1 YEAR and still "So Far So Good"!
I purchased this because I liked it...period. As with any vehicle I have owned time will determine how much I will like the Ascent over the next several years. We also own a 2016 Outback Limited and after 2 1/2 years we are very happy with that vehicle. Hopefully I will feel the same way about the Ascent over time. UPDATE It is now the middle of July and 6 months have past since my first review. My ratings have actually improved and in no areas have they declined. I continue to be impressed with the Ascent and still have a happy bounce every time I get into it. 6 months and trouble free...not one visit to the dealership "to fix this or fix that". UPDATE - 1 Year Old It is January 2020 and my Ascent is now 1 year old and all is well. Other then installing winter tires last month and its 1 year oil change last Monday all is well. Dealer performed 3 recalls, 1 to replace a PVC valve and two others were software updates. Whether I'm lucky or the problems are not wide spread I've been spared whatever negative problems those recalls were required to fix. Update - 18 months Still “So Far So Good” Every time I get in my Ascent I thoroughly enjoy my ride!

Same thing happened as another owner said
I love the car, REALLY enjoy it, BUT as the The other person wrote, "Within 1,500 miles we had the transmission jump and the RAB light, no eyesight, check engine, check transmission, check at oil temp, check owner’s manual errors. The dealer said nothing was wrong, that it was an error and nothing is out of spec. I don’t feel safe driving this car waiting for the transmission to have another unexplained issue. Otherwise great features, but we definitely shouldn’t have bought a new model. Subaru and the dealer said they can’t do anything to help unfortunately, so we have to wait until lemon law or a recall happens." Same thing happened to me, in addition the radio wiped clean our of any saved stations. I spoke to the dealership and they said if it wasn't currently happening they couldn't do anything for me. They did mention that if they plugged the car in to a machine and check if an issue "code" went off, but even if they saw that, there was probably nothing they could do. The service lady said she hadn't heard of anything happening like this and sometimes if you park too close to something it was send the eyesight into shut down. Turn car off and on a few times and everything will go back. My car was fine after a few on off times. But still, why did it happen anyway? Also the AC is terrible.

A good call except for recalls
A fine ride with decent handling, good features and performance. Looks good too, inside & out. Fuel economy OK, safety rating is tops, and surprisingly I like the CVT. But it has had two recalls. A reprogramming is needed to avoid connectivity failure. The CD player’s refusal to start at the beginning of a CD supposedly is normal. And my windshield had some distortion, took days to replace. All before 6K miles.

Love this Vehicle!
My husband and I have been wanting an Ascent for quite awhile now. We were so excited when we finally got it! So happy with our purchase and will continue to be apart of the Subaru family from now on.
Disappointed from the get go
Went to the dealer to just look and they held our car keys hostage until we gave in and bought the new 2019 ascent . We bought middle price one, not three most expensive feature package but not the cheapest either. It has the third row but no leg room for anyone over 4 feet tall. Middle row has bucket/ captain seats that are uncomfortable for riders over an hour. We paid for the expensive xion paint coating protector and that was a fail. When you clean bugs off it seems to leave a permanent impression in the coating. The dash material stays coated in dust from i don't know where but it seems to attract everything. The air takes forever to cool off. It gets weirder gas mileage than my old 2014 dodge journey. The interior light turns off after 10 seconds when tou have the tail gate open trying to unload groceries. The window seal broke on the drivers windiw and had to be replaced. One of the rear seat belts won't buckle. The rear tailgate kept getting stuck half way open and wont open at all with the key fob. The transmission started slipping after the first oil change and the hood came apart. I had to take the car in and leave it for 3 days to get the hood glued back together and yes, i mean they used a special glue to fix it. Every time a semi went down the road going the opposite direction from me, the whole hood with lift up and down like it was going to fly off. I have taken it in 3 times to have the transmission looked at and they said that they ran a transmission relearn program on it and it would be better for a few days and start slipping again. They told me it was because different people drive it on ac regular basis and the car is trying to learn my driving pattern. I took it in a week ago complaining about the front passenger wheel feeling like it was not turning on hard right turns (thinking a tue rod might be bad) and now they say its the transmission and they are going to replace it. Its been a week and it still hasn't come in. It also smells like it has an exhaust issue in the mornings only. Fortunately, my car is still under warranty so these repairs have been on them but I'm thinking,I should start lemon laws paper work on it.

