Used 2005 Nissan Quest Consumer Reviews
Reliable. Long lasting cruiser
I bought a new SE in the summer of 2004 and still drive it daily now in 2019. I can attest to its durability! Bad ones first: I had the gauge display in the middle of the dashboard, not in front of the steering wheel. Strange place and with little buttons and signs it took sometimes to learn where they are. About 60-70,000 miles the shift sensors died and the engine died while idle in a congested highway. Put in neutral and restart worked. Had it changed and no more issue. Batteries changed at least 4 times. Front axles changed. 3 Motor mounts broke and replace. Radiator busted about 120,000 miles so replaced along with hoses. Control arms replaced because having alignment issues and tech couldn't realign, but after this tires wear a lot less. Spark plugs and ignition coils (6) replaced twice. Brake pads and rotor replaced twice. The digital display rebuilt (find an ebay repair but had to uninstall and shipped the unit, see utube instruction) because missing pixels. I mostly did the maintenance myself by watching youtube. With all of these bad's, transmission was never a problem; it was silky smooth to this day. AC runs cold. It still runs strong, though creaking sounds occasionally heard, and it has a very small oil leak. Also check engine light on/off by itself occasinally coming from the catalytic converter or oxygen sensors but gone away after car wash. All these I ignore! The rest of the system works, ie sunroof, navigation, TV's, bose radio, etc. Still hang on and drive it daily pushing 200,000 miles Update 2/2020 It is now over 200000 miles and keeps going daily. Transmission is still as smooth as the day it’s out of the dealership

80,000 nightmare
Bought this car last year. It only had 62,000 miles and all service records were produced. Thought we had lucked up, HOWEVER - brakes squeaked constantly - dealer tried to fix, but squeaking continued. A month in, the cd player broke. Went to open the rear gate and the trim that covers the latch came off in my hand! It is funny to count the ones we see around town with that piece missing. While on vacation, the check engine light came on at around 78,000 miles. Got back, called Nissan and was told that the converter was covered up to 80,000 miles, BUT since I had taken the car to my local garage instead of a Nissan dealer, they would not honor warranty. Just a 2010 VW - no more Nissans!

We now have over 10,000 miles on an 05 Quest SE used as a company car. We found most auto writer reviews just plain wrong. Side doors and back are bigger than competitors. Ride, handling, and feeling of safety in bad weather is very impressive. The 3.5L engine is great, and we have logged several tanks of fuel over 26mpg - the EPA highway figure! average over first 6,000 miles including break-in and Winter driving was 22.8. A/C works very effectively. Contrary to reviews, second row seats do fold down with headrests in place. The mid-level sound system is good. Four different drivers operate this vehicle regularly and report that the center-mounted speedo takes 15 minutes to get used to.
Love Car
We just bought this car a few days ago. We found out that we needed a new engine for something the previous owner hit. Nissan was so wonderful they gave us a brand new engine for free under factory warranty. Love Air Controls! Love amount of space, fold down second and third rows, and extremely comfortable!
You'll get good at installing brake pads
2005 Nissan Quest - Quality issues We purchased the car with 16k mi in 2008. Car now has 55k mi. We have replaced the struts in the tailgate door $700, motor in tailgate door $650, 4 sets of brake pads (front & rear), 3 sets of tires. Gas gauge does not work properly, sliding side door will sometimes decide not to close so you have to turn it on manual to shut, other side door freezes shut in winter time, rear windshield wiper has not worked since buying, a/c is intermittent, skirts that are supposed to hide under captains chairs will not stay attached and cause tripping hazards. Van avgs 16mpg overall, but a measly 13mpg city driving.
