Want a Car or SUV? Lexus UX lets you have both.

I first drive the regular UX as a loaner vehicle when I was getting service. I did not like the drive at all. Felt like a lower end vehicle's powertrain. Nothing about it said luxury. When I heard they had the hybrid model coming with AWD, I had to give it a test. I've always owned sedans or sports coupes. Didn't consider SUV's because I love the driving dynamics of well built cars and worried I'd lose that with an SUV. This UX hybrid crossover fits the bill nice. Great handling, quiet, and comfortable. Very smart of Lexus to make the hybrid model AWD standard with that electric motor boost. You REALLY feel the difference. That low end torque makes the car a fun drive. I had an IS 200t before. Though it was a "faster" car the turbo lag was always a pain. With the UX hybrid, you lose speed but have the instant power. The fuel economy is the cherry on top!! It comes loaded with tons of safety tech adding to the comfort of the car. The backseats are pretty tight and the cargo isn't huge (although way better than the IS). The front columns are pretty big so you do get some wind noise there going above 65 mph. Overall its fun, practical, beautiful, comfortable. Nice job on this one Lexus.

I waited a month before posting my review. We purchased the UX250h with premium trim. We are delighted. We can't believe we're in a Lexus at this price point. The interior is gorgeous and loaded with amenities. Synthetic leather is great! The rear cargo section is indeed smaller because the battery pack is below the cargo area. But we're out of family mode, no longer driving around the boys, so it works for us. Plenty of cargo space with back seats folded down. MPG is less than advertised. Isn't it always? I'm getting between 34 & 35 MPG in the city and 33 on the highway. My biggest concern was the acceleration, based on the reviews. I don't get it! Plenty of guts to merge in traffic. If you really like some giddy up, there is an easy to access "sport" mode right near your right hand that gears up the transmission and gives EXCELLENT acceleration on demand. My second largest concern was widespread complaints about infotainment interface. With respect, all I can say is you might find it weird simply because you never used it before. It works like a mouse pad. I got the hang of it in 15 minutes. Now I hardly ever use it because integrated Android Auto lets me command almost every thing with my voice. Oh. One minor disappointment. If you are an Android user, there is no Lexus navigation app. That took me about 10 days and a trip back to the dealer to learn. But with integrated Android Auto, that's no big deal.

Love my 2019 Lexus UX 250h

I've owned my 2019 Lexus UX 250h F sport for 4 months now and love it. It feels like I'm driving a sports car, not an SUV. It hugs tightly to the road and handles great. The complaints about the small interior are valid but I knew that when I bought it knowing that most of the time I'm the only one in the vehicle. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars is the gas mileage. All the other reviews I've read people say they are getting around 40 MPG in the city. I'm lucky to get 32 even when I'm being extra conscious of my driving habits. I live in Colorado and there are very few level streets. I'm going up and down all the time so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. I feel as though I got a good value when comparing features and cost to other luxury brands in this class.

I bought my UX hybrid about a month ago. It was the least expensive vehicle I could find that had every essential feature I wanted: hybrid, AWD, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitor, and individual tire pressure display. It has tons more features and can even drive itself, at least for a minute or so until it begins to get concerned and alerts you. An unexpectedly great feature is that it will show you the last speed sign it saw, although it doesn’t read the “small print” such as school hours for reduced speeds. One of the reviewers here said old folks shouldn’t buy this car because of all the advanced tech features, but I’m an old person and feel just the opposite! Give me all the tech features possible! My sales person and the dealer’s tech expert were very patient in explaining all the features and I still call them on occasion. I’m getting about 42 mpg. My wife and I took it on a 1,000+ mile journey recently and it was more comfortable as a touring car than her 2014 Lexus 300 hybrid! The only thing that has disappointed me is the range - it’s maybe 450 miles. That’s not too bad since that’s further than I would want to drive without a “pit stop” anyway. Looked very hard at alternatives and almost bought the new RAV4 hybrid, but it was actually more expensive (the dealer had installed a GPS locator for about $1700; my UX hybrid has a locator system that I presume was factory installed) and only informed you when tire pressure was low, not the actual pressure. Sorry, but I’m done with that. Fast forward 8-9 months: love car! I would definitely buy it again. Best features: safety features, long distance comfort, Lexus service. Worst: noisy inside (is it the run flat tires? Lack of sound insulation?), track pad controlling display can be a bit difficult, lack of range.