Better than our BMW!
The 2019 Ascent Touring model has all the bells, whistles, toys and a host of safety features. Super smooth ride and plenty of power, even with passengers in all three rows. It takes regular gas and delivers about 5 mph on average than our X5! Second rot captains chairs provide excellent comfort for back seat passengers and even 3rd row is comfy for adults for short distances. Love this car!!!

Excellent SUV
Spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, luxurious leather seats. I bought mine when the Ascent firstcame out. The transmission had issues within a few months; it was replaced and since then everything has been fine. Except for regular maintenance, I’ve spent nothing on repairs. (50,000 miles on vehicle currently).

Unsafe glass. Subaru refuses to cover under warran
Pros: Smooth drive. My Tesla friends also appreciate this vehicle for the smooth drives. Good for driving on snow and slippery roads. I have a Subaru Acent 2019 Limited. I should have read online reviews before buying this vehicle. This comes from a batch of Subaru vehicles with poor quality glass which easily crack. 6 months after buying, the sunroof glass developed a full end to end crack on a long drive. I took to a service center for checkup. They ran a ballpen test (which I dont know if its scientific), and said a stone hit the glass. I couldn't feel any external damage with my fingers. They refused to cover under warranty, vut agreed after couple of followups. It was replaced free of cost. Couple of month back, front windshield developed a 1.5 ft crack on a long drive. It's taken 1.5 months of followup with another service center (since I moved home) and they flat out refuse to cover this under warranty. Again the ballpen test and claim that a stone hit the glass. There's probably a microscopic mark where the crack started. My good old Toyota Camry (which has seen many long rides) also has few microscopic scratches on windshield, but they haven't expanded into cracks. Called Subaru National helpline, and they practically told me to get lost. They said, if their service center person has said no warranty, then no warranty. National center cannot help. At best, I can take it to 2nd service center for 2nd opinion. I will not recommend Subaru vehicles for long, isolated drives in difficult weather (snow, cold etc) until weak glasses are fixed. Its a safety risk.

best suv
The Accent represents the luxury flagship of the Subaru vehicles. As soon as we purchased the Accent, we took in cross country drive (5,000 miles) to the Northeast USA. Comfortable and quiet ride, smooth engine and spacious cabin. The middle seat reclines and was a major point in buying the Accent. Of course the Subaru 's performance/safety reputation was the starting feature. Highly recommend the Subaru Accent to anyone.
expect this
piss poor insulation package. Very noisy from engine and outside wind. Electronics needs a lot of work. Dealer failed on several occasions to repair crap in the gps and computer settings.
Don’t do it.
I’ll start off by saying I loved my Subaru Crosstrek. When Subaru came out with the Accent I decided to upgrade in late 2018. Right off the bat I knew the quality was not what I was used to with my Crosstrek. The driver windshield wiper came loose a week later and wouldn’t wipe the rain away. The radio would make a clicking sound. Fast forward to 47000 after replacing my breaks and the AC stops working. Apparently it’s not unheard of? And now a couple weeks since I’ve gotten the car back from the dealership the car is not starting. At this point it’s been such a headache with this moderately new car - I’m over Subaru. This vehicle was NOT made to last and this is definitely my last Subaru and will never recommend again.

Good SUV
I have owned numerous other SUV brands in the past, and I would say that the Subaru Ascent is worth considering. It is a good value; you get a lot of features for the price. The initial acceleration jumps off the line takes some driving adjustment with the gas pedal, but once you get comfortable with it then you are fine. It is a great vehicle in the snow, and the safety features work well, although they can be intrusive wrt the beeping from lane keep assist. But overall, I would highly recommend to families that need a three row SUV that won't break the bank and is a very practical solid vehicle as are all Subarus.

2019 Ascent
48K miles on it. No major or minor problems with the car. Was able to fit 4 adults, 2 kids/child seats, one check-in-size luggage case, two in-cabin pieces and four backpacks for a short 1-2 hours ride: not extremally comfortable, but doable nonetheless. Acceleration great, no lurching at the intersections. No problems or signs of transmission malfunctioning so far. A mix of digital and analog functions of the infotainment system is much more "humane" than all-digital one in newer editions of the Subaru cars (we own a 2021 Legacy XT). Fuel consumptions within specs. Road noise is minimal, even at the high speed (70-80 mph on I-95 during trip to Florida). Best car I've ever had since 1988.

Loved everything about the car but the transmission. Few recalls that had the transmissions replaced but each time it took my tires and breaks with it. :( got rid of it as soon as I seen it’s a repeating issue.

