Xline zoom
I own the xline and it is a great car. While this is first kia soul I have owned, it will not be my last. A great, fun little subcompact crossover which is loaded with extras. I highly recommend this car to anyone .
second time around
This is my second Kia Soul .I leased my first one in 2017. truthfully at first i thought i would try a different car, just to change up but after looking at the other Kia models within my price range i didnt want a run of the mill sedan ( forte ) and parking in brooklyn NYC is a nightmare.I am really not hard to please and had only a few requirements one it had to have enough room for my dog ( a large ) cane corso 2 its reliable and 3 good air conditioning ..after looking at all the changes to the soul i decided on another one.and i am extremely happy.the drive is a little better in terms the car feels bigger and has a lot more power for those belt parkway merges .i like the front grill and the smaller headlights its just a cool looking car.i drove the 2017 base model for 3 years and went about 23,000 miles and never had issues mechanically . never got a flat tire or got stuck in snow.just a nice car.its great for commuting because of great gas mileage and even though this one is slightly longer its great for the tight NYC parking spaces

2020 Kia Soul
I got this car as my second car. Have been driving this car for one year now. The car has 7000 miles on it. The first time the car just stopped (less than 4000 miles) had it towed. All the oil was gone. Second time the engine got very hot and car started smoking. The oil was over again. There was a case opened by Kia. When I call to ask them why is that happening with the oil consumption being so high they have no answer for me. They fixed the recall so I guess will wait it out and see if that helps. I love the car otherwise. I currently have the lx and I wanted to change cars in another 2 years and go for the higher trim level but at this point all I want it to be rid of my car and never buy Kia again. So disappointed.

Soulfully Disappointed
My second Kia Soul: I also had a 2013 Soul Exclaim. And I actually prefer my previous Soul to the current model. I appreciate the safety tech and I'm getting excellent gas mileage but this car lacks the personality that my previous Soul had. I miss the quirky interior with the hounds tooth fabric and the flashing speaker lights and more funky styling. even the model designations were cooler...Exclaim (!), Plus (+), etc are way more unique than "S", "Ex", X-Line", etc. And no more Hamsters? Replaced with a chameleon?? Seriously ??? Kia needs to remember who brought it to the dance. Major issues I've had thus far are the OE tires. They hate to get wet and can be treacherous in the rain. I replaced them at 3,000 miles and the difference is dramatic. But the headlights are without a doubt the worst I have ever had on a car. I drive with my brights on and rarely get signaled. My service advisor believes a recall is forthcoming but if I had test driven the car at night I absolutely wouldn't have bought it. And lastly, i hate the fact that you have to go all in for the top of the line turbo model to get certain options, i.e. pedestrian detection or an upgraded stereo system. It didn't use to be like that. I don't feel the need to spend an extra $7-$8 grand just to get flashing speaker lights although I do miss them. And I miss my 2013 Soul too.

My little red wagon!
I love this car, handles well, comfortable ride, has lots of goodies and is perfect for me. Not too big and not too small, and has plenty of pick up for a 4 cylinder...Love it!!!! Has everything I need!

Dissatisfied.
2020 Koa Soul, X-Line trim. Really sluggish when starting from a complete stop. Feels as if the small engine is trying to tow a boat. That's how sluggish it feels. Headrest are super uncomfortable and pushes your head too far forward. Have only owned for a month and I have constant neckaches that simply have gotten worse. I don't drive around much so daily trips are quite short, basically to and from work which is a 20 minute drive each way. Can't imagine how bad a long trip would be for my neck.

