I purchased my Solara convertible, black with dark gray leather, 9/5/05. I didn't realize it, but nicely equiped and priced convertibles are hard to find. It was truly worth the wait. I looked at all the other available convertibles in this price range, and this one is by far the best. Just reached 1000 miles (mostly open top), and I have absolutely no complaints. The ride is smooth, quiet (for a convertible), and responsive. A true head turner, and many have stopped to talk and take a look. Some have mentioned the poor rear view, but it's not an issue for me, my other cars have high rear ends also, so I've become accustomed to side mirror driving. I really love this car.

Love the car. The visibility factor is of some concern. Car design has a "blind spot" that requires care after a near-miss. Overall, however, a sweetheart.

The most important thing to me is even for a 10 plus year old car they look good, drive great n are the most reliable car especially for a convt you'll find. If you look closely n do u homework most cars over 6 yrs old start to show there serious drawbacks especially BMW's n MB. ( Sorry guys beautiful cars when new but expensive to maintain old, thats why they are so affordable) They Solara convt doesn't have this but warning they did have a faulty dashboard which they replaced on many cars. Though i just bought this n it runs like its new n not one ding on it n interior looks new. I had a 2001 for 3 yrs n it was great but this car is so much nicer n more power. I am thrilled n i have had many convt. It's now been 2 1/2 years. I haven't had anything major happen. I put about 15,000 miles on it. Mine will light the tires if you give it the pedal, but mostly, is drives and handles smoothly. I did have to replace the the hood prop. Real cheap and easy to do. Other than changing my own oil/filter that's been it. Really a well built car, that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to keep. Though if buying use you'll need to change the timing belt. It's an interference engine which means, if that belt snaps you'll be more than just a pedestrian, you 'll need to either replace that engine or repair, and that's not cheap. If you're going to do that, change the water pump and tensioners while talking that all apart. It's worth the peace of mind.

The Solara Convertible is a well built, nicely styled car. The interior is both beautiful and functional, while the exterior is eye catching. Road noise and bumps are well isolated.

After driving my new convertible for 6 months I am thrilled to report complete satisfaction with all aspects of the car. Low wind buffeting, dry interior during car washes and heavy rains, great stereo system. The mileage has leveled off to 27 MGP around town and the seats are so comfortable I can drive all day and all night only to stop for a fill up every 500 miles or so. I wish the exterior styling was sexier, and I'm quite happy that the car is not a hotrod as the professional reviewers have all lamented. Bottom Line: After only 6 months and 12,000 miles I'm looking forward to the new spring/summer/fall driving season where I expect I'll put on another 18,000 miles, or more.
