Poor gas mileage

2022 Toyota Corolla Cross LE 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

I bought this car because of the better gas mileage than my Rav4. BIG MISTAKE. The Cross is averaging only 22.4 mpg in the city, and am always conscious of using good driving habits. Toyota dealer says there is nothing wrong mechanically, and this is normal.

To the frustrated owner that said their cross stalled the first day. I bought a Toyota 2023 Cross 4 weeks ago. It also stalled the first day and once since that. The dealership told me it is in the button in front of the shifter, the circle with an A on it. Toyota is aware of it. I keep the button off now. It is very frustrating. If I could sell it back, I would. Other than that, it is a nice car. I hope they find the solution to this.

Great car with safety features!

It has blind spot and changing lanes safety features as well as backing out. I don’t like the whistling noise it makes when you driver 40 and greater. The dealer check it out and fix the sealer in the front which helps a little. It’s a new line for Toyota. I love it though!

Needs improvement, inside design is lacking

2022 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

We purchased the Toyota Corolla Cross XLE this past week with the Platinum Coverage plan; mainly intended for the wife. In the first week we had some unusual issue when going up an on-ramp - the car had trouble increasing speed and almost stalling. No hard codes, so thought maybe it is the torque converter. Later it went away. The problem was only when the car was cold (outside temp 40 degs). Other problem is our rear door keeps sticking when opening..... have an appointment with Toyota. We only have about 100 miles on the car. The inside/outside is nice, but flaws in its design. The platform charger is a joke. The phone will not stay in place, the wife's Iphone will not charge because the camera's round protruding edge does not allow it to lay perfectly flat. My Android phone also would not charge. My home platform charger works fine, but does not work in the Toyota Cross. Next, the mirror adjustment is small and deep behind the door handle. If you have small hands maybe it is fine, but my hands are larger and I can only reach the electric mirror adjustments with my finger tips.. horrible. The center console storage box is a joke.... so small cannot really put much in it, why bother putting it in? The auto-stop when at a light. Yes, it has a button on the console to allow the motor to keep running if push, but you have to push it (ever) time to start the car, you cannot turn it off completely. I prefer my engine to keep running. It is cheaper than having to replace a starter motor for thousands of dollars because it dies out too soon due to this stop / start nonsense. Leg room: well, after riding as a passenger now for a week it is annoying. I am 6'-1" and with the seat all the way back it still does not have enough leg room, like my other car. When I drive the car, again, need more leg room. I wear a right knee brace and each time getting into, out of, the car it constantly gets stuck on the steering wheel, even with the wheel all the way up. If I open the glove box it almost hits my knees. Auto windows: I do not like the one-touch windows. Every time I put the window down it automatically goes down all the way and is annoying. If it is raining (which it is here), and you only want to "crack open" the window, you cannot.... so in the rain it opens all the way down then you get wet and have to quickly put it back up.... Sound system is ok, need improvement despite the JBL speakers. The display need re-design in selecting items on the menu. I also had a similar problem on my sons new Corolla XLE he bought and it now only has 300 miles on it. One time traveling in his car it took me 1 hour on the road in traffic to perform a function link between my phone and the Corolla. The car is good on gas.... much better than my other car which is a 2.4L, so happy with that. There are many features on this car similar to the Volvo, but again, annoying configuring everything, or trying to shut things off/on. Dec 11, 2023: Right rear door keeps sticking. You can feel and hear it get stuck somewhere around the trim or door lock. I did notice some markings on the rear door latch mounted on the frame - rubbing and scratches, so it is not aligned. Our right front side window (front psgr window) always seems to have moisture on it after sitting. When I run the defrost all the windows (front and rear, and side windows clear up and seem dry), but the right front psgr window stays wet or damp for many hours unless I wipe it off. Concerned about a seal leak in the door.

Love the vehicle, the downside is less compartment storage than I’m used to
