Used 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Consumer Reviews
No brainer
I love being on the road and not seeing my car everywhere (had an accord yrs ago and hated that). Even better is that I think everyone in those "other" over marketed cars simply made an uneducated buying choice! The Oultander, IMO, wins in style, value, features, reliability and most importantly warranty to boot. 5yr 60K mile bumper to bumper is a great idea. It always bothered my when I bought Honda and Subaru that you'd still be paying for the car with 2yrs payments left! Of course those dealers said "it's a Honda, you don't need a warranty"...Right, car dealers always tell the truth! If you go for the CRV, I'll be next to you at the light thinking "you dope"...LOL.
Decent SUV, but has some cons
We bought a 2011 Outlander in 2015 with rather low mileage. It has the 3.0 liter v6 engine, 6-speed automatic and currently has 127,000 km (79,000 mi). It’s been a pretty good car overall. It can tow up to 3500 lbs, and the engine is surprisingly powerful, but can be loud at times. The shifts are pretty smooth once the car has warmed up, and the AWD is great in snow. However, the interior is a mixed bag. The seats, armrests and steering wheel are leather, but the dash has a lot of hard plastics and can feel cheap. The seats can become a bit uncomfortable on longer drives, but aren’t bad on short trips. The back seats are great. They are rooma, can recline and even move forwards and backwards. The third row, on the other hand, is so small and uncomfortable that I wouldn’t even consider using it. Once you fold the third row away, the cargo area is quite large. Up front, there is an infotainment system with a backup camera. The camera is good enough, but the rest of the system is infuriating to use. To change radio station, you have to repeatedly click on the tuning buttons until you get to the correct frequency. It’s a very confusing system in general. Confort wise, the ride can be rather bumpy on bad roads and there is a pretty good amount of noise on the highway. Reliability wise, it’s been alright. I heard that the models with the smaller engine can have transmission issues, but the ones with the v6 seem quite a lot more reliable. However, our brakes failed once and we’ve had two exhaust leaks. There are a few squeaks and rattles in the cabin, but they are very minor. Overall, it’s a decent car, and I would recommend it if it has the v6. However, it’s not the most refined suv out there and the fuel economy is rather poor.

Great value, great vehicle!!
I researched small/mid-size suv's for months. I test drove Honda's, Toyota's, Chevy's, Ford's, Mazda's and for some reason, the Outlander was the last vehicle we looked at. I don't think Mitsubishi promotes this vehicle enough. But... we fell in love with the estimated MPG, body style, and most of all, the price. My 6'4" husband loves the head room and comfortable seating. It handles great and I'm getting 22 mpg in city driving in Southern California. You can't beat the warranty and I expect the MPG to get better since I've only had the vehicle for 4 weeks. Great value and a great looking SUV, we're loving it.
Decent Value
Compared lots of other models (Mazda CX-5, Buick Encore, Kia Sorrento and Sport age, more). This one won on price, warrantee (over Mazda, Buick, and other 3/36 warranties), and room/versatility/fuel economy for the price. They were all good, but this was lowest priced and came with a lot of room, flexibility and deceng mpg. Only real complaint is build quality. Kinda cheaply built. But overall, very nice so far.
2012 Outlander GT
Overall this is a good SUV. The exterior design is very appealing. The interior is more like a sports car cockpit. Everything is at the driver's fingertips. The MIVEC 3.0 performs very well and responds good when needed. The fuel economy seems very good for a V6.
