Logical choice

My 2005 Limited V8 is the first SUV I've owned and the X-REAS suspension and V8 have eased the transition. X- REAS (option for Ltd) "flattens" the vehicle on turns with any kind of speed and reduces lean/roll. My 4Runner is more nimble than I imagined it would be and the turning radius is quite manageable. The V8 has a snarl when the gearing allows it to stay above 2,000 RPM... passing is a joy. You will get pushed into the seat if you floor it (after 1,000 mi break-in!). The interior is firm, but not plush and the dash, etc. is top notch. However, be careful cleaning the clear plastic--it will scratch easily. If you leave the gate window open, you will smell exhaust. MPG? Feh.

Great all around Vehicle

Never have had a repair or adjustment made. Factory tow package easy to use and preforms well. Very steady feel on the road. Handles well at interstate speeds and eats up the open road. Long trips are easy and bad weather driving is secure.

Great Car

I just bought this car and I'm very satisfied with it. I'm still in the process of breaking in the car, but it's still a plesaure to drive it. Just feathering the gas makes the car accelerate quickly.

285,000 Miles and Still Going

I've had my 4Runner now for 10+ years, and it's just bomb proof. I keep up with all the maintenance, and it just keeps running. I'm considering buying a truck now, as I want more trailering capacity. If you're thinking about buying one of these, just purchase it, as you won't regret it. They don't have all the fancy gadgets some of the other SUV's have; however, those gadgets are usually something that fails.

A near perfect SUV

My daughter drove an older one and was hit by a speeding car running a light. Her 4runner sacrificed its own life to preserve hers, she was shook up but unhurt. My bosses daughter rolled one off an embankment from an icy road. She was shook up but unhurt. He was so happy he went out and bought her a brand new one. I know the accident reviews are good for this truck, but we believe they are way understated. We believe it to be one of the safest in the world today. This high quality full frame, (not unibody) truck is one of the few true off road vehicles left. With its low range gearing and its "positive 4 wheel lock" it is a stand out in a crowd of crossovers and halfway vehicles.
