Great and very bad

The 2014 Cayman base model is a tale of two cities. The great: one of the best looking cars on the road, bar none. It’s beautiful. The handling of this car is superb. You feel like a million bucks driving it. The bad: I got caught in a bad blizzard and it felt like a death trap in the highway in 2-4 inches of snow. I was fishtailing all over the Highway, and I couldn’t go up even a slight hill on slippery roads. The tires just spun with or without traction control. I got stuck several times in the middle of a state highway and needed police to get me unstuck. I barely slid into the parking lot of a hotel to stay the night because I couldn’t make it home. Also, the base model had zero amenities inside. Nothing! Even the radio was a total joke. It was like driving an old Russian car. Very bare bones. And the suspension was pretty hard, if you drive on semi rough pavement for more than a few minutes, it would be pretty taxing and unpleasant. So, after two days, I returned the car. No Porsche Cayman for me! I bought a BMW 440i that is newer, has fewer miles, and cost less and I’m very happy.

Never let it go

It’s enjoyable to follow all the new developments in the sports car segment of today’s automotive industry , but , I can not bring myself to let go of my 2014 Base 981 with it’s 6 speed manual transmission. Ten years of problem free ownership. Ten years of dependable fun . After 65k miles it’s not going anywhere . Best of luck with your current and future Porsches .

Porsche Cayman Basic I purchased new and it is an awesome car. I opine 275 hp is more than enough.
