I purchased this really sporty looking XSE three weeks ago and love everything about it from the outside, but that quickly changes once I get in it , I absolutely HATE the navigation and apps programs that requires me to plug my phone into the car to use its horrible Scout navigation system. I did test drive it, but it took me several days to get around to programming the horrible so called infotainment system. so for now I have a small Garmin Nuvi stuck to the windshield of my brand new car with a useless seven inch display that I cant use for anything but the radio. As a comparison one of my other vehicles is a five year old Ford FX4 crew cab pickup that has a ford factory navigation system that blows this Toyota afterthought away.

Regret

B Mill, 08/16/2018
2018 Toyota Camry XSE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 8A)

I leased a 2018 Camry XSE (4cyl) in December of 2017. Within a week I held great regret about my decision to go with this car, brand, and dealership (2nd car from them). During the final inspection of the car, I noticed the large plastic divider between the two panes of glass on the panoramic sunroof had fallen down. The dealership immediately fixed it, which was greatly appreciated. Everything else seemed to be perfect. Within an hour of leaving he dealership, the divider had fallen again. It being late in the evening, I called the dealership the next day and had to take the car in a few days later to have it repaired. This has continued on now over 5 visits to the dealership for this specific issue. Each time they simply clip it back in place, and it falls down within minutes of leaving the dealership. Getting the car in the winter allowed me to experience another fun flaw in the car- when the temperature is low (I'd say under 50), the speakers in both front doors rattle to the point of nearly driving me insane. The dealership has denied they do this when the car is sitting still in the heated dealer maintenance shop (which is true). The moment you drive the car however, which the dealership does not do, the rattle, which can be easily heard over even the loudest music, commences. Other issues have included: metal door edge guards pulling away from the car/rattling, back seat seat belt alarms going off randomly, grinding noises from the automatic parking break (have not had addressed yet by the dealer). Total I have visited the dealer around 12 times, and have taken off work for about 3 total days having work done on this vehicle. Toyota corporate's response is simply that the vehicle is under warranty, so keep having it repaired. My lease is for 3 years, and the warranty only lasts 2. I am greatly expecting heavy service bills when that warranty is up as these issues just keep occurring with no end in sight. On my last visit, after many employees telling me how odd these issues would be for such a great car, a service employee mentioned that all the problems I've had have been experienced by others, and I quote "Toyota just rolled these things out too fast". This car has made me long for another brand, and feel regret about having even gone near the 2018 Camry XSE. I should note: the car is very comfortable on long rides, and the engine seems to work well. (Credit where credit is due)

This review is based on the XSE V6. Things I like: (1) Interior and exterior styling, I have the Celestial grey with the black piano top and red leather (2) Performance, 301 horsepower and 8 speed are awesome in sport mode (3) safety features, camera view and pre-collison are great (4) value, for just under $40K this is money well spent (5) Toyota reliability. Suggested improvements (1) driver memory seat (2) some cabin finishes look cheap, USB and 12 volt area (3) in econ mode transmission is jerky at low speeds. If you want a spirited driving experience with good tech features get the V6.

2018 Camry SE Thoughts

2018 Toyota Camry SE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 8A)

I recently purchased this car last month and it has been wonderful. The transmission can be a bit jumpy if you are too quick on the gas upon take off as it hunts to find the right gear (being an 8 speed auto), other than that the gearing has been really smooth. I love the style of the SE (mine is black so it hides those black plastic fins well) and the overall layout. With only 700 miles, I can't comment on long-term reliability but I expect it to be great being a Toyota. Gas mileage has been 25.3 mpg. combined so far and I only expect that number to increase. I love all the safety features including radar cruise and auto high-beams along with RCTA and BSM. For those of you looking at the panoramic sunroof, I wasn't that impressed as it only leaves a 12 inch or less opening if you are actually wanting to open the sunroof. So far the ride and handling has been great on the new TNGA platform and I hope to have this Camry for many trouble-free years to come.
