Used 2014 Subaru Forester Consumer Reviews
My favorite of all vehichles
I have owned BMW (325i), Mercedes (C230), VW (Jetta, Convertible Beetle) Dodge Stratus and my college vehicle Chevy Chevette. I was looking at trading in my Mercedes for Lexus but since Lexus was closed, I drove by Subaru (Plano, TX) and thought I would take a look. I work in Electronics and have learned that Japanese take great pride in quality, so I while I had checked out every major car mfg, I was am so glad I walked into the lot. The only one they had left was a blue 2014. I love the sunroof, makes it fun, but with the upgraded wood added, I also feel like driving luxury vehicle. 9 months and I love this vehicle!
Review update after 2500 miles
This is an update review after driving the car 2500 miles. I will keep it short and sweet. - I have noticed that it is somewhat hard to achieve the advertised city MPG but I attribute that to the fact that I am not a grandma driver. I actually use the gas pedal. - Highway MPG is great, even at 75MPH you can get 28-29 MPG. Keep in mind that the 32MPG advertised is achieved at 55-60 MPH. The drag coefficient goes way up once you pass 65 MPH. - I have had no problems and I am overall in love with my vehicle and the AWD system.

Big investment..looking for big reward.
I bought this car after shopping for two months. I kept coming back to it, I like the clean line look, the great visibility and with the premium enough new gadgets but not to overwhelming. I haven't owned the car long...it is a 2014! However, I would suggest to anyone to drive the car both day and night. I HATE the dashboard lighting...it is red. Without 20/20 vision it makes it extremely difficult to see the small icons. Comfort is good but not luxurious. Value was fair. Design is simple and inexpensive hardware. Reliability, visibility and reputation was the selling points. Not getting promised gas mileage yet. On first tank of gas. Look to own this car for long time.
Great Drive, tight turning circle, comfortable
Bought this car to downsize from a minivan. It drives like a dream -- nimble, commanding view. Got the eyesight feature and we like the adaptive cruise control and how it beeps if you stray out of lane. Power is adequate. We opted for better mileage and regular fuel. Been getting 27-33 on the freeway (depending on speed and if a/c is on) and 19-24 in city. EPA number for city isn't real. Cabin is roomy and airy. Visibility is good but rear window could be bigger. Nav system is unintuitive and won't let your passenger program it if car is moving - a drawback in my book. Up front storage is limited. Moonroof uses 6 cu/ft of cargo space but only base model doesnt have it.
SAVED MY LIFE!!!
I purchased my Subaru Forester in 2013 and had to attend a business meeting at the Oregon Coast. The trip required a 1-1/2 to 2 hour drive from Portland through a mountain range. On my way, I took a route that was an easy drive and ended up with a speeding ticket because the car was so quiet and glided along! The meeting was stressful and I mistakenly took the more challenging route to return. While going through the mountains on a 2-lane road with lots of curves and a ravine on my right, I fell asleep at the wheel! Eyesight alerted me that I was drifting to the right and I woke up, wrenched the wheel to the left, and returned to my lane. Without Eyesight, I might not be here today! Still have my Subaru and LOVE it. 💜
