mix) is 33.5. The AWD is fantastic. We monitored it while driving on our snow covered road and it worked great. In fact, better than our AWD Subaru.

2014,,,2017,,,,2021 Highlanders
I have owned 3 Highlanders. The 2014 and 2017 got about 20 mpg. The 2021 is a hybrid and gets 35 mpg. Plus, it is a much better ride than the earlier 2 vehicles. The hybrid only costs about $1,200 more than a regular highlander. It should pay for itself in about 3 years.
