Update - 30,000 miles with no problems
Have had the car for just over a year and put almost 12,000 miles on it. No major problems to speak of. I did get a windshield crack from a rock and occasionally the audio system is slow to start up when I turn the car on, but those issues are rare and have also happened on my wife's X7 and on my Tahoe. The Defender is my favorite car I've ever owned. Comfortable, cool, great for the family, and great to load up and take to the mountains. I'd absolutely buy this car again! Update now that I'm at 30,000 miles. Still haven't had any major problems. Just change the oil and rotate the tires and it's good to go. I've taken it on family road trips for 1200 miles and it was comfortable and easy. I've also taken it off road in Moab and it handled everything with confidence and ease.

Ready for every road condition
This vehicle is truly amazing! I don't worry about wet roads or snow, it goes through anything. Pot holes? No issue, drive through them. The 22" tires can take a beating. Ride comfort is not as good as our Range Rover but that is to be expected. There is a compartment or handle everywhere! No issues getting in or out and I am handicapped! The six cylinder has PLENTY of power. Grandkids argue over who gets the "way back" seat. :)

Impressive Value for 2024 90S
I purchased a 2024 Defender 90S. This base model is my exact specification. It has a Khaki interior and a few options: white roof, Pangea Green paint, exposed tow hooks, tow receiver, and 18" white steel wheels.) The Defender has been flawless so far. The 2.0L engine is smooth and robust. The highway ride is luxury-level quiet, with smooth transmission shifts and responsive handling for an SUV. All the technology works, and the standard active and passive safety systems prevent a potentially severe crash. The standard kit on the 90S is very impressive. I plan to attend a Land Rover Experience event in the spring to develop my off-roading skills and utilize the Defender's off-road capabilities. When I compared our base 90S features against other luxury and near-luxury brands with the same equipment, the Defender was the value-for-dollar winner. The upper trim levels can get eye-wateringly expensive, but the 90S, at $56K, is a solid value. I highly recommend this 2024 vehicle.

Faulty Windshield Design - Defender
Windshield spontaneously cracked (almost all the way across) on 2024 Defender Carpathian (less than 7k miles). I had no idea this was a common problem when I purchased the vehicle, but I have since learned there a significant amount of complaints and at least one class action lawsuit regarding the known fragile design of the windshield and the expense and inability of obtaining replacements. The dealer quote is ~$3400 for a replacement but the windshield is on backorder with no ETA because of the high amount of breakage (spoke to several dealerships and availability is likely many months away; one estimate was likely 6 months). Given the lawsuit and complaints, I assumed LR must be aware so I contacted them re: potential ETA, and whether they were considering a recall or handling under warranty but they wouldn't provide any information. Unfortunately, it appears that I (along with a bunch of other people) are stuck with expensive, undrivable vehicles because of this faulty design.

It's a Beast and the envy of all who see it!
We've owned Jeep Wrangler Unlimiteds for many years but the quality was low enough and priced high enough when we were shopping for a new vehicle in October 2023, that we decided to look at Land Rovers. We also own a Model Year 2019 Jaguar XE R-Sport that have been running flawlessly for five years and 60,000 miles that we were not concerned with the undeserved reputation of poor quality by JLR found in Consumer Reports who lately have been pushing Eco cars over their prior pure vehicle reviews. At our local JLR Dealership, we saw a Defender 110 in Tasman Blue (aka Royal Air Force Blue in the UK) with full Black Pack trim and 22-inch Black rims. The interior was full leather throughout and very high quality. It had the P400 MHEV engine (an inline six cylinder petrol engine that is both supercharged and turbocharged with Mild Hybrid 48V EV assist on launch) with a throaty exhaust that propels this 5400lb+ vehicle going 0-60MPH in only 5.8 seconds, wow! If you are debating between the P250 2.0L 4-cylinder, the P400 MHEV, or 5.0L v8, definitely go with the P400 MHEV (which sounds great, is faster off-the-line than the V8, and gets better MPG too). It sits way taller than our old Jeep Wrangler 4-door Unlimited, has a full pano glass roof with safari ridge windows, and fantastic rear seating too (I am 6'2" and have PLENTY of leg and head room!). It is truly a Beast that is the envy of all who see it! Sorry to our former Jeep friends and our German SUV wannabees. Once you drive a Defender 110, you'll never look back :-)
Best on and off road SUV
I like everything about this vehicle. Handling on and off road. Looks functionality and road presence. I would recommend the in line 6 engine. Quiet ride smooth and terrific handling. This Land Rover product has exceeded my expectations.

Roving H Town
I absolutely love my Defender 110. I have base model with HUD and upgraded rims and tire cover. I receive compliments whenever I go. I traded in my 2020 Lexus GX 460. Which I also loved but the style and technology was becoming dated. I considered the new GX 550 but after seeing a side by side comparison I made the right choice. In my opinion the LR just looks more luxurious interior wise. Last thing the ride quality is great.

