Used 2022 Kia Soul Consumer Reviews
This Soul needs a little more soul!
Bought the 2022 Soul X-Line (only because that was the only Soul they had that wasn't the base model.) I really wanted one with power seats and a sun roof, so that is part of why I am not thrilled with this car. MPG about 28. I do like the large info screen. Speakers blah. Has nice looking wheels. Has enough pickup and my tall handicapped husband can get in and out easily enough. The back seats are a little tight for 2 adults but not terrible. You can get a couple suitcases in the back with the back seats folded forward. What I REALLY don't like is the hard seats, like sitting on church pews after a short while. I bought this car for road trips and the hard seat gets uncomfortable pretty fast. Once availability of other cars gets better, I will be trading it in but not for another Soul.
KIA SOUL Drivetrain woes
I bought a 2020 Kia Soul used and am the 2nd owner. While driving in traffic at the posted speed, the transmission failed without warning. This happened in an intersection too! Vehicle would not move in any gear- Had to have it towed to the KIA dealership in Dothan, AL. After reviewing the codes given by the computer,I was advised that I would need a complete new transmission! Both KIA service advisors told me and my father that the "new CVT" is cheaply made, and that in just the last week, they've replaced 3 in 2020 models. I STRONGLY encourage others to do your homework! Go to the NHTSA website and file a complaint. There are over 160 complaints on the KIA SOUL for various problems, but 67 were for transmission failures without warning, while the car was moving on the highway! Enough complaints may force a government mandated recall. Owners should NOT be paying for Kia's cheap & dangerous transmission! Also, do a Google search for 2020 KIA transmission problems- apparently the word is getting out: there are law firms actively soliciting info from owners and inviting them to join a class action law suit. You can also look on u U Tube and you will see first hand just how cheap and poorly made these are. I don't know how long it'll take NHSTA to demand action; nothing yet because no one has been killed- sad that it'll take someone dying to get the US Government Safety agency charged with this responsibility to act. As for KIA and Jack Ingram Motors in Montgomery offering any assistance or help?... Neither willing to do anything! BUYERS BEWARE!!! Major mechanical issues that may let you down while in traffic!

3700 miles in a new Soul
Rock solid round trip from Kansas City to northern New England. 36 mpg fir the trip. Not a single hiccup during entire journey. The LX Soul (base model) with the the automatic has its limits in terms of acceleration and cornering but neither factor prevented it from handling long interstate conditions at high speeds. Once you learn its capabilities and limitations you’re pretty much a happy camper. Seating is very comfortable, road noise is acceptable, and the vehicle is always stable even when handling long corners. September 2022. Soul LX now 16 mos old and clocks 14,500. Has had 3 routine services at dealer. I certainly have zero affiliation with Kia, the dealer, etc. Zilch. BUT : this odd sewing machine has been perfect since the day I bought it. Runs like a good pc or smartphone should…at 75 on a road trip while getting 35mpg. Have survived a brutally hot mid-western summer with cooling and AC functioning perfectly. All electrics perfect. And even with my city doing cruel roadwork everywhere the base LX has never yet squeaked or rattled…in the entire 16 months. Sounds over-the-top but it’s true. Do I still wish it was quick ? I do. But my days with IROC Zs, Trans Ams, Vettes, ad nauseum are gone. Do I wish it cornered better ? I do. But the smell of Pirelli rubber from a GTI cornering at its limit is also a memory. The Kia Soul never shared stable space with the last generation of drivers’ cars. The Soul is writing its own story. And so far it is perfect.

4 break downs in the first 2 weeks.
First day home, no start, tow to shop. Replace batter. Day 2 no start tow to shop. Replace starter. 1 week later no start tow to shop. Reprogram remotes and car starter. Did not get out of the dealership , found oil leak, back into shop for repair. This week had to replace factory wiper blades, scratching window, and NO THEY WERE NOT DAMMAGED FROM ABUSE!

Happy Ride
It’s a great small SUV, it handles well and is filled with multiple safety features. My last vehicle was a Soul and I’m staying with a Soul. Besides it’s cute.