It's my fourth Lexus so that's a good indication that not only are the cars very well built and safe, they are really attractive. I want a smaller car with a hatchback and this new one has AWD unlike my previous car the CT200h, which I also really liked.

Luxury on a budget, 15 months ownership update

I am a car enthusiast and I am used to switching cars every 3 years (or less). I already know the negatives of this UX Hybrid before asking my wife to test drive it: tight backseat, shallow trunk, harder to use touchpad and no touch screen etc. Nonetheless I got a bit tired of seeing low MPG of my previous midsize SUV (i.e. Kia Sorento with average 17-20 MPG for mostly city driving), I could not resist trying out this small subcompact hybrid. Here are what I like about the car other than the 38-39 MPG after 3 months of use: 1) fake leather looks real (the "Nuluxe", I do not think my wife knows and I do not plan to tell her unless she asks lol), 2) the car feels fast from a stop (from research I was told it is because the car has a real first gear unlike other conventional CVT transmission), the whiny sound is kept to a minimal when I press the "regenerative" brake with natural brake feel, 3) the presence of CD disk player, 4) the fact that it is a short car make it easy to park in New York City. In addition I am surprised by the amount of headroom at the rear seat (I am 5'11") so as long as the taller backseat passengers sit more upright it should compensate for the lack of leg room. Anyway a few additional comments for Lexus: 1) The UX250h Luxury trim was no where to be found in my area (therefore no memory seat and I do not want anything with "Sports" trim), 2) please do something about the touchpad, 3) very difficult or almost impossible to change the volume for navigation app through Apple Carplay, 4) can you make birds eye view/Top view camera more readily available even though I know it is a small car but the camera will help parking at parking lot (especially NYC parking lots) a much more pleasant experience, 5) I know this car's MPG is good, but can you please make the fuel tank a bit bigger please (10 gallon is just not good enough....). Fast forward after 15 months of ownership, fuel consumption continues to be good (average 36.8 MPG), but the touch pad is still hard to use and the tight back seat makes me itch about replacing the car with one with more rear seat room. The next generation Lexus NX (and the Hybrid version) which is bigger than the UX will definitely be in my shortlist if I continue to lease a Lexus brand vehicle.

Hybrid luxury compact SUV Unicorn

There are not many luxury hybrid compact SUVs out there - you can find compact SUVs, hybrid cars, luxury cars, etc, but difficult to find the best of all 3. The Lexus UX is the unicorn if you like a small, fuel-efficient car that holds the road (17.1 turning radius), and is very comfortable and sleek. The technology for safety and convenience is a WOW, especially the iPhone app that allow for remote control of locks, engine, guest drivers, etc. Lexus customer service is second to none and that's a real selling point too. Cost is highly competitive when compared to Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz, etc.. Draw backs are smaller cargo size and back seat leg room.

This is my second hybrid. Love them. Less maintenance, fewer oil changes, and longer lasting brakes in addition to the great mileage. The UX is perfect for active seniors that want a versatile smaller car that is safe, easy to handle in tight parking lots, and comfortable to drive.

Perfect balance for a crossover and fuel economy

I have had my UX 250H F Sport for 2 weeks and love it. I went for the 10 inch screen with built in Navigation and a Heads up Display. The acceleration is excellent and the gas mileage beats all other crossovers. The technology in the car is tin the top tier with radar speed control, blind spot warning, crash avoidance, and more. The infotainment takes some getting used to with the touch pad, This was an upgrade from my Lexus 2011 CT 200H. 2 items with the car that annoy me. #1 the glove box is divided in such a way that it holds very little. I have a long checkbook and it will not fit in there. #2 the privacy shade is a cheap item that should have been designed like the horizontal shade retracts.into a holder on the CT 200. This is not what I expect on this level vehicle. It is the smallest of the Lexus line 9/10 of an NX, the bigger cousin of the now discontinued CT200. In this class is the BMW X1, Volvo XC40, and Mercedes GLC300. I believe the Lexus provides the highest value for features that add significantly to the prices of the other vehicles in the same class

