Used 2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Consumer Reviews
Love this Hybrid!
I have two active children and we are all tall - this suv fits us all and a bunch of friends, too! The back row seating is full seating, not knees-in-your-chest flooring...they are comfy. Getting in and out of the back row seats is a bit of a struggle, but with spry kids it's nothing to worry about. Love that I get a reliable 24-25 mpg with a varying 22-27 mpg depending on conditions, freeway/street, lead foot, and number of people you are hauling. Excellent cargo hold with back row seats flipped down flat - and you still have space for three people in the back seat!

We love this hybrid SUV! Best purchase!
We needed a small SUV to haul rigid hull inflatable boats (typically less than 2000 lbs). We had the 3500 lbs tow package installed (much nicer than aftermarket). I wanted a hybrid because "peak oil" is real, I want to be able to keep driving and boating foryears to come :) This is a technology wonder. We love it. We routinely take long trips for the business and nobody complains. Everyone is surprised how fast we get there although this is the first car I have ever own that I don't feel compelled to speed in. It's trained me that I can get at destination roughly at the same time without speeding. It's also trained me that fast starts are incredibly wasteful on gas. Easy to get 30 mp

Update
We've now had our 2001 HiHy for over a month. Still averaging over 30 mpg city and 27 mpg hwy. Absolutely love the roominess, pick-up and mileage.
Better Than I Hoped For
When I bought the car over 4 1/2 years ago, I never expected to get close to the EPA ratings on the gas mileage. But I frequently get gas mileage exceeding the 28 mpg predicted. I have gotten a full tank to average over 31 mpg on a couple of occasions. A full car with 4 people and luggage driving over 70 mph will be closer to 26.5 or 27 and in a Chicago winter sometimes getting 24 mpg. Right now I have close to 108,000 miles and I have never changed the brakes and I am still on my second set of tires. I have never had a repair issue other than normal maintenance. I have only had to change one brake light and no headlights. The real surprise is that I am now in the market for another car and I cannot find another car that can give me the cargo capacity and mileage that this Highlander gives me, not even the 2016 Highlander.

Great Car, Poor Hybrid Display and Audio Manual
I have had this 2013 Highlander Limited for about 6 weeks and really enjoy it. It has been cold (25-35F) so it takes 3-5 miles of driving to get close to the 28 mpg--but this is acceptable. Handling, smoothness, all features work well together. Very comfortable with nice upright seat position. My only disappointment is that the upgraded JBL audio system does not allow display of any of the hybrid operations or MPG records on the large screen, but only a small display on a small screen. The 2013 owners manual claims to have these great displays--that include minute to minute graphs of MPG. A call to Toyota confirmed the lack of display features and the need to update the manual.