So far so good
A lot of features for less than $20,000! Plenty of room for a small vehicle.
Very satisfied
I am not an experienced car owner, being a New Yorker. I just retired and decided to take the plunge. I chose the Soul based on it's size (relatively short for easier street parking), the warranty (great), the interior comfort (spacious and comfy), the cargo space (lots), safety ratings (good), the infotainment system, and performance (good enough for me). I feel at ease in this car. Experienced car-owning friends who have driven it like it a lot, and say it feels solid and responsive (brakes, steering). I bought the EX trim for the added comfort perks, like power seat adjustment and climate control. I'm appreciating the keyless ignition, and the built-in navigation system for when I'm traveling in areas with poor cell service. I haven't had it in cold weather yet but I hear heated seats are wonderful!
2020 GT-It's a car
The car itself drives wonderfully. Very sporty feel and handling. Little 4 cylinder is at best peppy. CVT is better than the ones in Nissan's I have owned, but still anemic. The car burned quite a bit oil up to 3,000 miles and then suddenly stopped. Mpg hovers in the high 20's with mixed driving. Highway mpg best is low 30's. Some are claiming 40s, in my opinion are full of you know what. Interior is very nice. Materials are great for a 20K range car. Front seats are comfortable, but, if you are broad in the shoulders/lats, you might not fit in the tight side bolsters. Fits my wife perfect. Tech is pretty good and works well. The radio sound system is horrid. The worst I have ever had in any car. Sales personnel at Kia dealers are the worst I have ever encountered in my 54 years. I will never walk into another one. It took almost a year for us to get the title for a car we paid cash. Our registration was never processed by the dealer. Almost got arrested for grand theft auto because they never transferred the plate and it was still coming back as our old Minivan. Car is reasonably quiet below 50, but when you hit the highway there is some wind noise in the cabin. All in all, it appears to be a decent value for the money.

2020 Kia Soul.brand new engine!
13k miles on it. Took it in for warranty work and recall work..because it sounded like a diesel and dying on me. Turns out, the cam/crank shaft sensor went out. The Euler ship fixed all..tested it..engine seized up! Now they are putting a 2022 engine in it, brand new. We keep up the maintenance, 100k warranty..wasn’t due for another oil change yet. This should NOT have happened. Oh and the warranty wants me to spend 35 bucks a day for a rental that I have to rent from, Kia said they will reimburse us. Uh…NO? Not everyone can afford that! Much less us! Don’t bother buying any model of soul. I don’t trust this new engine! 2+ weeks more from today 4-04-2022 till I get my car back! They have had it over a week now already. Never buying another Kia!
3800 miles and nothing but problems
We purchased a 2020 Kia Soul S from a dealer in October 2020. It was purchased as our "vacation home" vehicle in Florida where we spend the winter. Not long after purchasing the care we received a recall notice concerning possible defects in the piston rings. We took the car to the dealer for its first service and to have the engine inspected. It flunked and a new engine was required. We were given a crappy rental car. Four weeks later and our car was ready. Three weeks later the dealer called us to say that the vehicle needed a piston ring heat detection señsor installed and software updated. Another 2 hour visit to the dealer to have it installed. At the 3500 mile mark the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. The warning was to check lane departure, high beam automatic control and front collision systems. Another trip to the dealer to have it checked. At first the shop manager said that our toll payment transponder might be the problem as he had received a notice from Kia of that issue. Really??? The systems had worked fine with the transponder from day one. After a 2 hour wait, we were informed that the problem is with the forward camera not working. It is used with the 3 systems. The dealership did not have a replacement in stock and when the parts distributor was contacted, they were on back order. When asked when the part would be available the dealership didn't know. I am writing this four weeks later and still no indication when the replacement camera will be available. In the meantime every time we drive the car we get the Christmas tree of warnings and 3 safety functions that don't work. In my years of car ownership, both new and used, I have never had a car with so many issues after less than 4000 miles of use on the road. The Kia Soul S is fun to drive, gets great mileage and has lots of luggage room. However I won't be buying another Kia or its cousin Hyundai given the problems with this car.

Omg I hated driving this car
Was given this as a rental car, seemed like the most sluggish, awkward vehicle around. No smooth acceleration. When I did give it gas so as not to get scorned or run over by traffic behind me, it lunged forward and acted like it was sucking up the gas. Next time I rent a car, I am going to plead not to be given a Kia Soul, anything but that...
Kickin Kia
I wish there was a CD player, a little more pick up even in Sport mode and a clearer view for the backup Camera

