A 2013 HH bought in 2016

With only 14,680 miles its new to me with all the bells and whistles. Didn't have to give my right arm for it... Smells new. How many hybrid SUVs that can seat 7 and get 27 miles in the city do you know of? The kids love it and super quiet. Updated 2/17/2017, a year later: Wife and kids love it (I bought it for them). super quiet, great sound system, very comfortable and great on gas. Over all averages 25 miles per gallon. Things I've notice: very poor acceleration from a stop and if you punch the gas pedal, sometimes the engines rattles (more me than my wife). Gas mileage improves greatly when coasting or driving under 20 MPH (running on battery). Diving up hills kills your gas mileage considerably (at any speed). If you haven't driven a hybrid, try it, you won't go back to gas only vehicle. Of the four vehicles in our household, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited is the choice vehicle to drive.

Highlander Hybrid Excels

Recently purchased 2011 Highlander Hybrid limited after owning 2006 same model. Hugh improvement in driving/riding experience. Also transition from gas to hybrid a lot smoother and less noticeable than previous car. Really like few changes made to car appearance although wasn't initially sure about limited grill (like it now). Hope reliability will be as great as my 2006.

Good but not like the Prius

Just bought our new HH Limited 2011 before Christmas. So about 6 weeks ago. Drives very good - 8K millage just 9L/100KM which is not what the book says but I think that will come. I am disappointed in many of the interior design. We owned 2 Prius and many of the Steering controls that are in the Prius and found in the dash - a good stretch away from the driver. I find the Smart key - proximity is not as good and often doesn't catch if I am coming from the rear side of the vehicle. I have not found a lock button on the rear liftgate so I have to use my Smart Key or go to a side door. The sound system is excellent - the cargo space is good but small features are absent

We traded in our '10 Highlander Hybrid for an '11, and despite having friends think we were crazy, we are delighted with the improvements. The mileage is truly 28 plus, and the vehicle feels easier to drive. The interior is much improved, though still some features that look cheap. The nav and back up camera are much improved, and the split row in the third seat is great for us. The sound system sounds better too! The ride is smooth and quiet, and our kids are very comfortable in the midsection. We love this vehicle, more than the first one, and find it to be great on trips, in the city, and be a great all around vehicle.

If you want all of the benefits of an SUV, comfort, styling, AND great fuel mileage, nothing compares. To tell you how well people love this vehicle, just do a search and see if you can find any used. At over 80,000 miles we've only changed shocks and tires. That's it. My wife loves this vehicle too. The newest one of this LTD version is going for over $45,000. If you can find a used, one, its going to be around $30,000. If you are lucky. The mileage of 28 mpg, means not only fuel savings but great range between fill ups, and most fill ups at these current prices, are barely over $20. Heated seats, power everything, moon roof, ability to tow up to 3500 lbs, AWD for the snow, and rain, what more can you ask for ? Also, its not bulky looking, and is very agile in city driving. Toyota built this thing bullet proof, and I'd expect easily to get 200,000 miles. Mileage will drop off in the winter a bit, but that's mostly if you are only doing short trips, and the engine has to warm up, to heat the interior. You are still getting way better fuel mileage than ANY SUV or VAN out there in the market place, bar none. And its just a comfortable comfortable ride. The vehicle still looks sharp, and not dated in styling at all, and in fact looks better than the new Highlanders coming out, that are bloated, and now bulky. This vehicle is a GEM, if you can find one.