Only a Few Days but love the car so far
When shopping, compared this to the Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9 and Kia Sorento. The Ascent had the best balance of size, features, driveability, and value. I am very comfortable with the car so far—but only 200 miles on it at this point.

Great Family Car!
I did a lot of research before buying and chose the Ascent over Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander. I am super happy with the deal I made and the car itself. Zero problems with transmission or anything mechanical. It has 7K miles so far. Feels so solid! The dealership updated a software glitch in the screen. It took about an hour.

The Ascent ascended easily as our choice!
This is my third Subaru and so far we love it. Solid, quiet, quick, stable, luxurious, powerful, loaded with safety features, fun to drive, looks good, and two adults can in fact fit in the third row relatively comfortably.

Over 42,000 brutal miles, and still loving it!
I picked up my Subaru Ascent on June 30th, 2018, and am nearing 43,000 miles. I off road, drive on the beach and tow a massive trailer, and my Ascent has never let me down. It's got plenty of power, is comfy, and (if you like how Subies look in general) has a nice look to it. I love the Touring interior, which is odd. I got it because of the tech package (eg: cameras, smart mirror, etc) even though I hated the Java Brown for years. Since I bought it, it's grown on me and is now my favorite interior color. It feels warm and inviting, and goes well with the warm white overhead and accent lighting. All in all, I couldn't be happier, and expect my next SUV will be another Ascent.
Great SUV..

Porsche in SUV skin
I was looking for a large capacity vehicle, with as many electronic safety and structural safety qualities as possible. I didn’t expect or need speed or gas economy but they came with the vehicle. I wasn’t looking for a sporty motor but the turbo boxer engine is a joy to have.

Great Car! Everything I Need.
I bought the Touring level of trim and added the self-dimming side mirrors. Previously, I owned two Toyota Siennas (the last one was the 2017 SE). I find the Ascent to have a more comfortable, quieter ride with better shifting and better acceleration than the Siennas. The power and acceleration surprised me since the Siennas both had six cylinders (Ascent has four) and were rated slightly higher for horsepower. The Siennas had a bit more interior capacity, and I was worried I would miss that, but so far I don't. The Ascent has plenty of storage behind the third row of seats for hauling groceries, etc. I appreciate that the Ascent sits higher off the ground than the Sienna and doesn't scrape against parking bumpers. The extra height and all-wheel drive have come in handy on rougher unpaved roads. The Ascent is loaded with technology and comfort: Eye-sight system, blind-spot and cross-traffic detection, navigation, Apple and Android car, front heated and ventilated seats, good Harman Kardon 14-speaker system, climate control, heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, auto breaking (it's saved me from backing into things). The gas mileage is about 22-24 miles per gallon average, slightly better than I was getting with the Sienna. I haven't used the third row of seats, so I can't say how comfortable they are, but I believe they are leather like the first and second rows, unlike either of my Siennas, which had leatherette for the third rows. Subaru put extra-wide passenger doors in the Ascent, but I miss the Sienna's sliding doors. The Sienna had two glove boxes, while the Ascent has only one. I've had the Ascent for over a year, and so far, no regrets.

My First Subaru!
I was looking for a mid-size SUV with captain’s chairs and the Ascent had the best design of all the competitors I researched. The seating is comfortable and spacious with plenty of room to access the third row without folding the seats forward. The controls are very intuitive and I didn’t have any trouble getting used to the new features. Very good visibility while driving and it actually feels like I’m driving a much smaller vehicle.

Best vehicle I have ever owned
This is my 6th Subaru and the best. The safety features are outstanding and the ride is very comfortable. At first I was skeptical of a 4 cylinder engine in a big SUV. But the turbo supplies all the towing capacity and passing acceleration I need. The only downside is the gas mileage is a little less that I expected coming from a Forester, but it is a much bigger and heavier vehicle. Overall, I couldn't be happier. Subaru has a winner here. After 5 years with no major problems, I plan to keep this one. There have been a few recalls all of which caused no Issues I was aware of - Hats off to Subaru.

Tolerated for two months Bought Used)
Purchased my 2019 Ascent in May 2020. Traded it in two months later on a 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 and lived happily ever after. The Ascent was a great highway car and fit 7 passengers comfortably. Even climbed a good, steep hill with all those people and didn’t falter. That’s about it as I very quickly fell out of love with the constant beeping (what?? What are you beeping at??). It handled horribly in town. The middle seat was ridiculous to move back into place after letting someone into the third row. I can’t even remember all the things I hated as it has been almost two years, but i do remember I couldn’t wait to get rid of it.
