You need to drive one!!
You will not believe for a second this a 4cyl until you raise the hood. This car smokes any 6 and most cyl on takeoff, top end and certainly cornering. No cons that I can see except the clutch is hard to get used to, it releases about 1" from the floor.
Excellent Sleeper Car
After 1.5 years, I still greatly enjoy the car. It's fun to drive - a great less-expensive alternative to a BMW 3 series. Hard to believe it's a 4-cylinder, as it has more low-end torque than most 6s I've driven. There's a "hiccup" at very low RPM if you suddenly floor it, so stay above 3000 if you need instant power.

Love it!
Since purchasing my Speed6, the dollar:fun factor ratio is unbeatable. Other vehicles offering all that the MS6 does cost almost twice as much (read: Audi). Very happy thus far with this vehicle all around.
What I have been waiting for.
To me this is the perfect size car, ample for four average-sized adults. It actually has more power than needed, but handles it very well. I have over 12,000 miles already on it. The worst gas mileage it has recorded is 24 mpg; the best about 29 mpg. You must enjoy shifting to use its capabilities - 6 speeds and a turbo power band between 2900 and 5600 rpm. Engine is very quiet. I drive in mountains and snow; traction is excellent. Handling is predictable and "like being on rails". I enjoy the understated appearance; think the exhaust outlets are a bit overdone. With a slight effort you can fold the rear seats down, allowing snow skis to be carried inside, or take your dog on a trip.
Good bang for the buck
Have had this car for over a year and love it. Have had very few problems outside of getting the keylees entry module replaced for the trunk, which was covered under warranty. Otherwise the car has been supurb. Power hits hard and is smooth to about 5500 rpm. I would suggest getting an upgrade to the ECU to tap into the full capibility of this turbo, but be aware the turbo is pretty well maxed out. There are several mods you can do to help this. Critically speaking, you must put 91+ in the car or it goes into limp mode, the build quality is a little less than the upper end cars so I have been noticing a few squeaks here and there, but nothing annoying as of yet.
MS 6 GT So far, so good
I have had my MS 6 now for 6 months and 7,500 miles. It is a lot of fun to drive, but takes some work to master the clutch and gas pedal. The clutch is a bit edgy, and you need to back off the gas as the turbo spools up, especially in first and second!! One item seen in many reviews is the fuel mileage the MS 6 gets. For the first 2,500 miles the best I could do was 18 to 19 MPG. At 2,500 I changed the oil with Royal Purple. On the same driving route I am averaging 25 MPG mixed hwy and city. On the hwy I run 70 to 80 MPH, so I don't feel I'm driving too easy. Some may feel the car has a stiff ride, well it does, but drives like it's on rails!! Not for every one but right for me!!
Love this car
I bought this car back in November 2006. I haven't had any problems with this car. The only thing I had to do was replace the tires because the factory tires wear down fast. The speed of this car is great. I have no problems getting around other cars that don't want to get in the right lane. This is the best car I have owned.
Excellent Enthusiast Value
After owning the Speed6 for over 2 years, I still enjoy it as much as the day I bought it. More, in fact, because I've learned how to drive it properly. It's a bit of a temperamental car with an odd power band. But it is fast, handles very well, and has excellent brakes! It gets just so-so gas mileage, at least if you drive it aggressively. It offers very nice features, such as a Bose stereo, xenon headlights, and auto climate control. You will absolutely need snow tires in cold climates!! All in all, I think this is a great alternative to the more expensive sport sedans out there. Make sure you have the clutch update done. It makes a huge difference in driving comfort!
Who would have thought
This car is still amazing!!! I have had it for two years and love it day in and day out. A wolf in lamb's clothing, passing so called sports cars having them look and think what the heck is that. I wish there was another mazdaspeed coming out soon.
Ups & downs
274HP 280TQ great alternative to STi or EVO if you need the space @ this price. Avg of 22mpg on 80 mile trip daily @ 90% hwy @ 80mph. Handling is great for a daily driver. If your an experienced driver, turn off trac control in snow and rain like I do. I hate losing power to the wheel when there's a dip in the road. 18" wheels looks great but expensive to replace tires (had snow tires and popped 2 and it cost me $250.00 each) After a short trip during winter, came to a stop and idle for about 2 minutes and saw smoke coming out of the exhaust with a burning smell (drove normally). Had to trade it in due to high gas prices for a hybrid. I think I'll sacrifice speed for mpg.
Best car I've ever owned
I bought my Mazdaspeed 6 a little over a year ago. I am the third owner, and the previous two owners kept EVERY RECORD for this car. I literally have a file folder nearly two inches thick! It currently has 165k miles on it, and still drives and rides like it's brand new. I have had zero issues with it, the only thing it's cost me is a new battery, 5 tires (my daughter hit a rock and popped one), brakes, and oil changes. The clutch took some getting used to, it is a little looser than my other car, but that car also has a brand new clutch and flywheel so no big deal there. I wasn't prepared for how hard it pulled, it has some serious power! I have to constantly watch my rpm in case I forget to upshift, because the engine doesn't strain, even doing 65 in 4th gear. This is my forever car! I love everything about it EXCEPT the stereo and headlights. With a Bose speaker system, I expected to have a better stereo, but I will eventually replace it. I have owned two Mazda 6's, and they both have had terrible headlights. They will be replaced as well. All in all, if you have the opportunity to purchase one of these, DO IT! You won't regret it!

I Love it, except ......
What I wanted was the Mits EVO or the Subaru Impreza STI. I also have a wife and one test ride threw those cars out. So in came the Volvo S40 AWD T5, Audi A4 Quattro, Subaru Legacy GT and Mazda MSP6. The Volvo needed a little more power but a very nice car. The Audi just started to cost too much with all the options. The Subaru styling was little too bland but it was fast. The Mazda just did the best job with HP, price and styling. I have had it for a few months and still like attacking on/off ramps and just cruising in it. The Bose sound is mediocre at best. I will be replacing the speakers soon. The seats could use more upper body bolstering. The tires could be bigger 235's would be nice.
OZ MPS
I just love this car. I traded a 2005 Mazda6 Hatch for it. Just love Mazdas . Previously owned a 2004 Mazda3 SP23 as well (bought the wife an RX8! too). The MPS is a surprise package, so much torque with just a ankle rotation to blast off any annoying tailgater. The car has RX8 wheels on it and the car benefits from addition. I just love the feel of the car. Its steering is more weighted than the standard Mazda6 and it is a dream to drive in the wet. So safe and so forgiving. My friend has an Audi S4 it's certainly no better and in Oz is twice the money....
Great Car
Went from 6S to SPEED6 - what a difference. This is a great car, lots of power, handles great in turns!
Simply Incredible.
275 turbocharged HP. Racing suspension. Handles incredibly well. All wheel drive. Nice exterior. Well built. Smooth ride. Nearly impossibe to skid in any direction 145 mp top speed. Luxury look. Will ruin your desire for other cars.