doesn't seem to be overpriced .it holds the road rather nicely and easy to drive. I'm looking forward to winter driving to see how it performs as I live in the northeast. Their come with run flats and I will have to purchase winter run flats which are 2x the price of regular winter tires, or do I chance it of not having a spare. Only other issue is that I can't find a company that makes a rear hitch for my bike rack and I'm not putting a muddy MOUNTAIN bike on the roof. In summary the efficiency so far is over the to 5 outta 5. The controls are easy to operate, the acceleration is fine, the roominess also works well. Haven't done a long highway trip yet but I'm sure it's also 5 on 5

UX 250h F-Sport

I bought a UX in March, I opted for the F-Sport package and couldn’t disagree more with Edmunds note that it ruins the ride. It’s comfortable, and with the f-sport tuning has a noticeable change in acceleration. The f sport package not only looks gorgeous but is also far more fun to drive. Zero complaints after 3 months of driving.

The UX250h is a great car for anyone looking to get a hybrid and still have something a little sporty. I have the 2019 ux250h f sport for about a year now and average mpg ranges from 32 to 37 depending if I drive more in the city or highway. sport mode has enough pick up to merge into traffic or for spirited driving. The seats are sporty and look amazing. The handling on this car is amazing as well as it is very smooth and quiet. I do love all the spec and safety features it comes with, especially the remote services from the phone app. Many competitors will charge an extra 3 to 8 grand for all the additional safety features within this car. The only down side that the car has would be that the trunk is a little small. But other than that the car has amazing handling, great mpg, great apple carplay and enough pick up for a little fun. if the trunk was a bit bigger, it would probably bethe best hybrid suvs out there.

Fun to drive, handles well on turns and curves, mileage is amazing. Downside - very little trunk space; needs more cup holders, especially for the back seats. June, 2022 update - After 2 years, my opinion about this car has not changed. It has been a fun, dependable car with great gas mileage (especially important with the current outrageous price of gasoline). I am impressed with the maneuverability and quick reaction time of this car and recommend it.

I leased this car as a replacement for a CT 200 (also leased). This car has grown on me to the point where I can say I love it, and look forward to every drive. First, the ride and handling are excellent. Really smooth, quiet, but responsive on the road. Fit & finish is excellent, and feels much more like a luxury vehicle than the CT. The car seems large coming from the CT 200 but easily fits into a compact space. Apple CarPlay is great, as are all the electronics. Cargo area is small but I just finished hauling a lot of stuff with the back seats down so this car works for transporting things that would not fit in the trunk of a sedan. The styling is a little polarizing and reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Jerry had a girlfriend that looked very attractive under some lighting and not so attractive under other lighting. However, I have people coming up to me in parking lots loving the styling and asking what kind of this is. I get a new car every 3 years and this is one opf the best cars I have driven in many years and very happy with Lexus.

Comfortable, stone quiet. This little baby (brand new) is returning WAY IMPRESSIVE mileage. I've long since learned to peg my highway cruise to 57-58 mph, and am getting 49-to over 50 mpg. Wish I could attach the pictures to show... UPDATE: Lease up. Went "downmarket" to a Toyota Venza Limited. Should be badged a Lexus, but it would have been $10k more...

I kept my little convertible EOS for 12 years waiting for another car that I would LOVE in the same way. My criteria seemed fairly simple: Quirky (different) AWD, over 35 mpg, nice cruising vehicle that could fit bigger items occasionally, and panaramic sunroof. I didn't get the panaramic roof, but that was okay, I don't sit in the back while driving anyway. I get 36 mpg overall, which could be better, but I'm pleased with that. It worked VERY NICE in the snow, so that made me very happy, and it is very comfortable (I'm 5'5"). It fits taller people and they will be comfortable, but they do need to bend down low in order to get in. The trunk space is okay, but obviously with the hybrid, it is limited. My son asked why I didn't get the Toyota Prius AWD, and I told him that for not much more money, I have a Lexus, that's why. I love it, and I'm pleased.

