A big disappointment

This is the second RX we have owned. We purchased this RX 350 all wheel drive new in Oct 2016 and wish we had our money back. The first one, many years ago, was really good. This one is a big disappointment. The Info system is just terrible. Voice recognition does not work, not at all, no matter how much training you do. The car seems to be less quite than in the past. Shifting is just strange from time to time. No trouble with it, but just not worth the money with all its faults. I recommend you look elsewhere. Shortly after I wrote this review, I traded the car in for a Genesis G90, which we love! Happy to say goodbye to the RX.

RX 350 Cruise Control and Transmission Problems

Review for 2017 RX350. I live in an area with rolling hills. The eight speed transmission operates very poorly when driving as it is constantly shifting up and down in a very noticeable jerky multiple shifting operations to control speed when in cruise control while going up and down hills. When driving without cruise control the shifting and jerking still occur ,however, not as severe when cruise control is activated. Transmission and ECU MODULE were replaced by dealer. Did not solve problem.

Throaty noise in low gear

Evidently Lexus has a problem with the muffler system in many of the 2017 RX 350s. Makes a growling sound and vibrates in lowest gear when on an incline. Technician sd Lexus is working on a fix! The technician at dealership said the muffler noise problem seems to be more prevalent in the vehicles coming from Canada rather than the ones from Japan. Recommendation: Drive the one you are going to buy and put it on a fairly steep incline while in lowest gear. The noise from the muffler is a low roar with vibration felt in the steering wheel. Smooths out as you pick up speed. Occurs mostly at 1500-1800 rpm. I find it irritating, some may not!

My Mistake

This car is a perfect example of a good model gone bad. The drive train in the 2017 is not smooth or powerful, resulting in a herky jerky performance and uneven power even when the throttle is steady. It also has a way too soft suspension that results in instability when going over bumps at higher speeds, such as on an interstate. The drive is comparable to a high mileage vehicle with weak shocks and struts. In addition, the bluetooth set up is both confusing and difficult to navigate. So if you want a new model that is both unattractive because of grill styling, drives like a pig, and is a step down in bluetooth, this is the vehicle for you. I've owned Lexus vehicles for nearly two decades, and this is by far the worst vehicle that I've owned.
