2026 Rivian R1T

The Rivian R1T launched the all-electric upstart in 2022, and even though it's a few years old now, constant improvements make today's R1T midsize pickup feel just as new as the first one. That's partly due to the major overhaul that the R1T received last year; so significant were the updates that Rivian cheekily refers to these as "second-generation" vehicles. Changes include a new electrical architecture, alongside new electric motors and a revised suite of advanced driving aids. Larger battery packs and subtle aero tweaks improve range, while a revised quad-motor variant pushes output above 1,000 horsepower.

The 2026 R1T's quad-motor variant introduces the brand's latest drive unit, which is designed and produced in-house. As its name implies, this truck houses two electric motors on its front axle and two in the rear. It generated a combined 1,025 hp, and Rivian cites a 0-60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds, making this the quickest vehicle it has ever produced. Despite its increased performance, the quad-motor also offers an EPA-estimated range of 374 miles — an improvement of roughly 70 miles, partly thanks to the upsized battery pack.

While it was the first electric truck on the scene in 2022, today there's no shortage of worthy electron-fed pickups. If size is a concern, however, know that the Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevy Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV and Tesla Cybertruck are all full-size trucks and feel quite a bit larger than the R1T.