Lux City Runner

15 month review on a 2019 Lexus UX250H F-sport 2. First off summer fuel ecomony in the city is excellent averging 45.2mpg or 5.2l/100kms, this does drop in the winter and drops a lot when below -20 C, winter months we are averging 31.7mpg or 7.4l/100km. This is still very mileage for snow/ice driving with winter tires. The hybrid braking I find is excellent for icy conditions, it just feel so stable and easier to control than any previous car. Because this platform wasn't intended to be a hybrid AWD cargo space and loading height are not the greatest, when going for a test drive bring along some gear to store and try out the cargo area. The exterior lighting is top notch on our model, has the adaptive lighting that turns on on lower speed corners. Areas to improve: the overhead consule needs a redesign to get the rear view mirror height increased, it sits very low and for taller drivers it start to block part of the windshield more than you want. Some plastics on the B-pillar need to be upgraded to soft touch to prevent seat belt buckles from making lots of noise when the passenger seat is unoccupied or even taking the seat belts off. Mild dash redesign to move the center display closer and make it a touch screen, BUT keep the little sunshade over it. Don't just drop it onto the dash like the RX, NX and new IS, it just looks like someone dropped a tablet and it melted onto the dash and the just went with it. Lastly, come up with a performance model, just get a mild boost onto the motor for better power on the highway, in Europe it comes with the adjustable shocks, should be an option here.

I’ve never bought a car this small. It had all I thought I needed at a great price point. The gas mileage is fantastic. I’ve averaged 39.7mph for 31 months on mostly suburban driving. The front two seats are very roomy and comfortable and I’m tall. It has nice convenience features. I have issues with the phone, car play and navigation. They often won’t work together. And of course, when traveling and using navigation, I’d like to use my phone. I think it’s a bit light in Chicago winters and short on cargo space and backseat room, but overall I’m very happy with my first Lexus and will likely buy a larger model next.

After driving 10 cars in the last 8 years I finally settled on this little beauty. I did a lot of research before I purchased it. I got everything I wanted 4 wheel drive, Run Flat, Sunroof, Great sound system, Hybrid was a must since I have owned 4 Priuses. All my big Speakers fit (since I am a bass player and need to bring amps to my gigs). I have owned 4 Lexus cars so I am hoping this one will be as reliable as the others ,, I plan to drive this little gal for a while, Yes I am settling down to a one car dude ~

Great car; peppy with great fuel economy

Although this is the smallest of the SUV's in the Lexus lineup, it is quite comfortable for day-to-day driving for two adults and is really still a pleasure for even long road trips. It provides adequate room for short outings with another couple sitting in the back seat. Performance is really very good and economy is tops! I have gotten 42 miles per gallon without trying to drive with economy in mind. On a recent road trip of 2500 miles with mountains and hot temperatures, the 42 mpg was great.

Incredible underrated Hybrid - Love my UX 250h!!!

Let me start by saying I absolutely love my 2019 Lexus UX 250h - by far the nicest and most enjoyable car I have ever owned. And I've owned a lot! The fit and finish is superb! High quality materials are used throughout and the controls are well-made and solid. The driver's seat is extremely comfortable and the heated/ventilated controls are the best I've ever used. Love the heated steering wheel! The infotainment/stereo/Bluetooth are all amazing and work flawlessly. I really love the looks of it too - I get compliments all the time! And the gas mileage is phenomenal - I get 41.5 mpg faithfully - and I don't baby it either. And it has plenty of power! That's another pet peeve of mine - sluggish? Are you kidding? The UX250h is QUICK. In normal mode which I use 99.9% of the time I have more than enough power. And it is very smooth power. Toyota has perfected the Hybrid systems in their cars and it shows. The safety features in the UX 250h are amazing, too. You name it - this car has it. My insurance actually went down from a 2015 Lexus when I purchased the 2019 due to it having so many safety features. The ride is superb as well. For a small wheelbase car it takes bumps beautifully. Supple is how I would describe the ride, even with run-flat tires which are not known to ride very well. And it handles great too - nice and predictable handling which makes the driving experience even more enjoyable. As you can see I really do love this car. Does it have any negatives? Every car has something we don't like. There is some highway/road noise at around 75 mph that I've gotten used to, maybe the run-flats or just the overall design of the car itself. But it is still such a quiet vehicle that it doesn't really bother me. I just turn up the amazing stereo and enjoy. The cargo area is not that large, but I knew that when I bought it. I just fold down the seats and instant extra cargo space! The gas tank is very small at around 10 gallons. I wish it was just a little bit bigger- maybe 12/13 gallons but I can live with a 400+ mile range between fill-ups. Add in Lexus reliability and panache and this car cannot be beat. I hope to drive this UX for well over 200k miles and enjoy it every day doing so. You won't have any regrets buying a UX 250h. Trust me! I really wish the press gave it the recognition it truly deserves - probably the most underrated vehicle on the road today.