Almost Really Good
Here's the thing.Read reviews, but bare in mind, most are done by people who do not want to sound too badly negative. They are loaned a car for free, and most are loaded with nicer options. The TRUTH is what the real public says. The 2020 Soul was redesigned, and tho more stylistic or better looking, the front end fascia is NOT aerodynamic. It is the only thing which makes it seem SUVish. The Soul is really a tall (roofline) wagon,on a definite car. The horsepower was actually reduced to 147,and won't win any awards for acceleration,as it is a heavy car. The REAL PROBLEM lies in the interior.Lies are what you have read that it's well done.Truth is,even the top trim GT Line Turbo doesn't get FULL leather. At over $27k I want full leather Recarro style seating,NOT seats from my Uncle's bigass Lazyboy. The rear seats lie flat when down,if by flat you're willing to accept 75%.The dashboard design/layout looks goofy, with a rectangular screen in an odd shaped OVAL-ISH inset. The Soul lacks the interior quality/refinement,and better power to match other very similarly priced cars. Remember,it's notcan SUV. When the 22 year old nice salesman calls it that... make sure you correct him. The Soul depreciates quickly if you research 3 year old ones, because in reality,it's a basic car with a tall roof. You can pick up a 201 horsepower 2019 Turbo auto on autotrader .com for about $18k with rebates.Don't fall for the $23k or $24k price. There are much smarter choices in the same class and horsepower range. *Actually,if they redesigned it with an aerodynamic nose, not the fake SUV style grill,it'd get 32 or 33 mpg instead. Adds full leather seats, maybe removable rear speakers for impromptu glamping...then it IS UNIQUE.

2020 Kia Soul x-Line Bronze with Black roof
just bought a 2020 Soul X-Line , this is my fifth Soul , I still have a 2019 Soul with a 6 spd. manual transmission and 1.6 ltr. engine , I really love the way my 2020 handles and also the restyle of the dashboard only complaint is the 18 in. wheels seem to give a more harsh ride . My 2019 with 15 in. wheels rides much better in comparison.
Good all around car!
Very good well-handling car, acceleration is very good with a lot of pickup! Very easy to get in and out of, with a lot of interior room for a small car. Negative things no window tint, a lot of road noise, key fob too big/heavy, no door key to be able to unlock the door to get in & the seats are too hard!

No complaints
Traded in a low mileage Range Rover Evoque. Always turned my noise up at Kia, Hyundai. Totally satisfied with the Kia for less than half the price. My son works as a Kia mechanic and convinced me I was wasting money on designer cars. When lease is up on my spouse’s Infiniti QX50 it will be replaced with a Telluride. I am I large man with mobility issues and the Soul is much easier to get in and out

Paint job and overall performance disappointing
I LOVED my 2014 Kia Soul and would still have it if someone hadn’t crashed it. The Kia Soul 2020 is a significantly lower quality in looks and performance. The paint on my former Kia was perfect after 6 years and being kept mostly outside in Midwestern weather for the first four years, after which it was garaged when at home . The 2020 Kia paint scratched up with many small scratches within a few months (<4> of ownership even though had been kept almost entirely garaged when I was home. When I brought to Kia dealer’s attention (the one who sold it to me), after only owning it for a few months. they implied it was not under warranty and sold me paint pens (plural). Numerous more scratches over the next 18 months. Dealer refuses to cover under warranty. And found out the three year warranty only lasts for 32 months (!!!), not 36. The drive is also jerkier, especially at stops, which can be dangerous when entering busy traffic. This will be my last Kia. It is the perfect size, shape and height for me, but not worth the lack in quality and failure to honor warranty.

FRUSTRATING
I love everything about this car, except the engine. It makes. Loud diesel like noise and of course the service department can't find anything wrong with it. When you're driving through a parking lot and people turn to stare because of the horrible racket, it's a little aggravating. Maybe I can get it fixed at some point. I will most likely trade it in. Edited to add: it burns oil at a faster than normal rate. Kia says it's within their guidelines, so there's nothing they will do.

I absolutely love this car! I’m 6’ tall & I drive over 500 miles a week in Alaska where the weather changes from sleet to ice to snow to rain daily! No only is this car comfortable but it handles all the conditions weather has thrown at it! The only time I got stuck in a driveway was when the snow was 18” the night before! It can handle a foot of snow no problem!

A joy to drive!
Love this car. Had a 2016 Buick Encore which handled about the same but the Soul is more roomier, quieter, and more powerful. 2.0L The CVT transmission is awesome. Encore does not have CVT. The Encore blew an intake manifold and 3 engine sensors went off after 5 years.