Completely Satisfied
Just over 19,000 miles and a year on my 2023 Land Rover Defender S P300, and I've had just two minor issues. Apple CarPlay very rarely doesn't behave and if I toggle the WiFi off/on on my phone the issue is resolved. When Start/Stop activates, it will very rarely start back up in Neutral, but I did my research before purchasing a Rover and am pretty unbothered by these minor quirks that show themselves rarely.

Land Rover Defender 130 First Edition my best EVER
Since my first Range Rover, a 1991, then our 1993, followed by our long wheelbase 1995 Range Rover, this 2023 Land Rover Defender 130 First Edition is supremely more luxurious, more capable on road and off road. The three rows of supple Windsor Vintage Tan Leather provides such a versatile SUV! All rows have heated seats and cup holders and two beautiful sunroofs, one larger front and a separate rear sunroof! The amazing, but ease of use technology, provides such a wide variety of off-road driving such as; a snow, sand, rock climbing and more mode, or just put it on auto and it’ll select for you the best setting. Older defenders were great but watch do YouTube on hill climbing mud water rock climbing this new Land Rover defender out does them all! It has such an effortless fast smooth powertrain that it will absolutely amaze you it’s an SUV! Four months and over 4,000 miles with two interstate trips proved it a worthy and wonderful SUV. Bumper to Bumper 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty provides peace of mind. My family has found this to be a uniquely, enjoyable SUV to own, drive and appreciate all it has to offer. UPDATE: 2 years, 4 months 23,900 miles this defender 1/31 edition is so fabulous so wonderful to drive on road off road and comfortable. I can’t imagine any other SUV having features that even meet this vehicles! What an absolute pleasure it is for both my wife and I, we truly like it. It’s reliable, we’ve had no problems, and look to continue a long time ownership with it!

Unique SUV
I have had my defender 90 v8 for about a year. An oxygen sensor failed and was replaced (warranty). Overall, the car performs well - nice handling for its weight. The car also feels more fun than other SUVs in my opinion . I can genuinely see how nice it is when I ride in other cars and compare back to my car . It has a quiet ride, but you can also hear the engine . It does have a lot of body lean if you compare it with a performance SUV like a x5 M , so I don’t really push it . I highly recommend a well spec’d defender over a typical luxury SUV.

A bada$$ SUV that turns heads
Brought a 2023 130 x-dynamic off the show room floor and it has not let our family down to trips to Vermont and upstate NY where there are no roads but potholes. Over 20k miles already and tons of city driving can recommend anymore.

The class of the class
I’ve driven every mid-size luxury SUV out there and the Defender hands down is the best- rugged on the outside, refined on the inside with a great driving experience we needed more room beyond our BMWX3 and the back has more room than a BMWX5. The Pirelli tires and a four-cylinder engine and the air suspension combine for a very refined yet stable ride.

Love It
2023 110 X Dynamic 6 cl picked up September 2022. Rides better than I expected. Very good power. Looks great, very good interior. Taken multiple long trips and very happy. Did have to take it in for a software update but unfortunately that is very common in all brands today due to the chip issues over the past 3 years.

Love it! And my next one is the defender OCTA!
If it was a bit taller and a bit wider, it would have been sooo perfect! A little faster as well, and thats why I'm planning to exchanging it to the new 2025 Octa! Back to my current 2023 8 Cyl and previous 2022 6cyl. So my first was the 6 Cyl, liked it, but it def needed more power for sure, esp if you are a car enthusiast! Got the 8 Cyl and it is a def improvement! My wife has the 2024 Range Rover, and she loves it, but when she had to drive my car few days, she felt that defender (8 cyl) is a lot more fun to drive then hers! The kids enjoyed it a lot more as well! It is fun yet feels very safe, strong like a tank feeling ! Super comfortable for a Jeepy kind of SUV! The comfort in my opinion is way better than the Mercedes G Wagon, it even drives better! I’m sure it’s not as fast as the Mercedes, so here comes the Defender Octa! Hopefully I’ll see you all next year with that review! Cheers!

Unique and capable
Picked up the Defender a couple of weeks ago and love it. Whereas every SUV on the road looks similar, the Defender really stands out. Mine has the 6 cylinder motor which is quiet, smooth and has plenty of get up and go. The air suspension makes the ride luxurious and smooth, belying its tough exterior looks. As far as reliability, I won’t know for a while but other Defender owners I have spoken to have been quite positive. I am hopeful for similar experience.

Nearly perfect except in one critical way
There is so much to like about this vehicle that it seems somewhat unfair that a single, seeming small, feature can have such a profound impact on the utility of the vehicle. The back seats do not lay down flat. This makes the cargo space odd sized and smaller that it appears, but far more importantly, everything placed in this sloping space slides back to the cargo door such that when the door is opened it falls out. It is absolutely irksome and lowers my rating by more than a single star and makes it unlikely I would ever again buy this vehicle that I otherwise love.