Smoothest ride I’ve ever known. Certified warrantee can’t be beat: 5 years snd unlimited miles! Smartest car ever, practically drives itself. Insurance only $5 more a month than my 2012 Soul.

We seem to have got a lemon in this one, leave it for a few days, even in summer, and it refuses to start. Bought a portable jump-starter, and even then it's hard to hook up.

I'm currently leasing a 2020 Lexus UX250h and have it now for almost a year. I would love to rate it higher, but am unable to for several reasons. Pros: good on fuel (summer), handles well on the road. Cons: bad on fuel (Canadian winter), small trunk area, unable to install a hitch for my bike carrier, not a "true" AWD

Nice car but safety system simply does not work. I bumped into my plastic garbage can and that system was in highest sensitivity. It does nothing. Than I get very close to cars in front of me. It does nothing. Dealer checked the codes and said everything was fine. Nothing is fine. They refuse to drive with me and show me system working. Fake PCs.Good fuel economy, not very comfortable, not for Lexus. Noise inside significant. Bumpy, noisy.

The level of technology and sophistication is such that if you are a senior citizen you should avoid this car although it would appear to be the safest car of all. Very difficult to figure out all the gadgets.

I'm going to list more negatives than positive. It really is a great car so I did give it 4 stars, but I want buyers to know everything that may bug them about the car. It's a cute car. I wanted something smaller as my kids have left the house. This may have been a smidge too small for me I've averaged 41-44 mpg, which I really enjoy. Oddly, my gas tank will only hold 8 gallons of gas. It says the tank is over 10 gallons, but alas, only 8 gallons fit. This drives me nuts. Would love to get a full 10 gallons in there. The car runs smooth. I love how quiet it runs through town; however, It does get louder at hwy speeds. I find the stereo to be inadequate. The entire sound system is lackluster - I strain to hear it. I think perhaps it needs more speakers in the cabin. I really need the steering wheel to telescope more than it does. As a female driver, we tend to have shorter arms, and this is the shortest telescoping steering wheel I've ever had. Not a huge fan of using the touchpad controller. Buttons & dials would be faster and easier. However, everyone who rides with me thinks it's really cool. It is not the easiest vehicle to get in and out of. Perhaps not having a compact car before has jaded me, but it feels tight and awkward. You have to pay if you want to use the remote start. That seems like the silliest thing to me. Things I miss on my old car that this Lexus doesn't have - weather, surround cameras, automatic seat adjustment and steering wheel retraction when entering and exiting the vehicle (makes getting in and out easier), seat/mirror/steering wheel memory, sunglasses holder. Overall, it isn't a bad car. I just wouldn't buy it again for the reasons I've listed. I like the looks of it, the interior styling, and the great gas mileage.

It’s a great little SUV. Drives very smoothly, great interior and exterior finish. Even though I prefer touch screen control, once you get used to the one on this Lexus, it works great too. Fantastic gas mileage…I get 4.3 mpg in town/hiway mix drive. 5.1 mpg on Hiway only. Not super comfy in the back seats, still useful. Not big cargo space too. Still I love this little car!!!

For Lexus this model is way to noisy and bumpy. Not spacious enough for its size. Good thing is good fuel economy and hopefully reliability. Acceleration is good enough in sport mode.

Lots of high tech stuff to go wrong. No fan of cv trans. It goes like a turtle,& not like a sharp sporty Lexus. Great mpg, but on premium, with low performance leaves me looking elsewhere. For that $$ amount, I expect more go.
