I had been slowly looking for a new car when I happened to need a rental last year and was given a 2013 Mazda3. Mazda wasn't even on my list but after a half mile driving that rental, I was definitely impressed! I researched further, and test drove other cars (Toyota, Honda, Chevy) just to be sure. Those other cars were boring to drive, and just irritating. My main concern was access to the dealer which is a bit more of a drive but the service there has been excellent for routine maintenance so far. I liked the Mazda3, too, but for a little more money I get almost the same great gas mileage and a lot of extra room, plus a CD player which I wanted. Also, I like the seats better on the 6. Bottom line is, I love my Mazda6. It is a pleasure to drive with its sporty handling, responsive steering, smooth transmission, and excellent brakes. I frequently go up to the mountains in SoCal where my Mazda6 eagerly takes on the twisty roads at 8,000 ft. plus elevation. Hard to believe something so well put together and reliable can also be so beautiful to look at, but the Mazda6 really is all that! So practical, yet so gorgeous!! I have heard this car can be noisy but in my experience that is only on certain kinds of pavement. I think it's comparable to most of the cars in its class. One caveat, I would be sure to get the backup camera and blind spot monitoring, as it can be a little hard to see out when changing lanes or parking, etc. I would be in trouble without those features. At 13,000 miles I've come to depend on them. I do wish I could raise the seat another inch or so, and a deeper visor to better block the setting sun would be nice. But that's about it!

This is a wonderful car, especially if you like Mazdas. The engine while often criticized as 'underpowered' is plenty powerful enough to pass other vehicles and does well with everyday driving. It is well worth the 28/40mpg that you get from the engine. The suspension is a little stiff, but personally love it.

Style and substance in one great car

I've had this car since 8/31/14 and now have 15,500 miles. The exterior styling still looks as good as ever and the seats are amazingly comfortable with the right amount of support. Press the push-button start and let the fun begin. The engine has decent power, but 0-20 mph may require a bit more pressure on the gas pedal. NOTE: I installed a K&N Air Filter when my car reached 10,000 miles which slightly improved the performance in all situations. If you install this air filer you may experience a slight decrease in mpg (I am averaging 1 mpg less than before) but the trade-off for better performance is worth it. The tires have plenty of grip combined with the standard 17" alloy wheels. Steering and suspension are responsive to every input so you can have fun taking corners or enjoy a smooth ride in daily commuting. The interior is simply laid out with good ergonomics, high quality materials and switchgear throughout. It's not a flashy interior (which is a good thing). This is a driver's car!

Mazda makes great cars and the Mazda 6 is no exception

The Mazda 6 is a great car. The exterior styling is very eye catching and the 19" wheels are beautiful. I purchased the Grand Touring because I wanted heated seats, however I had to get Nav, which I did not really need. The fit and finish is excellent and the handling is top-notch. Acceleration is decent and power is strong is you really hit the petal. The Engine is tuned for fuel economy so torque feels weaker at low speeds. Ride is firm, but I think it is actually comfortable. Agile and fun to drive are two words that describe the driving experience. The inside feels comfortable and upscale. I think this is a near perfect blend of economy and performance.

Worst Car I've Ever Owned

Personally speaking, my car appears to be a dud. I own a 2015 Touring Mazda 6 with the Bose and Moonroof package. I have taken it to my dealership a ridiculoys number of times with no success. My Tire Pressure Monitoring system has been 'fixed' multiple times. It threw another code tonight. After 'proper' recall fix. The driver seat is electric and makes the worst squealing sound like the motor is going out. I frequently can't get my car to lock and unlock. I've had issues with my paint including rail dust and flakes. The headlights make the most awkward line. The headunit frequently messes up and turns itself on and off. My car shudders when shifting gears occasionally or loses power all together. At an idle the engine tends to surge. It also makes a clicking sound. My list goes on and on. There are horrible blind spots. The brake pads wear unevenly. It is just frustrating to invest in a beautiful car for it to fall apart. My dealership is rude and unhelpful. This car has been in and out of the shop causing me to miss work and classes multiple times. I bought this car thinking I wouldn't need to worry about the maintenance as much as my 1994 Acura Legend. However, my 21 year old car proved to be more reliable. Be very wary of Mazda and their warranty issues. They require their technicians to duplicate issues before they will even look at records to see what the problem could be. Their technicians are very unskilled. I've even dealt with a regional rep who was the first half decent customer service person I dealt with. My car is still unfixed. This has been on going for MONTHS. It all begin before or right after 5000 miles.
