These cars have a engine start/stop malfunction that causes the wheel to lock and you are not able to move the car. Upon further research it has something to due with a glitch when the windshield wipers are on at the same time you use the stop engine function. Several people have has this problem over a year and toyota is still selling these cars even though it’s a huge safety concern. I was stuck in the middle lane on a road with a 50mph speed limit. Luckily with my hazards on people payed attention and went around. The warning reads “low steering power” then says to “press brake firmly to restart”. That does not work. You have to put the car in park wherever your stuck and press the break with the car start button a couple times. I have filed a safety report NHTSA. The service at the dealership is obviously aware since they specifically asked me if it was raining while this occurred. I emailed my sales person who simply replied to “make a service appointment” as if they are’nt aware of the issue and have not been able to fix it for a year! I cannot believe they are still selling these cars. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! Im so disappointed. I had a bad experience with a ford dealership and went to toyota hoping to get a reliable low maintenance car. Ive only had it a month:( UPDATE: I’m still having this problem. I’m working with a lemon lawyer to get it sorted out. Also, the car has a driver’s side airbag recall with no remedy going on 3 months now.

Picked up a 2022 Corolla cross LE AWD a few days ago and let me tell you I am in love with this vehicle. It’s smooth, comfortable and it’s oozing quality all around. The acceleration is good for my driving style. Size is perfect, ground clearance, Toyota reliability and resale value. This vehicle checks off a lot of my must-haves in an SUV. Toyota did an excellent job on this new model. Highly recommended!!

2022 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

I have put 1600 miles on my New Toyota XLE Corolla Cross and paid 31k for it plus for the extended warranties. My XLE has heated seats with switches in the dash to turn them on and off just below the navigation (works great so far). The seats are comfortable for me but I am 5'4 and my significant other who is 5'9 but fitting a car seat in the back that is large greatly reduces the leg room. It has Wifi I think it only works with LTE and I have NOT noticed 5g so for a new 2022 this feels dated already. It came with JBL sound system which sounds decent (newer cars /tvs tend to have terrible speakers. So in comparison this one is as good as my 09 camery) Some times I have noticed that the dial will not adjust the volume which can be remedied by turning off the radio and turning it back on. Navigation says I will need to download an app to utilize it however I feel this should have been pre-installed and I have not found how to install the app however my apple play works great and I can use the navigation on my phone to project on my cars radio. Sun roof (no leaks so far works as should) Adaptive head lights (this is weird and seems to blind everyone coming my direction/ in front of me even when going up hills I don't know how safe this is but I can see like it is daylight at night) All wheel drive (seems to work as it should) Space/glove boxes/trunk (feels more compact then my 09 camery did inspite of it's SUV shape. The RAV4 is larger) materials/fabrics (decent but not luxury by any means) CVT Transmission- sounds terrible while Idling and doesn't stop sounding grindy until you reach 40mph. The Cross is very slow to gain speed so passing has to be carefully planned but it also gets 28 mpg on average with AWD being a reasonable trade off especially with current gas prices. **********Warning lights currently lit at 1600miles or before*** Note car has not been damaged in anyway and is under warranty ******* -Check Engine A malfunction in the electronic control of the engine, throttle or automatic transmission has been detected. Picked up my Corolla Cross from the dealer a few weeks ago, it took a few months till it finally came in. This is a very solid, well made vehicle, reminds me of a larger Hyundai Kona which I owned previously. Lots of great tech and the mileage has been good so far too. Reminds me of a Rav 4's younger brother. The only downside is the road noise, I wish Toyota would have put more sound deadening material into this vehicle. Kudos to my local Toyota dealer who did not try to add thousands to the sticker price due to limited inventory. I am looking forward to years of dependability driving my new Corolla Cross. Bill fm Lawrence, KS. * 6 month update, Still enjoying my Corolla Cross, just had my free maint done. My only complaint would be in certain situations it is a bit under powered. Pulling out from a stop into moving traffic can be a bit tricky, the car does not have much low end power. I have read the hybrid model is more powerful, that may be a better choice to make. I am retired and do not drive every day. If this was a daily commuting car, I would definitely want more power and torque. As far as reliability and quality, no complaints ! UPDATE ONE YEAR LATER- It is one year later, pretty much the same with my Corolla Cross. As far as power, I am using the manual way to shift the automatic to pull out into traffic from a dead stop, it gives me a lot more power that way, M1, M2, M3, etc. The vehicle has been very reliable and mileage has been approx 30 mpg the past year. Only issues I had there was a air bag recall check, and a metal heat shield came loose underneath the vehicle that rattled, but my local dealer here in Lawrence KS, did a great job taking care of those issues for me. Kudos to Crown Toyota.

By far my favorite car I've ever driven. It's so smartly done and I love the way it handles. Very responsive steering and braking. Excellent on gas and I love the real time AWD, which my Rav 4 didn't have - it had to be engaged. I just love this SUV. Things some may consider cons, and to be considered when thinking of buying: it's not a speed demon. It does perfectly fine when it gets up to highway speeds but if you're looking for acceleration that blows you away this isn't that car. Space is adequate not plentiful. If you have a larger or growing family you may want to opt for the Rav 4 or Highlander. The front seat of the Cross is very comfortable, and there is smart storage in the cargo area but a couple sports bags will do a good job of filling it up. Overall I love it. Perfect for my needs.
