The 2.0 Version
HS250H base model: The car is excellent but at first the fuel economy was not that great with about 32-34 mpg overall. Last February Lexus requested an appointment with a technician who would "work" on the car at my home. Two guys show up with a laptop and sit in the car for about an hour. They connect to the car's computer system and formatted (erased) most of the car's hard drives and loaded new programs. Diving the car afterward was like driving a different car. The engine was tuned better to the driving dynamics and the the fuel economy jumped by 5 mpg. I get 42 mpg on flat highways, 38 - 40 on mountain roads, and 36 - 40 in stop & go driving. It's a great experience.

Good interior but bad quality
Just bought this car less than 3 weeks ago and now I already experienced some problems in the car. Some personnel on the dealership are harsh and told me to comeback if the car reaches 5k miles services before they check or diagnose the problem. Engine vibrates when it is in power mode and doesn't reach 35 mpg average. This is a big mistake for buying this car brand and choosing this dealership.
A disaster for Lexus and for your $$
For this kind of $$ this car lacks a lot: -Practical cabin storage (the Prius is better) -Seat back pockets -Decent brakes -Engine noise refinement -REAL fuel economy that can actually be amortized over the life of the car (unlike the delusional types who are so happy with mid 30s in a $40K car) -Driver engagement (can you say Novocain?) -Steering feel -More effective cooled seats -Drive line refinement (the surging can drive you nuts) Let's see, anything else? Oh yes, styling befitting a Lexus instead of a Corolla w/Premium package. And yes, I've put over 1000 miles on one in a variety of traffic conditions. Lexus sold a grand total of 165 HS250Hs last month; that tell you something?
Less gas is great!
Bought it for my wife. She wanted great MPG and comfort. Replaced Mini Clubman JCW. Maybe not as quick, but more than makes up for it with comfort! GPS and Bluetooth are friendly. Great ride. Enough pep to get on expressway with no trouble. Funky shifter takes a moment to get used to and keyless is a feature my wife loves. No love for the oil companies. Nice that is is not covered with "green" logos too. Third Lexus, and never unhappy with them.