Great car
Love the lower deck as it makes it easier to get in and out.
EX what a great car to travel in
Pro: 1) Heated seats comfortable enough to take a short nap 2). Navigation is easy to use 3). Steering is very positive road feel, covering is great with Continental Contact Touring 215/55R17 94 VNS should be the standard tire for the EX trim 4). Climate control is very good at keeping the passenger and driver happy 5). Speeding tickets are easy to get / 55 mph with 2.0 motor is easily achieved / wind and road noise are not noticed and 65 highway is very sustainable for 31 mpg. 5). EX model has ample shelving helping on long road trips at 43000 my family has driven from Plainfield Illinois to Denver once and Alamogordo twice / Mountain driving is no problem. 6) Maguire's products respond well to the Kia clear coating making rinsing of the Kia during our trips 7) 2020 appears to be the only year that has fiber optics headlamps and two banks of fog lights CONS 1). Front sensors are need to avoid getting to close to anything to push against the front cowl 2). I am forced to use the club on the steering wheel because thugs can access the steering lock out JOY RIDING KIAS on snap chat. 3) Manufactures recall on engines having bad piston rings In closing I have Owned Cadillac, Chevrolets, many Buicks, Oldsmobile's, Honda, VW, Ford SVT focus, SVT Contour, dollar for dollar this car has been the most fun on road trips at 31 mpg After owning 4 kia souls all trim levels the EX is unlike any of the other KIA soul models and the Continental tires made this are something I want keep the fenders and doors dent free as my everyday driver. I LIKE IT the sound systems not bad either

Great Vehicle
2020 Kia Soul Ex 16,000 Miles this car is GREAT,more options and rides much better than my 2017 Nissan Roque SV AWD by far. This Soul has the 2.0 Engine and is very peppy. The 2020 Kia's to stay away from is Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Soul, and 2021 Seltos vehicles equipped with 2.0L Nu MPI engines. The piston oil rings may not have been properly heat-treated, which may result in engine damage. Tip: Recalls don't affect every vehicle of the same year, make and model.I am verry happy I purchased this vehicle and will upgrade to a newer KIA Soul when ready.

Engine Shakes, Rattles, and Rolls (SLOWLY)
The engine will at times start to shake, losing power, and stalling. When I pull to safety and restart the car, it runs fine. Kia service says if they can't duplicate, they can't fix it. So far they can't. Very scary situation. The seats are cheap and not easy to clean. The wheels have rusted. I hear so many squeaks and rattles...I just use the motto of, "Turn the radio up and drive the heck out of it." I have had it for less than 2 1/2 years and have had so much trouble with it.

Kia soul good
Fantastic little vehicle great on gas
Love My Soul!
Was a great value when it came out in 2010, and the 2020 is stock full of great features, especially valuable safety features, and gets better mpg now. Tons of room inside, great headroom, more cargo space than people expect, and has a more comfortable ride than earlier models. Buy one, you will be happy for many years!

3 weeks and it's already having engine problems
I bought a 2020 EX with 25k miles. It appeared to be in perfect shape, the mechanic said it was fine. But it has only been 3 weeks and it's already stalling while driving (mid-motion) which I know now is extremely common. And of course Kia says nothing is wrong with it. It also burns through oil, another common complaint. We changed the oil 2 weeks ago and it's already really low. We have barely driven it at all, not even 70 miles. I regret buying this car. It has all the textbook problems.

2020 Kia soul Lx
I have owned 3 souls and the last one was disappointing, it started using oil ( I don't care what Kia says that it's normal to use quart every 1000 miles) as a car owner of both new and used some had over 150,000 miles and none of them used oil between changes. There is something wrong with the motors of Kia and Hyundai. Now I don't know much about Hyundai. But with less than 45000 miles on my 2020 soul it shouldn't be using oil like this. Mind you I did my oil changes between 3000 and 4000 miles trying to prevent engine damage and having to go through hoops to get warranty ( still had bumper to bumper and the 10/100000 miles on mine, but trying to get them to look at it before something happens is a headache, so I can only imagine how bad it would be if I had to have a new motor. Alot of people that are getting new motors are still getting the same junk type engine and they are bad too. Used to Kia took pride in their name and product now it seems as though they say hey we take your money and if anything happens you have to fight like hell to get it
Unicorn of all used cars
This car is used but well kepted, hard to find these when look for a used kia soul last time we found one it was 2016 soul black redflecks color clean in side and out 38k miles for 12 years then traded it in for a new suv regreting that still today but luckly we found this kia soul xl 2020 with 71k miles at Toyota of Marysville.