Defender Trophy
It is definitely different from other manufacturers. Still getting used to the high technology. Worked out the software updates issues and low battery messages. Otherwise, very pleased.

Defender is great inside - misses on the outside
I tested out the Defender, and was hoping to buy one. The interior was perfect. If your goal is mostly highway driving and around town, Defender is terrific - it was smooth and with air suspension, everyone will be happy, for sure. I have no negatives for on-road driving experience - it even has a plug in the trunk for your coffee maker - perfect inside. If you plan to do all that, plus some adventure driving, then I did find some drawbacks. I found the outside to be a confused mess. Is Defender a Range Rover trim? Or is it supposed be be a luxury family adventure SUVs? Defender's exterior styling shows JLR is confused as to why Defender shouldn't just be a RR with a different hood decal. If the Defender stays on the pavement, the sleek exterior has no negatives & looks great. If you plan on driving off road for a bit, then the sleek style exterior is not ideal because it's unlikely to be kept that way. I'm holding off on buying, hoping JLR fixes a few problems I had with it. First, the Defender has a glass roof. This is great for many, but not for me, given I load the roof. JLR offers no choice on the glass roof, and Defender is effectively a fish bowl on wheels. I'm not sure why JLR wouldn't want to configure a family adventure type SUV with a solid and reinforced metal roof? I'm not suggesting everyone would want that, but why not offer a solid roof to those that do? The second hesitation was the rim size. A Defender with 21" rims is an rolling oxymoron, as the only off road feature you'd use would be a tire inflater. Low profile tires are great on the highway, but an immediate problem to pretty much everything you'd encounter on an adventure trip. Even with the 19" rims, tire selection is limited. An 18" rim would allow for more tire options. But to offer 18" rims and bigger wheel arches - to allow for bigger tires like the Goodyear AT KO2s, JLR would have to make a few changes to Defender. Will JLR? Who knows, but experience shows many cars that get stuck in snow get that way due to poor tire selection. It's not that the engine has no power - it's that the tires don't give you the traction you need to get unstuck. As anyone who drives in snowy places knows, snowbanks along the road can be hazards if you get too close - tire choice is important. All the fancy technology is fantastic on Defender - the low gearing and locking differential programs will keep you moving over anything, I don't doubt it. But my hesitation was not on the tech side, but the reality that ultimately it's all reliant upon the rubber beneath it. If you can't increase the durability of tire and sidewall height, you'll never find yourself in a spot where using the traction control is necessary (as you'll be stuck long before you max out the tech side of Defender). Going beyond the technical capability of the Defender is not likely, and so you have to wonder what surface is below the Defender that requires such capable off road programming? What type of scenario requires the Defender to lock a rear differential? Whatever is suggesting you lock, I don't think you'd want to be on low profile street treads. That's the point - if you're locking, the ground below is telling the computer that Defender needs to, and whatever is under the tires it's not the smooth and traction available pavement. The off road technology is so far ahead of the basic rubber on the road, that it's more likely the tires give out way before any of the off road tech. This is one area I think JLR can improve upon - making Defender ready for 18" rims so that tire choices for consumers can be expanded. Doing this would still allow for 19", 21", or bigger tires - for those that prefer the larger rims. Large rims are already available; its the smaller rim that would dramatically expand tire choices for owners. There's a huge segment of tire choices that are not manufactured for the 19" rims (they are better on 17&18" rims). Looking at how JLR wants to configure and sell Defenders, it seems built to be spectacular on the road ways. The driving and handling was fantastic. The driver's visibility, and interior space for passenger stuff (water bottle, coffee cup, iPhone) was amazing. Everything can fit in Defender. Nothing better than Defender on the inside. One stand-out feature of Defender, something that no competitor has, is the height available to passengers inside the cabin - if you want vertical height, Defender is the leader. But taking a RR silhouetted SUV off road - and this is the same issue as with the tires - it looks to me like a costly choice, as dents will be apparent on the sleek shell. The other item I've read about concerns the windshield - JLR may have undersized it, making it susceptible to cracks (from rocks flung up on the road). If you're going to bang up your SUV on an adventure trip, you want something ready for the dings. I suspect JLR will eventually make Defender more ready for adventure drivers. If the goal is totally on road, Defender was fantastic. You don't need 18" rims on the highway, and if you don't load your roof, maybe you don't care about glass tops. The luxury family adventure SUV market is likely small, so I do get why Defender is not suited to all types of buyers initially. The bigger market is on road driving, and for that, it's a home run. But the family adventure SUV buyer is out there, and at some point, maybe Defender will be trimmed for some light - and perhaps even intentional - misuse :)

Only had the vehicle for a week, so far I am really impressed. The frame feels sturdy and the finishes don’t feel cheap.
